  • Quote: i need to get exercising... i have plantar fasciitis and it's been acting up, and i feel like i need to get a handle on the food thing for a couple of weeks (which may or may not be a total cop out excuse!)
Quote: I had Plantar Facitis a few years ago. It sucked! So I totally feel your pain.

    .
I am also struggling with Plantar Faciitis right now. The physio exercises don't seem to be making a difference. What are you/did you do to help and how long before you got better?

Thanks, I will appreciate any advice.
  • Was also a plantar fasciitis sufferer for years. Then my husband read a book by Dr. John Sarno ...mind over back pain. My husband no longer suffers from back pain at all. And I no longer have P.F. or wrist pain which used to be debilitating. I did shoes/sneakers/PT...doctors upon doctors....now....nothing. I walk barefoot all the time. Flip flops all summer. Heels. Doesn't matter what I wear.

    Worth a try?
  • I honestly don't remember what I did. I stayed off my feet as much as possible for about 6 months, and one day it was fine.

I still have bouts if foot pain, but nothing debilitating and much less often now that I have lost weight. I make sure I am kind to my feet, i put them through a lot! I stretch them every day, rub out any problem areas, and wear good shoes when walking or exercising.

Also ice packs help the pain once it starts.

    Hope this helps

I got orthoics made, which did help (though not much). It went away for a while, but now it's back in full swing. A friend of mine got acupuncture for it and had good results, and another friend got a cortizone shot, which I hear is so unpleasant

I feel your pain, it definitely sucks.

lioness, thanks for the workout rundown- I might have to PM you in the future about it!

  • I had plantar fasciitis as well a few years ago and it was horrible, so painful. Mine started when I upped my exercise routine from just walking to jogging as well and not wearing proper shoes. Oh man did I learn my lesson. I hate to say it, but it was probably a year before my feet finally felt normal again. I try to always wear shoe inserts or at least really good shoes, especially when exercising. I also think losing weight helps a lot too. I feel for anyone suffering from it, it really is painful. I tried multiple things I read online to help relieve the pain, but I don't really remember anything that really helped.
  • Thank you so much for all the suggestions. At this point I will try just about anything. I can't wait to get on top of this P.F. so I earn some activity points!
