don't have much time...
Welcome Rachel!

Good news! At three weeks, DD was still 2 oz shy of her birthweight. The ped told me to bring her in before her next appt to check her weight. Well I brought her in today and she's gained 9 oz since 12/7/05 (7 lb 7oz)! Yay! She's starting to gain weight. That makes me feel so much better.

That's great news! It's a relief to see them start gaining after the first few days...

Hi!

I'm a newbie here... My name is Sarah-Jean and I just gave birth to my fourth baby 12days ago! I'm now looking to get back to my post-pregnancy shape if not weight and am planning to start a healthy diet (I am notorious for eating junk food!) and exercising regime... Not sure yet how I'm going to manage it or what I'm going to do to achieve that, hence the reason I'm surfing around here!!!

Anyway, looking forward to getting to know everyone better!

Love,

Sarah-Jean

Welcome to the board Sarah-Jean and congratulations on your recent delivery. I delivered my dd back in Nov and am starting to get back to exercising. It's a lot harder with a newborn around - no time lol

Shelly, a lactation consultant gave me some advice to get my son to keep latched on. I wasn't producing enough to keep him on the breast at first and he kept pulling away and refusing. She had me to get him latched on, then have dad dribble milk from a bottle down my breast and into the corner of his mouth. We would do this for 15 to 20 minutes each time for about 2 days before he started staying latched on by himself.

Hey you guys, sorry for the long silence but it has been a long few weeks. One of my uncles died and the one of my other uncles' wife died. One funeral on Friday another the following Tuesday, 900 miles apart. Needles to say I haven't made any dieting progress, but I am starting to cut back. Time to return to work after 12 week maternity leave and getting very depressed about leaving the baby, not sure I can do it? Anyone else have this problem? also, baby is refusing bottle help!!!!!!!!!!

ttmom - I'm sorry for your recent losses. I wish I could help you with bottle issue, but that's one bridge we didn't have to cross. I'm sure other folks will have great advice. GL!

Welcome Jessica! Ouch, the blood blister sounds painful. I hope it heals quickly for you.

TTmom, you might want to try giving him milk from a cup. I haven't tried it myself, but I've heard anecdotal evidence that breastfed babies are sometimes more likely to take milk from a cup than a bottle. Also, if you haven't already, be sure to try a different nipple. I remember when Linda was young, standing in front of this wall of bottle nipples at Babies R Us, trying to figure out which of them was closest to my own anatomy.

JCT, I'll echo the OUCH. The danger level of nursing always goes up when they get teeth, doesn't it?

Thanks for all of the great advice. I have been trying different nipples. I would love to stay home with him for a few more months but husband wants me to return to work.
