I'm sorry you're going through this! My lo never had a "nursing strike" which is what it sounds like yours is doing. There is some great info at kellymom.com about bringing baby back to breast after a strike, you should check that out.

Meanwhile, try not to stress because that only makes it worse, your anxiety heightens the baby's anxiety, nobody can relax, latching and letdown can't happen.

Be good to yourself, this will resolve.

And good luck!!

No better advice than has been given, but hang in there!! Hopefully the SNS helps you while you get things figured out. I know it's all a major pain, and I hope for your success. Every oz of breastmilk they get counts!!

At this point I'm still battling with this. I now have him on the SNS system and my dh is going out to rent me a hospital grade pump since my sucks to no end. LOL I'm hoping it will get my supply high enough where I can nurse him without pumping. I imagine it will be my greatest fight since nursing my others but since he's the last one, I think I can suck it up and run the course.
Thank you for all your encouragement and stories.

OMG! I LOVE HOSPITAL GRADE PUMPS!

*wishes she had an extra 1500 dollars to buy one*

I rented one for a month inbetween my pumps and I LUVSED it SO MUCH! And I liked watching the metal rotating weight on the inside, it was fascinating and an incredibly great pump all at the same time!

If you need to buy one though, I got the Ameda Purely Yours, and it lasted me over 3 years and 2 kids and always worked GREAT! It only broke when my two toddlers decided to play tug-o-war with the tubes and cracked it on the floor when I left it out one afternoon!

I went back to the hospital to order another one (they're relatively cheap, like 100-150? I think?) and it was such a great reliable little thing, but they were out of stock. So I "had" to rent the hospital grade one for the month while the new one was coming in. I suffered so much that month ^_^ Not easy to tote around to work though :P But AMAZING to use at home!

My main goal is to just get through until he turns 6 weeks (he's 3 weeks now) I'm hoping it'll be easier. I haven't left the house since he was born, its been constant nursing sessions. and now to throw in pumping every 2 hours to my day seems unreal. I so want to throw in the towel but the fact that he can't handle the "Gentle formula" which gives him constipation. Its so fricken hard to see my tiny little one struggling to go poop. It would just break my heart to give up and watch him go through all that just so I can have it easy.
I can't tell you how many times I've cried in frustration but in the end this is the only right decision for my little guy. I'm not saying I'm some super mom for doing this at all. The struggle that I go through when I decide to give up then I remember his little face looking at me when he was struggling just breaks my heart.
