Sandyfanny: you won't like it. I have gone back to induction, and am being pretty careful. And that mean making and packing food. I also have a bin in the fridge with quick stuff. Pre-packaged old cheese, a few hard-cooked eggs, a cold atkins shake or two. I get called out on short notice and need to take food. But before work, it takes me a while to make the lunch and pack the snacks on todays menu. Its a pain. It takes me an extra 45 minutes in the morning. Its a total pain. I am hoping that it all becomes more routine.
My husband is doing better with helping to plan and prepare appropriate meals.
Every one always says plan plan plan. It helps to have written plans. I mix and match to my own tastes (exchange one breakfast with a another, etc)
but it is much easier to stick to a written plan. I imagine sticking to this for a while, longer than the initial two weeks.
I had a little blip yesterday, I cheated. I was working at a homebirth, and the family put a bowl of fresh ripe plums on the table. One of my fav fruits. and they were perfectly ripe. I ate three (they were the small prune plums)
WHO knew that I would talk about a reasonable serving of fresh fruit as cheating. I didn't eat the cookies and I did eat the appropriate food I brought. I think I ate a bit much over the course of the day, but that is the problem with long hours. ( I started at 5 am and got home after midnight).
The long hours are a problem, I eat to stay awake sometimes.
And I know my sleep remedy was a problem, I used to consume a high carb meal because I would sleep better and longer with that. I have stopped that one.
So Sandyfanny, I know you are being challenged back to school with following Atkins, I hope you went and got your fridge for the classroom this weekend. If you keep the raw materials handy and eat from there, it will help ALOT. I know you said the food prep and time was a worry and I understand that perfectly.
