hmmmmm! Janice! I can only give you the non techie version of a pain pump....susan would be able to give you the real deal I am sure or Jiff if she ever shows her shining face around here.

NON Techie version:

It is a thing-a-majig that they attach to your veins or some part of your body (I have no shame!)
and when ever you are in pain you squeeze the darn thing and it gives you a dose of really cool pain meds.

could some one please give a more accurate description.....OH JIFF???? gosh darn that girl!

Maybe they could get me a reality pump huh huh huh?

sincerely,
no name, no date, no location

Okay Peachie---don't stress---think I got it!

If it hurts, you push a button and you get GOOD DRUGS? Pretty cool. Hope Deb doesn't need that button too often!

J

I know who you are-I know what day it is AND where you live-hehehe Glad Debs dh is keeping you posted.

Thanks Peach!

First of all, Peach, HI to you!

And next time you talk with Debbie's dh, tell him to plant a big kiss from me on her cheek, and to tell her I am praying for her to feel better and get skinny soon.

For a more techy explanation, a "pain pump" is a morphine pump. Yeah, it is the bestest of good drugs. It is attached to the regular IV (intravenous) line and is set in a special pump. When you start to feel pain, there is a button on the end of a cord that you press and the pump delivers a dose of morphine. It unfortunately is set to deliver only a certain dose (whatever the doc orders for you) each time pressed, with a lock-out feature where you can't get any more for a certain amount of time, like 10 minutes or so. Push that button endlessly and you get nothing until it is time to get another dose!

They have found people use lots less pain medication after surgery if they can get it quickly and get it before pain gets severe.

I am glad Debbie was willing to do what she felt she needed to do for her health. I beleive we must overcome our society's insane obsession with young and skinny women, and begin to allow us to see oursevles as beautiful. When we have medical complications that can be lethal, we need to do what we can to correct the cause of those complications. In that case it is imperative to lose weight by whatever means we have available. But for the rest of us, we still need to accept ourselves as we are and not obsess over wanting to look as though we were teenagers. Wear you wrinkles, your age spots, your big hips and your grey hair with PRIDE!!!

Oh, I DO speechify, don't I???

My best to Debbie, and to Jiff too. I have missed chatting with her. Hope she is well. Last I heard she was in the hospital. Jiff, you okay now?

Thanks Peachy Keen for keeping us posted. You are such a sweet person!

Talking Some GOOD news from the SOUTH!

The phone rang today....and low and behold it is Debkay on the phone! She is doing well, sitting up, sucking on ice and maybe going home today or tomorrow. I am sure that when she feels up to it she will check in and say hi! (I don't think she says hey...she is very polite!) It was REALLY GREAT to hear from her...kind of miss that chick!

Speaking of missing chicks! Hey! Giggles Thanks for the description of the pain pump! There is a lock out feature? can it be jimmied? No word yet on the reality pump? bummer for me. I understand the love all of me thing...I think that I am pretty much there at least part of the
time...but the grey hair? That really is kind of pushing it! I am very much NOT there on that one! preferance by loreal medium ash brown!

Jiff is doing pretty well. She is living with mom and does not get a whole lot of computer time. Her surgery has been moved up to January 29th and she is pretty excited about it.

peach
who is NOT as sweet as she used to be...she is on the journey of finding her inner witch...who once again is bangin back beers with the whoosh and tooth fairies down at the neighborhood dive.
