5'3" and 100-110 i think is a reasonable goal for me. i am built very small. and i was less than that only a year ago so i wouldnt look too thin being that weight. and i want to reach 110 by july, thats 3 months so losing 14lbs in that time i do not think is unreasonable.

at 5'3 100 pounds is consider underweight meaning unhealthy.

You may find losing 14 pounds in 3 months hard. Becuase you are already at a healthy weight for your height your body has a harder time losing weight. Because I am so overweight, my body has no trouble losing 14 pounds in one month. You may be able to do it but PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make sure you do it in a HEALTHY way!

anonymous girl - I think what wyllen meant by "reasonable" was is it healthy...not "can you lose 14 pounds by July". I'm sorry, but I've seen several of your posts on here lately, and I think your problems with your weight are much deeper than just the physical side. It's sad that we have these twiggy celebrities as "role models" so to speak, because that makes us younger girls think we should look like they do. I'm not perfect in any way, and I admit to sometimes wishing I looked like Lindsay Lohan or Eva Longoria, but I also have to realize that that's not attainable, and not healthy either. These celebrities are PAID to be skinny...it's basically their JOB. If they're not skinny, they don't have work.

I'm not saying you look up to people like that, but all the media these days are pressuring girls into thinking they need to be skinny. And certainly at 5'3", you already are pretty skinny. I saw on your other post you're a size 2?? I just don't understand how you can look in a mirror and think you need to lose weight. It's sad to me.

I gave you advice in another thread to maybe start working out (lifting weights, etc.) so that you could maybe tone up if you want to look better. I also think maybe you should deal with any issues you may have had while you had your eating disorder, because those issues are not gone. I highly recommend going to a nutritionist and asking for advice. I'm by no means an expert, but you NEED to GO to an expert, because your thinking right now is NOT healthy. I'm sorry if anything I said upset you...but I'm just concerned about you. You do NOT need to be 100 pounds to feel good about yourself. I promise you, you WILL NOT look good at 100 pounds...you'll look sick and weak. Just my opinion...take it or leave it...

I think SusanB has the right idea - weightlifting at 124 would just be about perfect for you. You may not lose much more weight, but it will look like it because you'll be toned up. Weightlifting will also help your bones. So many systems on your body would and will thank you, especially when you get to my age, from the benefits of weightlifting. Having and developing strong bones at a young is vitally important, and with a good, healthy diet as your starting point, your bones will last a long long time. You only have one chance to get it right because after about 25 your bone density won't increase anymore, and the best you'll be able to do is to prevent loss.

Quote:
By the time you are 18, you've accumulated 90 percent of the bone mass you'll ever have. And after you are 25 - 30 you'll have to live the rest of your life on what you've stashed.
From "Body for Life for Women, by Dr. Pamela Peeke

Good luck sweetie - stay smart, read as much as you can on nutrition - you'll find a lot of them say pretty much the same thing in the long run. Use your good common sense in making appropriate choices in food and don't look at the scale so much.

You also may want to check in at your local university to see if they have a body composition lab available to you. They will test you and will tell you what your lean body mass is, and what your total fat weight it. It will help you decide what is truly a healthy weight for you.

Stay healthy - you only have one body!

I agree hun, you need to get some help and make sure you are keeping your body healthy. Also from Pamela Peek's Body For life (love that book! ) :

Because women in Milestone 1 (post puberty, prior to having first child) tend to connect their looks with their self-worth, they are particularly vulnerable to eating disorders. In one 1995 study, it was found that 35% of normal dieters progressed to pathological dieting.

So just please be very careful. When I was in high school I did what you are doing. I skipped breakfast, ate 3 crackers for lunch and only ate what I had to to not have questions asked at dinner. I used to think I would die if I was over 125. Now I am clinically obese and I think my metabolism is just now recovering, getting used to normal sized meals. Don't let it get that far.

yup. Obviously I knew I wasn't the only one who thought about the underweight issue.

It's not even the fact that your losing weight bothers me, but that one time you mentioned eating 500 calories on average and always under 1200 really seems like you need some help. I'm telling you, UNLESS YOU EAT LIKE THIS for the rest of your life, you'll gain it back if you stop. And IF YOU CONTINUE EATING LIKE THAT, then you'll starve to death.

MOST of us are for weight loss, but we ALL PLACE HEALTH first.

Yep! We are as concerned about someone undereating and starving their body as we are about someone overeating. Let us know how you're doing.
