  • I am MotherandSon
Hi Everyone! I am Motherandson and I could not remember which email account I used and I think I closed it out; so I am SistaDiva 2001 now.\

Anway, I started BFC on January 1. It is now January 20th, I am down 16.5 pounds. My teenage son is halfway doing it and he is down 10 pounds which is still very good considering he has been drinking soda..Only 1 a day which is a HUGE benefit considering before BFC, he was drinking a Liter a day...His money from working and that is one of the things he chose to spend it on.

Anyway, I LIVE the BFC lifestyle. I don't give it a second thought in terms of how I eat. This weekend we were part of a celebration and there was coconut cake, my absolute favorite. I budgeted for two bites of a slice of cake to max my 15 grams of sugar. I took one bite and it tasted horrible! It was cloyingly sweet and just not my thing. I prefer water to anything now. I have Zevia soda, but I only drink those every other or two days. I really think the Stevia has killed my appetite for sweets. When I was using Splenda, I craved sweets all the time..Splenda sweets, but sweets none the less.

    I love Stevia.

You really don't have to buy all of the things that he lists in the book. It is just not necessarry. Those sugar free cookies, chocolates and all sorts of things are things I would not buy regular for the most part. Your taste will change the longer you stick with the program. I don't feel like I am missing out on anything..I have energy to work out and my skin, which has always been nice is RADIANT. I am working out a minimum of 15 minutes a day, but usually more like 30 minutes a day with GILAD, Melt it Off with Mitch, Ellen Barrett or Shapely Girl.

Any diet that allows me to eat potatoes everyday is one I can stick with!!

    Cheers!
  • I bought the book tonight as an early birthday present to me. I do have a question- there are some breakfasts that look EXTREMELY filling- the pancakes with the eggs and bacon on the side as well as the breakfast sandwich with the two sausages, two eggs and cheese. Are these big meals for real? I know they would fill me up until dinner time LOL. I sure wouldn't need much for lunch that's for sure!

I am starting tomorrow. I bought a lot of the stuff from what I read on his website so I have plenty of foods to use for the week. I can't get over all the great food choices there are on this diet. Hard to believe it's low in sugar and carbs!
  • Down 4 pounds in two days. I'm not going to change my ticker until the week is up but I am happy so far with this diet.

How is everyone else doing? I was hoping people would check in daily if they had the time so we could see one another's progress on here.
  • This is working for me, too!
Hi all! I've come out of lurking to post my thoughts on the Belly Fat Cure. I've lost about 4 pounds since I started this plan on Thursday (2 days ago). I'd been doing low-carb since the first week of December and had lost about 14 pounds in total, but had stalled out for the last 3 weeks. I kept gaining and losing the same 3 - 4 pounds, even though I ate only 20g of carbs (max) daily.

Then I read on another message board how someone had lost 30 pounds in 2 months with the BFC, so I decided to buy the book at Costco and give it a shot...and I'm glad I did! If this keeps up, I can see myself sticking with this plan for life...which I couldn't do on Atkins/20g carbs. It's still hard to fathom that I can eat bread and potatoes and still lose, but I can't complain!
  • Hi there - I just picked up the book the other day and my hubby and I are going to start this next month - I read on another post that you don't count sugar or carb grams if they are under 5 - is this correct?? I thought you counted all sugars??
  • Whoa..Correction on The Diet
Quote: Hi there - I just picked up the book the other day and my hubby and I are going to start this next month - I read on another post that you don't count sugar or carb grams if they are under 5 - is this correct?? I thought you counted all sugars??

You should wait for the book. You DO count SUGAR and CARBS. You can have no more than 15 GRAMS of Sugar a DAy or 120 GRAMS of CARBS (6 servings roughly).

I have been on the diet since January 1 and today is January 23rd and I am down 21 pounds. I eat potatoes everyday at one of my meals. Any diet than can let me have potatoes is the diet for me! What I have found by eating this way that there is SUGAR and HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP in SOOOOO many products. NO wonder people are gaining weight. I was never a "SWEETS" person. But, SUGAR was HIDDEN in so many foods that I now "GET
why I wasn't losing weight and having weight issues. I love hot sauce and at the store, I was SHOCKED at how so many Hot Sauces have sugar.

My weighloss have been great, but I do exercise between 10 and 45 minutes a day. ALL LOW IMPACT and CORE BUILDING. I average about 30 minutes a day. I LOVE GILAD! I LOVE MELT IT OFF with MITCH. I LOVE SHAPLEY GIRL walking series which TRUMPS Leslie Sansone. It is more fun and the leader is such a cool New Jersey Housewife type...LOVE HER!! I don't believe in HIGH IMPACT exercise. I believe in consistency, low impact and strength building. Walking is the best exercise you can do. Good luck!
  • 21 Pounds Down since January 1 Now Jan 23

It is truly a lifestyle for me. I LOVE IT!!!
  • Hi everyone. I just joined this site today. I am starting the belly fat cure diet tomorrow and I am very excited! I lost weight a couple a kids ago using the Atkins diet. I think this diet sounds a lot easier. I am very impressed with all the reviews and success I have read.
  • Quote: Hi there - I just picked up the book the other day and my hubby and I are going to start this next month - I read on another post that you don't count sugar or carb grams if they are under 5 - is this correct?? I thought you counted all sugars??
You have to count every gram of sugar- there is no "free sugars" in this diet. You cannot go over the 15 grams of sugar per day and the 120 carbs per day.

I add up all of my carbs from the meals. I know they say that under 5 grams is free but I don't do it that way. I add up the total amount of carbs I eat for the entire meal, then figure out if I've had the equivalent to one, two, or three carb servings in that meal. You don't have to do it this way but I do because I have a lot of weight to lose and want to watch every carb for the time being and don't want to go over a total of (for me- this is a personal goal) 40-80 carbs per day.

Jorge lets you have up to 120 grams a day but for now I'm going to stay at a lower level (40-80 carbs per day) until some of this weight comes off. That's still a lot of carbs and I don't feel deprived one bit!

Like SistaDiva2001 I too am exercising because I want to get in good shape for the spring so I can walk/jog on the awesome track at my kids high school when the good weather starts. I have a recumbent bike (love that bike with the seat that is wide and has back support!) so I've been using it on the lowest level while watching my Bruins games for two periods. One of these days I will make it to all three periods but they had afternoon games recently and I had to start dinner during the third period or my family would revolt.

I am also using my stretchy bands for my arms as well as my hand weights. I have them on a table next to my bike along with my water and pick them up several times during the game and do some light exercises. My arms were killing me yesterday- I didn't realize I had worked them out so much, probably because I was occupied cursing the Bruins for losing and didn't notice I was pumping my arms away. I still worked them out yesterday while watching them game and riding the bike at the same time. Funny but my arms don't hurt me today.

I will start up Leslie Sansone's Walk Away the Pounds CD's very soon as well. I want to do at least 30 minutes to an hour of exercise a day for good health. I'll be doing several different things over this winter just to keep it from getting boring but for now it's Leslie, bike, and stretchy bands/hand weights.

If you have any questions feel free to ask. Good to see another Cruiser on board! Have a great day!

Congratulations on your weight loss! I am so happy for you!
  • Greetings Steelslady!
I am so like you. I count my carbs and I don't do the "free carbs" thing at all. I probably average about 80 or so carbs a day. Not by design, after I learned what I serving "is", I just eat until I am comfortable. In other words, if 80 carbs works for me and satiety, then that is what I eat. ON the weekends, I naturally go up to the 120 mark because I am working out more and it is good for energy.

I think working out is great for reasons other than losing weight. If anyone is looking for a good at home walking video and Leslie Sansone just moves to "slow" for you or is uninteresting, I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend the DEBRA MAZDA Shapely Girl series. Her walking is so much fun the music is kind of disco-ish and she is such the New Jersey Housewife...LOVE HER!!! Her style of walking kind of reminds me of the early aerobic tapes..Kind of retro cool! Don't let the "size" of the girls on the box fool you! This is a much more involved workout than Leslie.

Also, someone was kind enough to "Congratulate me" on my weightloss. Thanks! It is an adventure!!
  • HI everybody. So I completely feel off the wagon and let me tell you those inches come flying back. I measured this morning and 2inches in my waist and 2 in my hips and 2 in my chest came back. No slacking off for me. I didn't think it was that big a deal to cheat for a couple days. Now I see I am sadly mistaken.

All it took was for one cocktail at the bar to spiral me out of control, the sugar cravings came back with a vengence.

Yesterday I did well and today I plan on doing even better. I love the idea some of you are using and counting actual carbs instead of servings. I think that is much easier and will be more beneficial since I have so much to lose.

Also I was thinking would anyone be interested in submitting the S/C ratio for foods we all use often that way it would be a quick reference chart.
I think I am going to start an Excel spreadsheet and add my frequently eaten foods to it so it will be a little easier until I have it all committed to memory. Does that even make sense?

    Have a great day ladies!!

Do you think it was the Alcohol and not the sugar so much? One weekend, I did drink orange juice because I was craving it and it didn't "spiral" for me. In fact, I found it too sweet. I love mixed drinks, and I know most of them use a "simple syrup" + juice. I am PMSing right now and yesterday I wanted something "sweet" so bad, so, considering I don't eat any more than 5 grams of sugar a day, I added a TBLSP of regular Vanilla ice cream to my unsweetened chocolate almond milk and half a Truvia. It was good and it knocked the sweet craving right out. I called 2 Whole Foods in my area to find out IF they could order the CLEMMY'S ICE CREAM. Both said they would get back to me tomorrow after they review the products. I can order it, but I refuse to pay $35 for shipping. If Whole Foods gets it or Trader Joes, that would be fahbulous!!
  • The Bacardi Limon has sugar in it so I think it was that. But I am back on track. Yesterday was great sugar and carb wise.
I bought some sugar free Murray's mint fudge cookies and put them in the freezer, they taste just like thin mints. I also got some SF Jello pudding and jello so that should hold any sweet cravings I have at bay.
  • I thought I would post a quick update. I have been on BFC for two days. I am finding this diet really easy. So easy that I wonder if I am doing something wrong. lol I have decided not to weigh myself until Friday so I will post results then. I have been amazed how much sugar is in foods that I wouldn't have even thought of as having sugar. But I am not having any problems avoiding it. The only difficulty I am having is caffeine deprivation. Until yesterday, I drank about a 2 liter of diet mountain dew everyday. And I bought the Truvia (expensive!) to have in my coffee but there are 3gs of carbs in every little packet and I decided I didn't want to drink 9-12 carbs per cup so I just quit drinking coffee too.
I did have a question. I didn't buy the book and am just going by everything I have read online to follow the diet. I bought metamucil to up my fiber intake instead of making that other shake thing. Is anyone else doing it this way. Any opinions?
Congratulations on all the weight loss. And good luck to those just starting!
