Scale still at 179.
DH is having pain in his hip that was replaced. When he was supposed to go back to get it checked he cancelled the appointment although I asked him not to. It was just an exray. He put his walker up in the attic where I can't go to get it for him. He's a big man. I can't hold him up. I don't know what to do. This could be from the long drive to the casino. What if this happens while we're there? I can't drive home on the interstate, especially at night. I can just imagine if I refuse to go.
So I'm upset today.
Oh no Carol Sue. I hope he gets to feeling better. My sister has pain in her replacement hip and knee telling her of weather changes. Does he have that too. You may have to quick order him another walker or may his son or daughter could come over and go get the one out of the attic. You have to do what you have to do. I will be praying for him and you.
Nothing new happening here today. Relaxing. I think we may have ham sandwiches for dinner today.
Hope things get better with DH.
DH is feeling better. I don't know if he took something. I love ham sandwiches!
Carol Sue I'm glad he is feeling better. I would suggest that he get walker our of the attic while he can just in case he does need it again.
My ham sandwich was delicious.
Trish,I thought of that but he will say he doesn't need it. I will tell him I might need it! He got up from the dining room table and said he could not walk to his recliner 2 feet away. I could not help him.
I had a weird night. I started taking magnesium again because I was getting foot and calf cramps. No cramps for 2 nights. But I woke up at 4am and nightgown and hair was soaked with sweat. Blood sugar was 76 and heart rate was 90. I ate a miniature Milky Way and some ginger ale. Amazingly I was able to fall right back to sleep for 5 more hours. Overall it was the best sleep I've had in months. But I'm not sure why I was sweating. Blood sugar was not dangerously low but lower than I like it at night. And I don't know why heart rate was up.
I forgot to buy hot dogs for tomorrow. I thought we had some. Wal-Mart has the best price but they will be so crowded. DH wants the hot dogs they have at the casino. They are beef and that's what I buy but they might be "no nitrates" so I will try them. I don't know what else we will have. I'm tired of potato salad but maybe DH will want it.
Carol Sue I think any way you can get him to get the walker where it is available is a smart thing to dp. I wonder if the magnesium is the culprit causing your sweating.
Going today get blood draw for blood match for my transfusion Wednesday.
I've been watching doctors Barry and Gundry youtube videos since I've been told to eat more protein. Gundry doesn't push more, Barry does. I want to come out of this situation by eating healthier and keep my weight going down.
Trish, I have had the sweating before but I can't make the connection. I started back on the magnesium several days ago but didn't have the sweating til last night. DH said it was not hot last night.
I am not sure who Dr Barry is. Do you mean Dr Berry? I wish I liked watching videos so I could watch these doctors. Part of the reason is because DH is usually watching tv at the same time and the other reason is I get distracted looking at them talk.
I think it's important to get enough protein. I know I don't but that's because DH and I don't like the same foods. I hardly ever eat beef anymore. I just don't like it. I like chicken but DH doesn't.
Step daughter and hubby are coming over tomorrow to watch fireworks. DH and I will be eating around 4. They eat much later so I will have food available if they want to eat later. I can't eat late like they do.
Carol Sue It is Dr. Ken Berry (not sure if it is e or a).
I'm tired tonight and hope I can sleep because I have tried to stay awake all day. So here is hoping for a good night sleep tonight for all of us.
Trish, I think it is Dr Ken Berry. I think he is now promoting carnivore. That's ok for those who want to do it but I don't think I will ever do carnivore. I would miss vegetables. Just like I would never give up meat completely. I've heard of Dr Gundry but don't know his beliefs.
I did not sleep good last night.

We went to the store and got hamburger meat on sale, hot dogs bogo, and corn on the cob. I'm making potato salad and baked beans. I called step daughter and told her there will be food so they don't have to eat before they come. I will still eat at 4 but they can eat later. I hope they eat it all because I don't want leftovers. DH won't eat them and I don't need them.
I still have leftovers from dinner last night. We went to Bob Evans and I had fish, carrots and broccoli. I don't want to throw that away but I don't know when I will eat it. I don't want to eat it just to eat it. But I want to be hungry.
Carol Sue I hope the kids finish off the food or will take it home.
I am sorry you didn't sleep. I'm not sleeping good either even with my prescribed sleeping pill. I think I slept so much in the hospital maybe. I get tired and when I sleep I sleep okay but I don't sleep long so I have DH get up when I can and have him settle me in the recliner with water, protein drink . I only call him if I need him to take me to the toilet. I need him to help me lift me off as I push myself up off. I actually decided to go by myself a few minutes ago without him. It was difficult getting up but I made it. I take my cell phone with me because I can call him on the cell phone if I need him. Once I get my blood transfusion, my blood count will come back and I won't be anemic and I can get around on my own again.
Dr. Berry is a carnivore but he doesn't say you have to be. Dr Gundry used to push plant foods but now seems to see the importance of protein. He says you can do keto without giving up foods you like such as spaghettii, but he says you need to fast at least 12 hours a day. Of course the big difference in them is Dr. Gundry is selling high priced pills to take where Dr. Berry says you shouldn't have to take a lot of suppliments.
I want to eat as healthy as possible during the rest of these chemo treatments and then build on that once they are over.
Enjoy your family.
The food is ready but the burgers, dogs and corn will be cooked later when they come. DH already ate. I had half a hot dog. I will eat more later. I cooked some chicken and whatever they don't eat will be for Rusty.
I'm very tired. I will be going to bed as soon as the fireworks are over around 10.
Wehad eggs, bacon and toast for our main meal. We will go to bed early too because we have to be at CHF for my blood transfusion at 8 am.
Our evening turned out fine but they didn't take the leftovers home. They got our grill working and cooked the burgers, dogs and corn on the grill. The fireworks were nice and the neighbors set off more afterwards. So now we are going to bed.
Hope your transfusion goes well, Trish.
Hey everyone!
I wanted to share my personal journey with you all in the hopes that it may inspire and motivate others who may be in a similar situation. A few months ago, I found out that I was prediabetic, and it was like a wake-up call for me. I knew I had to take action to prevent myself from developing full-blown diabetes. So, I embarked on a journey of making positive changes in my lifestyle, and I'm thrilled to say that it has been a success!
Here are some measures I took to avoid becoming diabetic:
1. Diet makeover: The first and most crucial step I took was to revamp my diet. I started by cutting down on processed foods, sugary drinks, and excessive carbohydrates. Instead, I focused on incorporating more fresh fruits and vegetables, lean proteins, whole grains, and healthy fats into my meals. Portion control became my mantra, and I made sure to eat at regular intervals to maintain steady blood sugar levels.
2. Regular exercise: I cannot stress enough the importance of physical activity in managing prediabetes. I began by incorporating daily walks into my routine, gradually increasing the intensity and duration. Soon enough, I found myself enjoying other forms of exercise like cycling, swimming, and even joining a local yoga class. Not only did exercise help me maintain a healthy weight, but it also improved my overall well-being.
3. Stress management: Stress can wreak havoc on our health, and I realized that managing it was crucial in my journey to prevent diabetes. I explored various stress-relief techniques such as meditation, deep breathing exercises, and even took up a hobby I always wanted to pursue - painting. These activities helped me unwind and find a sense of balance in my life.
4. Support system: Surrounding yourself with a supportive network can make all the difference. I joined online forums and support groups where I could connect with others going through a similar journey. Sharing experiences, seeking advice, and providing encouragement to each other created a sense of accountability and motivation that kept me going, even on challenging days.
5. Regular check-ups: I made it a habit to visit my doctor regularly for check-ups and to monitor my blood sugar levels. This allowed me to stay on top of my progress and make any necessary adjustments to my lifestyle.
Anyway, I'm thrilled to report that after a few months of consistent effort, my recent test results show that my blood sugar levels are within the normal range. I have successfully managed to reverse my prediabetic condition and am now on a healthy path.
Remember, each person's journey is unique, and what works for one may not work for another. But with determination, support, and the right lifestyle choices, it is possible to prevent the progression from prediabetes to diabetes.
If anyone has any questions or would like to share their own experiences, feel free to comment below. We're all in this together!
Stay healthy!
foxylady2 Fatmad, Carol Sue and I have found our own health path controling our diabetes. but it is always goood to hear of someone elses successful path. I'm glad you found yours.
Carol Sue I'm glad your 4th went well. We had a lot of fireworks too. We went to bed by midnight which was early for both of us.
Blood transfusion done. Strange how I can have something turn into a problem. When 2/3 of first pint was done, my vein blewout so they had someone who uses ultrasound to find a deep vein. My veins have been through so much. It took longer than it should have because the technician didn't get the message until my nurse called up there. It is good to be home. I do feel more alert and my nurse said that my face has color and she could see my freckles she hadn't seen this morning. My legs are wabbly from sitting so long, but I'm sure they will be stronger the more I walk.
