  • Wake up, sleepyheads! It's a gorgeous May morning out there. The Girls and I had coffee and bones on the deck and watched the sunrise. I thought there was a cat around because I could hear mewing and wondered why the Girls didn't react. It was a catbird! Smart doggies knew the difference!

Hersh was a doll at Church yesterday and so were all the other dogs! After the service there was coffee and the Church ladies had water and a big bowl of dog biscuits for the dogs! I dashed into a garden centre on the way home and finally found some rosemary for my herb collection. It does not survive the winter around here and I missed bringing it indoors last fall.

Sarah and Gail both arrive at 9 this morning so I'm scurrying around. What's happening on your stretch of The Beach?

    Set 'n gab a while!
  • Good morning, Chicks~~

Ruth, sounds like you had a very nice day yesterday.

I did, too. I worked at a health fair sponsored by the Atlanta Korean community Lion's Club. We did around a hundred blood draws. (I had a couple of RN's assisting me. Note: You do NOT want an RN drawing your blood!! They are brutal!! )

They fed me lunch, which was Korean style sushi or Kim Bab. Very tasty! I only ate a small amount though, b/c of the rice.

When I got home, dh and BIL had dinner almost on the table. Lovely ribeye steaks, and salad. (They had baked potatoes)

I was able to get in a little spinning time while waiting for the steaks to grill. Nice way to unwind after work (sorry for the pun, couldn't help myself!

After dinner we sat out on the back deck just enjoying the lovely dusk. Robins were out on the lawn helping themselves to whatever bugs they could find and a few bats flitted overhead.

Tonight dh and I walk. We keep driving by a park that is under construction, hoping that it will be ready soon. I can see a wonderful walking trail that they've installed and it's less than 2 miles from our house. Can't wait. Nature walks beat the mall all to pieces!!

Well, must get hair dried and get presentable for work.

All of you have a wonderful day on the beach~~

  • Groan! I though spinning was WINDING, not UNwinding! Have I been doing it wrong all these years?
  • Mornin' everyone! Just finished up breakfast with dh and the kids...a rare treat on a Monday morning. However, my allergies are in full bloom, and later this afternoon I need to take DS to the doctor, so I'm playing hookey from work. shhhh! I really never call out sick, except for when my DD is sick. DS is old enough to deal with himself, but not quite old enough to drive himself to the doctor yet! (Six more months and he will be!!)

So today will be low key. DH took the day off too... (now he is REALLY playing hookey!! ... LOL) It's been raining at some point everyday and he is wanting to get the yards mowed while the sun is shining!

Birdlady....I did interview at a firm on Ventura and Hayvenhurst...can't remember the name of it... was in the Wells Fargo building. My last job tho, before we moved was for an insurance defense firm in Warner Center. I LOVED that job. We moved for a multitude of reasons...we had been praying about it a lot and felt like the Lord was leading us here. Also, the reason it even came up was because DH is a drummer and was wanting to play more christian music. We thought it would be a great place for the kids to grow up....we could actually afford a "normal" sized home, etc. We love it here. It's been a rough time though. DH was diagnosed with MS shortly after we got here, and he isn't really able to play drums much anymore. That's been rough because it was his sole job in L.A. We've definitely had to adjust....but are doing great now. Oh...and my boss is one of those naturally skinny people too....probably weighs 110 soaking wet, and is about 5'6".

Well...gotta get my daughter to school...another luxury of being home... I actually get to drive her!!!

Meal plan for the day is cobb salad for lunch and pork chops for dinner w/ broccoli. I have class until 9:00, (I go to school online)... so dinner has to be real quick!!

Hope y'all have a great day!!

  • Cjane: I was born/raised in Quebec. I grew up around Montreal and lived in the Eastern Townships while I was at University. I love the province, hate the politics. Now I live in Ottawa which is 2 hours away from Montreal. I visit my parents and friends there frequently. I made stuffed peppers for supper last night so I am trying to figure out dinner tonight.

Ruth: My beach is okay, but I am retaining water right now. I decided to make the upcoming weekend a 5 day weekend. I have a compressed day on Friday and I am heading to Toronto for the bulk of the weekend. Tuesday I'll start making all my moving arrangements and do a detailed "to do" list for the move.

Mamacita: we're having great weather here. I even convinced my BF to come on a walk with me last night!

    Cheers!

  • morning all.

I feel crappy. Not really sick, although my allergies have got me, but just "not wanting to be here at work" crappy.

I forgot to weigh this morning to mark the end of two weeks -- but that's okay since I am sticking to Phase I for another week or so. I did have a Skinny Cow ice milk bar last night for dessert. Well, for dinner really since I ate lunch so late, all I had were some veggies and that. Oh well. We'll see tomorrow morning.

I shopped my heart out yesterday and am actually SORE from it this morning!

Other than that, it's another Monday. Happy to read your updates Ladies!
  • well, i'm not really liking the meal i made for breakfast this morning. it was this recipe for little spinach quiche cups, but i think i overcooked them or something. uck.

    i'm also trying a v8, even though i swore i didn't like it. yeah, still don't. UGH.

i have to firgure out better south beach breakfasts or i am NOT going to be able to do this. they need to be fast, too. i enjoy my sleep and often get up 30 minutes before i have to leave.

other than that, things are good. went for a hike with a friend yesterday and also played DDR. good workouts. today i'm heading to the gym to do my physical therapy stuff. i packed a salad for lunch, plus i'm bringing some snacks. i should be good to go.
  • Happy Monday all!

Well, I must be starting to feel comfortable here b/c this is my first time posting to the chat thread.

I had a nice weekend myself. The husband and I spent Saturday helping Mom clean out her basement to get ready for the new expansion they're putting onto her house. It's an exciting thing b/c she's wanted to build onto the house forever . We spent Sunday with hubby's parents. They took us out for lunch to a Chinese restaurant, where I did my best to stay on plan but the egg roll was too much temptation for me. Don't know about you guys, but my stomach rebels now when I eat things that aren't on plan. I paid dearly for that egg roll later!

Did a little flower shopping yesterday afternoon as well. We're experimenting with doing a monochromatic thing with our flower pots this year. Thought I might get some rosemary and basil and maybe some tomato plants to grow b/c I use a ton of those since I started on SB.

Work is nice today. We're in between Spring and Summer semesters at the college, and everyone graduated last Friday, so it's nice and quiet here. I work in a college town. Two universities and a community college, so it's like a ghost town when all the kids leave for summer, but the driving sure is nice once they're gone!
  • Quickie... Ruthie, just came in to give you a big hug. I read your journal entry, but can't get in to post. You know I love you...
  • Well, things are a bit better now. I have a new washer arriving on Friday morning and wonderful Gail and wonderful-in-training Sarah moved the old one outside and cleaned up the mess! I also treated myself to a Bloody Caesar with lunch! **** happens!
  • Holly -- just make am omlet! I do it everyday. Then again, I do not mind repetitiveness in my breakfast. I fill it with different veggies and make 2 slices of bacon in the microwave while the eggs are cooking. Takes a total time of like 5 minutes [that's with prep too. I try to, on Sunday night, cut up all my veggies if fresh or just buy frozen/canned] so that way it's only a matter of slapping it together.

Glad to see you are feeling better Ruth!!! I am too.
  • Jenne, your stats are amazing! Congratulations!
  • Thanks Cjane!!!!
  • Hey, how does Jenn get a 50 pound chickie? I think she deserves one!!! Good going, Jenn!

I am back today...my DH's grandfather passed away last Tuesday and we drove out to WI on Thursday for his visitation and funeral. Thankfully, I was able to stay as close to OP as humanly possible while there...I brought a lot of food, and was surprised at the number of choices available at the rest stops! BTW, Panera Bread (despite the name) is awesome for SBD! They have wonderful salads and soups...and I even ate a small sourdough roll!

See my journal for the endless details if you want. Overall, it went well. My DH and I are both really sad, but Grandpa had cancer and we knew this was coming. We did a lot of mourning a month ago when we found out. I am just really glad that I faced such a stressful situation and was able to stay OP!!! I even lost some weight! I am teetering on the edge of 300 and so excited to say goodbye to it forever!!!

Tonight we are having a chicken and soba noodle salad from Cooking light. It has carrots in it...who knew I would be this excited about carrots?
  • YAY Beachgal!!!!!!!! That rocks!!! I know I am excited about getting to the next century in weight

a 50 chickie sounds good thanks for thinking of me. I am nervous about my weigh-in tomorrow. I want 199 or less so bad, I can taste it.

But that's not to say that I didn't have 3 helpings of pistachios today...No more nuts for me. They are the spawn of the devil -- and addictive too!

And Ruth, when did you get to ONEderland???? CONGRATS!!!!
