Ladies, after reading all your posts (and there's quite a few), I didn't know whether to laugh or cry! While the ignorant remarks of some individuals made me angry enough to cry (both for the sake of their stupidity and the feelings of the recipient), some of the combacks made me giggle. You ladies are an awesome force to contend with.
Shall I share my "fat comment" story? Last summer I was out in the front yard working on the flower garden while my youngest (then not quite six) was across the street playing with his friend and another neighbor's child (a boy too old to be playing with 6 & 7 year olds). At one point this older child started playing too rough (wrestling the littler kids on the pavement). I yelled over for him to stop which he did after shooting me a dirty look. All of a sudden Shane (my son) started yelling at this kids. He was so mad he was red in the face! I quickly walked over to see what the problem was. Just as I got there I heard him say "My Momma's not fat! She's chubby! And you're a poop-head!"

OK, the "poop-head" part I had to speak to him about but coming to my defense was precious! Oh, by the way. He refers to me as "chubby" because earlier that summer he had described another neighbor's child as "fat" when he couldn't remember his name and he wanted to go play "across the street with that fat boy". I explained that calling anyone fat would hurt their feelings and that he wasn't really fat just a little chubby (actually, the child was obese but that's another issue).
Sorry for the long-winded story but it makes me smile to remember it so I thought I'd share it with you all! Hope it made some of you smile, too.
