  • I don't know if I've felt a real "runners high" but there have been some really good runs that I just feel so amazing and so good during that I kind of think of it as the "high". I had a 14 mile run last year or the year before that I still remember and I had a nice 5 mile run last weekend that was really nice too.
  • Hi everyone,

I agree with Lizzyg- the "high" I feel is really usually just an awesome feeling of accomplishment after my runs!

Humid & gross today - I was glad to get about 6 miles in Saturday morning and a great bike ride yesterday. I ran with a girl from my gym on Sat. which is funny b/c I am the queen of solo running and all three runs last week were with someone else but that was nice b/c I push myself more...we also ran into an all women's running group which I might have to join once or twice...

    Welcome all/any new comers!
  • lm - I was just thinking yesterday during my 16 miler that it would be really nice to have someone to run with! DH runs, but not the distances I do, and he is much slower so we don't run together. When we were first starting out, we did, and I miss that....
  • I hate injuries. I'm allowed to run again, but it's still a bit painful. And I'm not acclimated to the humidity, so I have only been getting in really short distances. Boo! I'm finally seeing some pace increases though. I'm going to take it easy and try to keep this new pace and build up speed. I just need to be up to 5-6 mile long runs by August, when marathon training starts.

I did the Color Run with friends this weekend. It was so much fun.
  • Tabbycat: check out the runners world, age gradient chart you will find you are not as slow as you may think!
LizzG: Glad to hear you had a great 5 miler this last weekend

Im3898: I too am a queen of running alone,I have no one here that runs,Iam sure it does make ya speed up when you run with faster runners

Cherry: So when is that marathon?

Nicole: Injury is the worst I am so glad you TRIED to take it easier through it,and are now able to run again! The color runs look fun..as I have said before I live in the sticks nothing like that here!

As for me rested that knee and it feels better did a 3.5 miler took it easy then got home and did weights..I so need to spend more time stretching after...Is anyone else GUITLY!
  • Quote: Cherry: So when is that marathon?
    Half past NEVER!!!!
  • Quote: Half past NEVER!!!!
    Oh yeah sure!
  • Quote: Half past NEVER!!!!
I'm going to tell you the same thing I've told my new to running friends this weekend - I was adamant that I'd never run a full marathon, that a half was more than enough. Now I'm getting ready to start training in a couple more months for a full in Dec. And I said the same thing about triathlons. Now I swim for cross-training and am eyeing sprint tris for 2014. I've stopped saying never because I'm always wrong.
  • $20 on cherry running one!!!
  • Put me in! I ran 3.5 today and did a new cardio cd 1 hr I whipped. I got up at 2 am for so dang reason.I don't sleep we'll any more...it's the pits! I use to love sleeping! Now if I do 5 hrs straight I am lucky.
  • Just checking in ladies- no running for me this week. I had tooth pain Monday that turned into pure agony by Wed and had an emergency root canal yesterday - I DO NOT RECOMMEND lol. Hope you have a great weekend & log a lot of miles!
  • Ran 3.5 on Mon but have a really tight IT band I think going to hand close to home do a 1 hr cardio dvd and weight dvd and stretching today and hope for the best run on fri.
IM#*(* Good luck on the teeth that pain is the worst!
  • Nice work Deva! Toothache somewhat better today - I feel like there might be a silver lining heading my way!! Ideally I'd like to be able to take a nice jog tomorrow - crossing my fingers - these last 10 days have been ****!!!!
  • Tabbycat here.

The heat and humidity on the Texas coast is taking a toll. I can choose between 7 AM (85 degrees and steamy humid) or 8 PM (mid-90s). I have stopped timing my miles and I just go at slow trot until I have done 2 or 3 miles, then I get in the apartment pool and swim laps for 30 minutes.

I don't want to hurt myself (I'm 57) so I will try to just not lose ground until fall when the weather gets cooler. Then I hope to work on getting a lattle faster. Someday there's a sub-36-minute 5K inside me!
  • Headed out for my lunch hour run - 7 miles in 78 degrees and sunny! This is one HAPPY CHICK! Welcome to SUMMER!!!!!
