I'm glad you joined us.
I don't know about the metabolic program. We are on different programs such as counting calories, WW, South Beach, and just healthy eating. Lots of inspiration here and women who really care. I believe when anyone hits the 50's weight loss gets really tough. The 50's are not for the weak at heart.
For me to see a small weight loss I really have to watch what I eat and exercise, exercise, exercise. I also have to change my routine weekly or my body gets used to the exercise and will hang onto the weight. But, every ounce counts. Have you tried eating 5-6 small meals a day and switch your exercise each week? Maybe walk/jog a mile and the next time speed walk for a couple miles. Are you using weights? Try to trick your body to give up those pounds.I had a physical yesterday.
My blood work came back excellent. Low cholesterol 162 and tryglycerides (sp ?) 88. Blood pressue 120 over 80.
I found out I have scholeosis (sp ?)...curvature of the spine....'S' shape. Not once has a doctor told me that and I've to chiropractors too. Actually it's fairly common and you are born with it. My back has been bothering me for about 6 months. I have to lose weight and it's supposed to help.
The doctor is female, looks like she's in her 30's, Vietnamese, and cute as speckled pup in a red wagon.
The reason I mentioned she is Vietnamese is because I wonder if some of the following tips are from her country. She told me that if I want to lose weight in a healthy way I should eat warm meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner in order to burn the food quicker. You can add a small cold salad with the meal but the rest of the meal should be warm in order to lose weight easier. Eating a salad or cold sandwich for lunch will take longer to burn the calories and cause the body to hang onto weight. Hmmm?
I have read that drinking room temperature water is better for weight loss than cold water but never heard of warm food. She also said the three main meals should consist of as many green vegetables that can fit on a plate, a few ounces of lean turkey, chicken, or fish and a lean red meat once or twice a month.
Any vegetable that grows underground (potatoes, yams, onions, carrots, etc), any vegetable that comes from a pod (peas, beans, etc), and any bread, pasta, etc (including whole wheat), can be eaten but only equal to 3 tablespoons per meal.
Daily fat intake should be 25-30 grams. Snack is fruit, low fat string cheese, or low fat yogurt and desert is sugar free jello with 'free' Kool Whip. Calories should be approximately 400 per meal + snacks.
What do you think?
Talk to you later,

It's good that you are waiting on the Wall Mart job. Once the house sells, and it will, you can begin your new job without the stress.

to everyone

on your possible house sale. We are getting a new WalMart Super store here in LeRoy. There was a lot of resistance as we are a small rural town, but last week the town and village board approved it. I was undecided. We need a local place to shop for all those necessities - all we have now is a supermarket, a Radio Shack, and a couple of hardware stores. No place to run out and buy underwear, socks, inexpensive clothes etc. I just hope the new store doesn't cause the businesses we have now to close. Our little main street is alreay full of empty stores. Anyway - I have a good frend who has a high stress job right now who says her goal after retirement is to be a WalMart greeter. Low stress and fun.
