My new discovery is PB2. I had read about it here before, but never tried it. It is powdered PB..Initially it did not appeal to me as I am a lover of PB and almond butter. However, on the days when I am cutting back on calories and fat, it is a nice addition to yogurt. It is only 45 calories for 2 T verses 200 calories of P B and only has 1.5 grams of fat.
I will definitely check out that book!

I bought PB2 in anticipation of P3 breakfasts. I never tried it, but DH has been adding it to his chocolate protein shake in the morning and quite likes it. I never thought of adding it to my yogurt. That's a great idea. I would think it might be nice with some banana added and perhaps some granola?

I have been reading the maintenance protocol and decided to try whole wheat pasta as my carbs at dinner with some marinara and meatballs. I was concerned it would make me sick, but it settled ok. I was completely full after 4 bites, lol. I gave the leftovers to DD to take home. I prefer how I feel after eating veggies and protein though. It is a different kind of full. In addition, I did/do feel bloated now. Just reinforces that I should limit wheat, or get rid of it altogether.

It snowed again during the night. Just a small amount, but it is cold outside and dreary. I love Fall but hate when it begins to get grey and cold out. I think we may be in for a long winter in ND.

Back to work I go.

Has anyone experienced a lot of headaches after going to maintenance? I have seemed to have a headache almost every day since I switched.

cassieleeanne, I haven't noticed any headaches since starting maintenance ~4 wks ago. I'm following others on this thread who eat mostly P2, maybe a P3 breakfast. Do you think your headaches are from insulin/blood sugar swings? A new food added? I hope the headaches go away soon so you can really enjoy your accomplishment. Congratulations!

Maile we had 2 inches this morning! Fortunately its all melted, good thing because we are getting two maple trees planted tomorrow.

I have some of the PB2 in the pantry never thought of adding it to my yogurt. Will have to try that.

Laura I had pasta for the first time tonight and it has upset my tummy and made me feel overly full ( only a small serving.) Like you I think I am ok with protein and veggies. I am more and more convinced that grains are no good for me.

@Laura & CrystalWolf, I'm also doing better avoiding grains & sticking mostly with protein & veggies.

btw, for anyone in search of a lo carb coffee creamer, I'm using Muscle Milk sugar-free shake in my coffee. It has a similar nutrition profile as IP vanilla rtd shake, but costs less. (You can cut it with soy or almond milk if it's too sweet).

Laura and Crystalwolf: It could be a long winter if you are getting snow. I am sorry about the wheat reaction to pasta. I used a micropeeler and make noodles from zucchini or yellow summer squash. They are great.

Mars: Thanks for the name of that creamer.

Cassieleanne: I did not get headaches. Could you be getting a reaction to a certain food..maybe one of the carbs you are adding?

Ishbel: I keep thinking of myself going down the up escalator. It helps keep me on track. Sharma has powerful images.

This morning I had greek yogurt mixed with a little pb2 and stevia. I added 1/2 of a sliced banana and 1/ 4 c. Kind granola. Yummy! Very filling.

Maile, I have used my mandolin to make zucchini pasta. It is such a hassle. I found a better gadget on Amazon that the gal on Primally Inspired uses. I will be ordering it, I think it is a Spirelli? She has a recipe for chicken alfredo served over zucchini pasta. The alfredo sauce is made with cauliflower (the best veggie ever!). I figured I would make the recipe but layer it like lasagna since i don't have the little spiralling gadget yet.

Last night we had Vegan chocolate mousse for dessert. I found the recipe on thecleandish.com. DH liked it. I am on the fence. It wasn't bad, but I don't think it was delicious either.

Cassie, sorry to hear about your headaches. I have had no problems yet in maintenance. Rest assured, if my migraines resurface I will start eliminating until they resolve. Probably is a good idea to journal your food to identify anything new that could be the culprit. Make sure to keep up on your water.

Hi maintainers!

Just a lurker for now, reading up and getting ideas for how to keep this weight off.

Just wanted to jump in on the zucchini noodle talk. I have found this to be the best, cheapest and quickest way to make them:

Keep up the great work!

I am not sure what it is from, I am eating pretty much the same as I was on P3 and I was fine then. The only thing I have changed is working out in the morning instead of the evenings.

Maybe I will try switching things up next week and see if that helps, I don't eat much for dinner that could be the problem too. I mostly get the headaches first thing in the morning when I go to the gym.

I believe this can also be a symptom of blood pressure (either high or low). I have had this happen in them morning when my BP is very low.

If that is the case, then some salted water will fix it (for low BP).
cassieleeanne: give it a try and see if it works.

Thanks for the tip Lisa. You are always a fount of useful knowledge!

When I have had headaches I have put a little salt in the palm of my hand and licked it in between swallows of water. For some reason I can't stand the taste of salt water so it is easier for me to get it down this way.

What are you eating for a snack at night (if any) and are you eating a bit (small snack) before the gym to get your body started?
