Morning all,
We had a good barbeque yesterday. The weather forecast was for thundery showers in the afternoon, however I had a word with the weather gods and they held off until the guests were nearly ready to leave. Then they let all **** lose and my guests had to stay for the next round.
I was so busy yesterday, I managed to read but not to write. The boys came home from wherever and then got stuck into the heavy work, shifting chairs and tables etc. We have food left over that I shouldn't have to shop for anything but vegetables over the next couple of weeks.
We celebrated the DS2's new job - which he doesn't start until February next year, so this has been nearly a year in the making!!!

and he is now considering going on holiday. I was hinting that he might like a working holiday in the States, fixing all the problems you ladies have, however I think he's more into backpacking in Ireland or Iceland or somewhere. I hope it wasn't Iran or Iraq! Little hothead that he can be, he'd be either running the country or running the jail gangs before the weekend was over.
Laura - good that you had a great time with your friend. And I am pleased to hear that she is benefitting from the conselling. Good for her.
Happy - Happy hairdressing
Mel - good that you can get some of that debt paid off the credit card. Wonderful things but not if you let them control you instead of the other way round. We had a bank manager at our bbq last night. We had a long involved discussion about investments, long term savings and the lack there of. It seems that we haven't yet learned our lessons about putting aside for a rainy day and if our banks weren't regulated the way they are, then many of us would be headed for the bankruptcy courts.
It seems that some of our bankers went to the government for permission to set up systems the same as the American banks were. Some far sighted politician (he must have left, since there doesn't seem to be too many thinking ones in the house at the moment) said no. And that's the only thing that stopped us from going the same way as you lot.
Annie - hope you have a good date with Bo. Eat up, then you can starve it off during the week. Thanks for the :kick: in the butt wake up call. I can't take offence at good advice. And you cleaned out the closet - now that is not an excuse for going out and buying new stuff. You hear.
Better go and see what the idiots have lined up for me this morning. Last week, I went over to another building to talk to one of the developers about how the users will use the system. A couple of things rung a few bells. So I went back to my office, called up a few people, asked a few questions and lo and behold, I am informed that there is documentation sitting on the Intranet for almost exactly the same stuff as I am being told has to be done yesterday. Ummmm. So I have printed it out, started to read it and am currently trying to see where I will need to make changes to the existing. What is wrong with these people? Do they like re-inventing the wheel?
On a lighter side, the work I did for Mick was well received by the company we wrote it for. One problem was that I had the wrong code for creating the work order or so it seemed, however when they went back to the original documents I had to work with, they found it was them that made the error. Yehhaaa not my mistake.
So anyway, they are talking about a complete documentation makeover in the new year and hopefully, they will offer Mick and I the work.
And my friend R from Melbourne has said that she will be up here for the weekend of Dec 10 and would like to stay. I'd better put some thought into sorting out some THINGS to do. Unlike Chris, she will not be happy to sit and read or chat - although I have the feeling my wine cellar will get a bit of a beating.
With that, I had better go and do something for the cause.
