Hey beach babes!

Today went well. Now I have to run around like a mad woman and finish the laundry, get a walk in, and pack for a business trip. I'll be on the road until Thursday sometime. And I plan on sticking to SBD while I'm away!

Yes, Jenne must get a 50-lb chick! Way to go!! Shopping? One of my favorite pasttimes...whadcha get???

beachgal, sorry to hear about your grandfather-in-law.

Ruth, I haven't read your journal, but if it involves a mess and a washing machine it can't be good. Hope your day improved since.

gonzo, I tried to drink a V-8 this morning, too. Vile stuff. I got about half of it down before I poured it down the drain. I was in a rush for breakfast this morning, so I tossed some (precooked) green peppers and onions on two slices of lean ham, added some string cheese and some mustard, rolled it all up and microwaved it to melt the cheese. It was really good!

Okay, now I've really got job envy...Mamacita AND RNMom both get to stick needles in people. They just won't let me do that in the office.

Okay, the suitcase beckons...hi to everyone...see you when I get back from Ypsilanti, MI.

Default hey all

It's late on this beach, but I'm posting. Started a new job today am I'm not sure now I feel about it. It isn't my comfort zone. Give me a crazy ER. I'll work ER parttime and hospital education parttime.

Staying OP and doing OK. Too tired tonight to exercise though. Woke up at 2:30 and couldn't go back to sleep.

Mamacita, not all RN's are brutal when taking your blood.....just the lousy ones. You come on over and I'll be so gentle you'll never know you were poked.

RNMOM, I'm ROTFLOL!! I was wondering all day if you'd see that. Funny thing, every single RN I know HATES doing blood draws and will avoid it like the plague, leaving it up to us bloodsuckers. These ladies really were trying to help, but oh, the poor patients...they'd come staggering over to me covered in bandaids, and then when I observed the nurses, they'd have those 21 gauge needles shoved into teeny tiny veins up to the hilt. Yeesh! I've been trying to start a quiet revolution here in GA to get a program started so us phlebos can start IV's. Would really free up time for the RN's..time, I know, is something you never have enough of. Maybe someday.

Ruth, what in the Sam Hill is a "Bloody Caesar Salad"???? Sounds truly disgusting!

Wildfire, had to really laugh at your job envy! Don't tell anyone, but I REALLY feel sorry for any of my ex-bosses if they ever come in for a draw. I'd never hurt them, but the look on their face would be a real Kodak Moment.

HAGN, everyone!

Mamacita

Default Well mama

i've been told I can start an IV on a gnat's eyebrow....how's that for good. There's a couple of us ER nurses that get calls from all the other floors "can you PLEASE start an IV for me...this patient has no veins".......waaaaaaa

I go to start the IV and I'm thinking of some movie called "psycho". (never saw it, just the part where the music is creepy and you see the shadow of the knife repeatedly stabbing) those nurses gotta go.

My motto with drawing blood is "well honey I'll stick ya till ya bleed" oop, JUST KIDDING.

I can tell I'd love having you around!

Default You vant to draw my blood?

Mamacita,

Are you a blood drawing expert????? If so I may need to make the hour long trip to Atlanta next time I need bloodwork!!!!!! I have small veins that tend to roll, so going to the dr/ having surgery is a pain!!! When I had my blood work done to do my internship at the hospital in the marketing department, it took the RN 10 times to get a drop!!!! My fiance (now husband) was with me and I scared the crap outta him because I screamed so loud. But I mean-- 5 pokes in each arms is not a pleasant thing... especially if you hate pain as much as I do!!!! I was in a car accident and they had to put the IV into my chest because they couldn't find a vein!!!!

At least now he knows the power of my lungs if he ever ticks me off.
