FP- thanks for the article! Very informative and it gives me hope that I will be running again. I've never used a hip roller before so I will have to google it up. I've been googling hip bursitis all day learning all that I can!

Milehigh- Thanks for the encouragement And congrats on 6 miles! I hope to be able to go that far one day when my hip stops mis-behaving.

My whole hip hurts like **** right now! All the way in my butt....this stuff better help because it sure isn't going to be worth all the pain if it doesn't. Right after they gave it to me, I was checking out and scheduling another appointment and suddenly I got dizzy, lightheaded and sick. I had to sit down and they panicked and took me back to lay down and took my bp. Apparently that wasn't a normal reaction, lol.

I hope that the soreness is better tomorrow so I can exercise...I can hardly walk right now!

I'm going to take the meds and look up a physical therapist and get this thing figured out! I will not let it defeat me....

Pam, your running experiences are making me itch for some new shoes! Great job on the 6M yesterday....sounds like it went well!

Eve- OUCH! Hope your hip starts to feel better. I agree that's not a normal reaction to a cortisone shot!

MK- thanks for the article on refeeding. Ironically I've been doing that on my own, though I never knew it had a formal name. I just kind of figured after a few weeks of strict dieting, it's good to splurge a bit and get the body's metabolism going again. I also find it works exceptionally well the day before a long run or race.

Well I ran 4 fantastic miles yesterday, trying this out as my new base mileage. I would eventually like to get up to 5 miles as my base, but this is a good start. Today and tomorrow is conditioning class, rest on Thursday and hit 8 miles on Friday.

Thanks, Fat and EveL. Not sure if I made it clear in my last post that when I said that I also got some new Nikes that prevent blisters, I was referring to socks. I got my new Mizuno Nirvana 6 shoes two weeks ago and love, love, love em! Can't afford another new pair of shoes at the moment but I did get some socks. I love the Asics I mentioned but the Nikes are not so great. They ae supposed to prevent blisters and instead they gave me a blister! I think I will take them back to Sports Authority, even though I have worn them. They are black and stick out of my shoes and make me look dorky, too. I like no-show socks and these are supposed to be no-show but they definitely show. I ran 4M this morning and then did a nice ab workout.

Fat: I saw the red Mizuno Wave's on your blog and they look beautiful. You will love 'em! They are a lot like mine in that the area that encases your foot is really stretchy and comfortable, but the sole is super supportive and cushiony.

EveL: I hope your hip feels better soon. Glad to hear you are not going to let it win. This is just a small backset and you WILL get back to running.

Have a great day, everyone!

Pam

Mom - congrats on the sub-30 5k. That is huge!

Fat - love all the photos! You are such an inspiration! Hope your 8 miler goes well.

Eve - I'm glad you're keeping a positive attitude. Keep us updated - we're all rooting for you and hoping you find a solution. Does massage help at all? I get professional massages every month and they are GREAT especially now that I am running more.

MK - thanks for keeping us updated on your process. I definitely agree that stress hormones - caused by anything - are detrimental to weight loss. Managing stress is so key - I think we can do everything right but if we are overstressed we won't see the results we want to see.

Sorry I've been a bit MIA this last week. Crazy situation at work which is still unresolved...ever have it happen that a colleague does something wrong and everyone else gets punished...? Anyway, after a tough meeting last Weds I went and had an awesome 4 mile run - got all of my stress and emotions out in my sweat. Appreciating how good running is not just for physical health, but mental health, too. And my most exciting news is that I ran FIVE MILES on Friday. It was on the TM (still ice and snow here) and I just ticked off 12 minute miles. I had a great lunch of slow burning carbs to fuel eat: black bean and sweet potato burritos with lots of fresh tomato salsa. My new fave pre-run meal. It felt just absolutely awesome. Just a mile and a bit til I am at a 10k!

My bummer news is that it is TOM and it's hit me with a vengeance. I had my great run on Friday, and took a good dance class on Saturday but since Sunday morning have been low energy, headachy, sore breasts, blaaah - thank you, hormones. Haven't worked out at all. Haven't weighed myself in days either b/c scale always goes crazy during TOM. Sigh. I am hoping to feel better tomorrow and at least get to the gym to lift even if I am not up for a run, but I figure if I'm not feeling well I shouldn't push it. Anyone else deal with this issue? Advice? It's not like this every month, but when it's bad it feels like I am pretty much out of commission for the better part of the week...ugh.

Hey everyone! I see everyone is doing well! I've been hitting the gym this week. I started preperiod bloating (especially in my boobs!), but this morning, I weighed at 148, which is a welcome change. I've been doing mostly elliptical, but I've been doing at minimum 5-10min on the treadmil each time doing intervals. Hopefully this will help me get back running!

omg you guys. Apparently my registration did not go through (I registered online) for the Colorado HM in May and when I went to the website to check on my registration, it wasn't there. And they capped registration 3 WEEKS ago so my plan to do the HM in May 9th is totally canned.

I will be running the Colfax half instead a week later...2 days before my 28th birthday so it's kind of a neat thing. But still, I had my heart set on the Ft Collins half and I'm still bummed. Made sure my registration went through this time! GRR!!!

Well we are just back from Florida and I am so bummed out.

This last week has been very stressful (some holiday...long story...), I haven't run in a week and my home scale says I gained 15 pounds

I am assuming that most of that is water weight cause by sitting for three solid days in the van on the drive home but...come ON!!

My last run was last weeekend though and I ran 5.2 miles. My longest run to date and it was AWESOME!! I did it in under an hour and didn't even feel dead afterwards. My plan is to get outside for another run tomorrow morning and flood my body with water to see if I can flush some weight away.

Sigh...

Fat Pants: that is so sad about your registration but perhaps a pre-birthday run is just what the stars had planned for you. Either way, you'll do great, I'm sure.

So sorry to those of you still fighting injuries. Hopefully things will improve for you all soon.

Now that my vacation is over, I will try to keep up with the posts a little better than I have.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend folks!
