Plans are only invitations to disappointments...hows that for cynical. No major plans. Weight training is in full bloom now... getting ready for 50 mile bike ride with brother later this week in Southern Ohio.Love the look on his face when he sees me now after all those years of being supportive of his fat brother. He always wanted me to get in shape but was kind, too kind, never mean, never pressured, never judgmental, always loving. I'm as much pleased for him as for me. Hope it isn't boiling hot. Pat and I will drive down She will drive with SIL to small town 27 miles from their home and antique. Brother and I will ride up to have lunch with them and ride back have dinner, swim, she will drive me back to Pa. Pretty easy ride along Little Miami River-under tree canopy most of way. Bugs won't be too bad this early in year(I hope) Today is Monday(maintain)tomorrow is Tuesday(maintain)etc....Ladies I wish you a week of peace and harmony. And Keep on the Sunny side! I think I hear Sam knocking over tools in the garage and if he wakes Pat we're both dead! As far as recipes, I'll have to defer to the water boiler! Noodles? Are you awake girl?

    Jack,
Good luck to you and your brother sounds like lots of fun! I have had a bit of trouble sticking with my diet and new way of eating this weekend. I guess I was a bit stressed and sometimes thats all it takes to get off track. But today is Monday and I need to get back to doing the right thing and thats eating right, exercising and relaxing when possible. My son and his wife are due in next week from Seattle and we will attend a wedding in Maine. So I better be good this week cause next week it will even be harder. I wouldn't trade them coming for a visit for all the calories in the world. Well gotta get off to eat some breakfast and get started for the day. Good luck everyone with your goals this week and just know your not alone out there!

  • Good luck to all the travellers this week! Being on the road is tough.

Jack-I read about a bike trail/trip along the Little Miami River last time I was in Columbus (DD is is at Ohio State) and it sounded fabulous! As long as it's not scorching hot, sounds like a lovely ride. Hope you and your brother have fun and his eyes roll out of his head when he sees you

Meg-Your schedule sounds daunting, even for WonderWoman. I think Julia will need that tequila bowl in NM, better put it in the keepers pile I'm in the process of sorting through old pans and dishes in our basement to send to my DD who is also moving, but only 1 mile from where she currently lives. Luckily there are lots of guys with pick-up trucks in Ohio

    Hello Skyfirefly!

My plans? Continue to eat clean and heal. Every day gets a little easier, but I still can't lift anything heavier than one or two water bottles without pain. Hopefully, I'll be allowed to do some light walking after my dr. appointment this morning. I've been trudging around the house and up and down stairs, but nothing that takes more than about 3 minutes of sustained motion. I haven't stepped on the scale since the morning I went into the hospital so I've no idea where I am, but I've eaten 100% clean. I have this terrible image of my muscle wasting away, but not much I can do about it

  • Hello gang!

Jack - that bike trip sounds like heaven to me! Can I come?

Mel - Happy to hear you are healing well...

    Skyfirefly -- Welcome!

Megster -- I'm tired just reading your agenda for the next few weeks!

As for moi not much this week except, if the weather keeps up, I'll be biking my buns off...YAY!!!!

    Later all!
  • Afternoon all,

I just ate the yummy extra stuffed peppers I made for supper last night. mmmmmm. I am having a little garden salad with it. Veggies have never been a problem for me.

Anyways, thanks for letting me ramble in the last thread... I actually lost weight without focussing too much on the issues that made me fat in the first place.... .. Anyway, it's weird, my family's combined weight loss was something like 450-480lbs or something like that. Now the three of us kids who lost weight (my third bro rebelled against the rest of us and gained) are about 15lbs over each of our goal weights and my mom has gained a lot this past year (she's been depressed)... the only one who has maintained has been my dad, I think partially due to the fact he could die if he doesn't control what he eats, but I also don't think he ever had the emotional ties to food the rest of us have... he still smokes and I wish he would quit (I've tried to convince him, so has my mom, his doctor, everyone).

Meg: Although I plan one cheat meal a week (can't do the day, but one cheat meal away from home I can handle), but I was having problems binging on everything in sight... particularly cereal, flat soft tortillas, pita breads and toast after I ate something like one candy bar or had a sugary brunch.. It was awful. What was worse I never ate that badly even what I was overweight... I know I am a sugar addict. Five weeks here I come BTW, I too will be on the road next weekend (going to see my brother in Toronto), what protien bars do you eat?

Jack: I gotta take my bike out of storage and start biking to work 2-3 times a week! I love what it does for my legs.

Mel: take care of yourself... you won't lose all of your muscle or anything. At least you're eating clean, that's wonderful

    Skyfirefly: Maine is so beautiful!

    Cheers!

    Ali
  • Hi All!!
I'm here. Still trying to get on this morning schedule thing. Yesterday I went clean happy and cleaned for 5 hours. Then my soul-cousin & his G/F came over and had dinner with us. Then hubby fixed her computer. He is the man everyone calls when their pc's break down. I told him he needs to start a business doing this but I got the funny look.

Ohhhh Meg...I love it here too!!! I do miss Portland though, but not the cold weather. Noodles doesn't do good in cold weather.

Mel: Hang in there!! Do we get to see pics after you are all healed??

    Jack: Our favorite !! Hi.

    Skyfirefly: Pretty name!!

    Lanaii: Boo.

Sweatergirl: Too hot here for sweaters now. Want mine?

Today I am going to finish up the wash, put the dishes away, clean my office desk, exercise, go grocery shopping, and start preparing for this weekends tournament. Sounds great huh. Ahhhh the fun of Mondays...Ohhh..hubby just came home. Poro guy is sicker than a dog. Allergies. Not enough sleep + wind blowing = achoooo!! I feel so bad for him. I'll go scratch his back.
  • Lookie What I Got!!
Well, tonight was our bowling banquet night and...I made off with a few "goodies" that I didn't expect!!

Hubby & I both took 1st Place League High Series Handicap--Received a Special Pin & Cash. I didnt think I won because the week before we were done bowling I got bumped back down to 2nd, but apparently I reclaimed my title at the last minute!! Yippee!!

We also took 1st Place in Team High Game Scratch, Team High Game Scratch Series, and Team Champions. We got cash for all of these and special League Champion pins for winning 1st place. I also have the chance to purchase the League Champion Ring. Oooo I'm going too. I won't see another one of these in a longggg time so I might as well soak it up now while I can. I'm going for the gold one you see there in the middle of the pic, but I am going to get my birthstone (sapphire) in the middle. I am trying to figure out the engraving. On 1 side I will have "Angel" & the other side "Noodles", but what to put on the inside?? Never had this kind of decision before.. Maybe I will put I LOVE RATS inside.

I decided to go to Wally World after bowling and spend some of my loot. I have had my other fish tank set up and cycled since Sunday, so it was time to get a fish. Well I wanted a colorful one so I went and browsed the bettas. There was this beautiful blue one that kept swimming right up to me whenever I would walk by so I decided he was the one and took him home with me to his new palace in the water. I also bought some dark chocolate 's. Hey a bag lasts me almost 2 weeks so I deserve a little treat!!

Anyhow, here's a pic of my "loot". Hub ran off with some of the cash so...I only got part of it in there for ya. Time to rob his wallet.
    <innocent blinking-eyes look here>

  • Congrats Noodles!! Why don't you write "WINNER 2004!!" on the inside of your ring...Because it seems that you are in all aspects of your life lately...Great keepsake too!
  • Congratulations, Noodles, it sure looks like you hit the jackpot! You could have your hubby draw some rats bowling, and make that into a fun T-shirt.... er, that would be right up your alley... (sorry, couldn't help myself).
  • , Girls!! ALL of those ideas are great!!

My brain is fried...I was up because I was working on some late night stuff that I should of just waited to work on. I get on a roll and can't stop until it's done. And here I am again...up at 10:30 am, working!! ugh. I have to try to stay up all day for the next 3 days and get to bed at a decient time on Friday night because I have a tournament to judge Saturday and if I don't get enough sleep, I become a brat! That's not good when theres a bazillion screaming kids running around.
  • Cool stuff, Noodles!

Pookie -- that's a GREAT article! Thanks for sharing it. I thought this part was VERY eye-opening:
    Quote:
Eat whole foods: For 40 grams of carbs a day, you could eat a half-cup of lentils, a cup of carrots, an orange, and a slice of light seven-grain bread -- for a total of 274 calories.

Those foods contain plenty of natural fiber and lots of vitamins and minerals. Getting those 40 grams from low-carb snack foods might give you 1,440 calories and few other nutrients.
Congrats on the 40# gone, you little hamster, you! BTW, is your sister's surgery coming up soon? Is she excited/scared? Will you be taking care of her afterwards? Let us know when it's all going to happen, OK?
  • Butting in here (but hoping to be a maintainer sometime this year!). . .

Noodles, I read your signature and was wondering if you had ever seen the Summerwind Skippers? They are a group from Boise, Idaho, and have won lots of competitions and been on television shows. My daughter was in the jump rope club when they first started about 10 years ago, but she never competed. The PE teacher started the club because she felt kids weren't getting enough exercise.

    Hi Sheila!!

No, I've never heard of them. Mainly because I am down here in the Southwest. The Northwest has a different division than us. If they go to nationals though, I will hear of them this year. I was suppose to go to nationals last year in Detroit but I was recovering from surgery so I had to cancel. There seems to be a trend with PE teachers starting jump rope clubs...My daughters PE teacher (who also got me into this jump rope thing) stared the club at the school. We have 3 teams out of my city, one producing the National Champion. Now THAT is something to watch!! Fun to judge too!!

Meg, My sister is being operated on Wed June 2nd in exactly two weeks and she is VERY nervous. The whole family is. Her health is SO bad (very very bad diabetes // very bad arthritic knees // very high blood pressure //sleep apnea etc). I think this is going to be just in the nick of time for her. I hope she gets thru it and comes out the other end. She is 9 years older than me and I knew this was THE year I had to do something because I was just starting to head in the same direction as her. I don't have diabetes YET, but my numbers are very close to getting it (borderline). I did not want that to be my future. Just like me she was trying to lose some weight beforehand but she was not able to. But thanks for asking and I will keep you posted. --Pook
    Pookbear:

**Hugs** to you and your sister. I'll say a prayer.

The diabetic thing is what woke me up too. When the Doc said either lose weight or go on shots, I flipped. I had had enough shots with the weekly methotrexate (chemo)for 3 years. All be damned if I was going to stick myself daily!! Something in me just clicked with those words and I took action the next day and haven't looked back. Just forward. I finally put my glucose monitor and strips up on auction this past week. I hadn't used it for months, so it was time to go...I don't really know why I hung onto it for so long, must be the pack rat in me. But anyhow, hang in there!! You're on the right track!!
  • Oh What A Night...
    So much for sleep...

I've been up since 10:30 am Wed. with a 1 hour nap. I was dead tired by 9 PM but my daughter was up sick so it scared the tired right out of me.

The poor kid... Tomorrow is her last day of school and she can't go in this shape. She has been throwing up and can hardly stand. Poor thing didn't even make it to the toilet. She got it all over her clothes/hair/etc. Ugh... Hubby, the dea that he is, went out to get her 7-Up at 12 midnight. She couldn't keep it down. I told her if she can't keep any fluids down by morning, she's going in!! I gave her a warm bath and brushed her hair and put the bucket next to her. She's sleeping now so that's a good thing but now *I* can't sleep. So I've just been working on auctions. Slower way to get rid of stuff, but hey I'm still de-cluttering!! If you want to check them out, my seller ID is the same as here: Noodles913.

Scratch that..she just got up again...poor kid. I feel helpless as a mother in times like these.

Well, I will miss all of ya!! I'll be scarce then gone completely for 3 days after Friday. Tournament time ya know. Unless the kid doesn't get better. Then the tournament can kiss my . I shall return Monday!! Have a good weekend everyone.
