Hi Sherry, so nice to have you back! I’m sorry to hear about your not being able to do the triathlon but glad to see you looking forward to your first bike ride!

Yes, Shrinking Mama… our summer break has shrunk! And it is back to the grindstone. The beginning of the year is always stressful and difficult. I’m hoping things settle down in a couple of days. Good to hear about your public run and bike ride. Wow.. was that Thursday? I have been gone awhile!

So.. let’s see.. Thursday Functional exercise 0.5 point (school related)
Friday functional exercise 0.5 point (school related)
Saturday… worked all day at school but no exercise ..no points
Sunday …recreational walking outside had a actively restful R&R day 0.5 points

Today… busy all day.. but I can’t count it as exercise. I didn’t get home from work until just a little bit ago.. so I’ll have to see about the exercise.. I just might chill and go to bed early.

But tomorrow. I need to be back on track. I must get back on track.

Hello all,

Yesterday I did as I planned and even walked 4 miles last night in an hour. Today I'm still dragging a little but went to the pool and did water running and exercises for 40 minutes. I pulled something in my back last week and it still isn't right yet.

How is everyone else doing?

Shrinking Mama.. hope you are feeling better soon. Take it easy on your back. Just float in the pool for heavens sake!

Yes.. I'm only saying this because I'm totally jealous that you walked 4 miles in an hour! I need time to catch up.

I'm not doing well in the exercise department. I'm not doing well in the sleep department either. Not that I can't sleep.. just that I've pushed myself so much I'm not allowing the time. So naturally I'm not exercising. But I'm still eating healthy... not the healthiest.. but still good choices.

With just 4 hours sleep last night I don't think I will be in much shape to exercise today unless I get home and take a nap first. Such is my life at the moment.

It helps to come here and confess. If I keep doing it I won't stay in denial about how long the "exercise" drought is this time. Especially when I know I have witnesses.

well still here too. A friend and I have been running together and I think I finally got that I need to get more miles under my belt before trying to get faster. So tonight we'll run again. I won't care if I'm slower than I want. I will hopefully go for 4 miles.

Hello,

Today I ran 2.67 miles in 31 minutes and walked almost another mile. I also did Turbo Jam Abs and some light upper body weights. I've been in kind of a rut but it feels like I'm getting it together. Of course I have birthday parties, anniversaries, vacation and company in the next three weeks so I'm just going to do my best and try to make exercise a must.

Jayde - I hope things are starting to calm down so you can return to a balanced lifestyle. You better get going if you want to walk 4 miles in an hour.

Batmom - I just realized the distance/speed thing the other day too. I'm getting so close to the 5k distance (I'm running a 5k in october) that for the moment that is more important than how long it takes. I figure I'll work on the speed when I get the distance covered. Have you recovered from vacation?

Hello,

Today I did Turbo Jam Twenty minute workout and Turbo Sculpt forty minute workout. I took a great two mile bike ride just before sunset. What a joy!

Jayde - Hope you get a chance to catch up this weekend.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Doing our best.. that is all we can do. And is how I felt the past two weeks. Especially this last week when my job didn't include the same physical exercise as the week before. So during all these events "do the best you can... and make exercise a must."

Ok.. the time is so perfect for me to hear these words from you! I'm home this Saturday just chilling and getting in lots of naps. My body is so exhausted it is about to give out. But I did get in 55 minutes with Suzanne on the ball this morning. After not doing it for 2 weeks I could feel my awkwardness. Quite a comedy compared to Suzanne's gracefullness.

I physically can't get on the mill but will see about tomorrow. If I'm not better then I might just focus on getting in pilates or yoga every morning this week before work and go from there.

popping in to say hey I'm still out there exercising just haven't been posting it. I've been running and doing some cross training at the gym. Today was my first of 8 training days for the 10k in Oct. We ran 2.8 mi and boy it's a lot tougher without the treadmill pushing you along...

Shrinking Mama-you are doing awesome!! You be able to kick butt on your 5k in Oct!!

Jayde-I hope you can get some rest. You'll be no good exercising without and be ripe for an injury. Yoga it up if it makes you fel better!!

Hello Sonoma Friends,

Today I ran 2.77 miles in 32 minutes and then walked another .75 miles.

Jayde - Sounds like you need to take it slow this weekend. It's hard to adapt when our schedules change but you'll find your groove again. Naps... I've heard about those. Sounds lovely!

Batmom - It is harder without the treadmill. I'm just starting to experiment with running outside and am finding it difficult to find/keep my pace. Any tips? Will this be your first race?

I've completed an 8k and a 10k last year but both were without enough training and I walked A LOT! This time I really want to do it right and safely.

I'm still trying to learn the pacing thing myself. Once we learn about it in training though I'll pass it on.

Hey ladies,

Batmom - That would be great! I would love to hear what they have to say about pacing. Thanks! It seems like your training is going really well. It's pretty exciting isn't it?

Jayde - I had to let you know that the idea of a nap lingered with me and I decided it was something I needed to indulge in today. I had a Sunday afternoon nap and it was simply delightful! Tired = Rest. Why do we let life get more complicated than that?

Hello,

Today
Turbo Jam 20 min
Turbo Jam Abs 20 min
Light Upper Body Weights
100 Crunches
Walked 5 miles in 1hr & 13 min

Now, if only that would make up for the two pieces of cake I had today. Oh well, sometimes cake happens.

Ya... cake does happen.

Shrinking Mama, congratulations on your 5K! That is awesome! With all this cardio I am living through you and Batmom (pedometer RIP ). I've been keeping up with pilates and yoga each day but haven't had time to drop in and post. Work is starting to settle down although it is still in the crazy range. To add to it we sent our youngest off to college yesterday. Fact is .. you have to be getting plenty of sleep to endure cardio.. so.. I will just keep trying to get my life back to semi normal before I try the cardio again.

hm... our grass needs to be cut.. neither son got around to it before they left... so I guess that will be my start. Boy, I hope it rains all day!
