  • Kel, I bet that mini peppermint patty didn't add up to much! You might have burned that off with carrying all of those boxes around

I may try the OMM (one minute muffin). Has anyone tried this? If so, what is your favorite variation?
  • Late getting in but I just started

Speaking of that what should the next one be -- New Years, Christmas? And for what amount to lose for it-
    10 pounds by Thanksgiving
    20 pounds by Christmas
    30 pounds by New years
??? Idk, just throwing some numbers out there LOL!
  • Quote: 20 pounds by Christmas???
This one may be more attainable...attainable = motivating...imo.
  • How about 15 by New Years - that would be almost 2 lbs a week (something like 1.8) I average 1.5 a week loss so if it was the 2.5ish a week needed to make 20 by Xmas I doubt I would make it at all. (and would probably get discouraged) Like sask says you do want it to be attainable but something to work for. Oh I'm figuring my numbers based on starting after Halloween btw. And if anyone goes over the 15 that is super!

If I do the 15 by then -- I will be over 50lbs down (ok not much over but over) I was just figuring that out this morning based on what I average for a loss - and I thought it would be just about that long. I was planning this out because I just decided that my non-food reward for losing that amount would be a new iPhone. I only have the olllld flip non-smart phone so it will be a real treat to me.
  • I think 15 by new years sounds great! Too high a goal, and we'll all fall to the side with the Holidays upon us soon. NOW, we all mean to be perfect at those dinners and parties, but sometimes the reality bites. I want to be as good as I can, and try to balance my slip ups by being extra good the rest of the time.

Welcome, Makemymom, join in wherever, and prorate it to yourself on the goal. I don't think any among us will be bothered by that.

I've had a good yesterday. Took the day off, slept in, up to grocery shop with BFF, ate on plan all day even at steak n shake. She bought a caramel apple thingy with candy on it and offered me half. I declined and said "candied apples make my knees hurt." She got it. One of the reasons for me to lose weight is my knees hurt. I plan to use that line as much as possible. It reinforced my reason as I declined. Felt powerful.

I've made a 9 lb loss so far. Not as good as some, but I'm better than I used to be for it. I'm never 100% compliant. I lost that powerful beginners inertia way back, I just keep on keepin' on and it works slowly fo rme.
  • 15 pounds by New Years sounds great!!!
  • I had a bad week with carbs, but going back strong tomorrow and the 15 pounds by new years sounds good! I have to prepare for my sons birthday this week and see the weight dr Thursday.
  • Happy Bday to your son Amb! Birthdays can be hard with all of that cake and ice cream around! Maybe you can make yourself a LC dessert to have on hand so you won't be tempted. What does your weight doctor do? Did he/she encourage you to try Atkins?
  • I have been to my weight dr before, they put me on a low carb diet and exercise regimen and I take medication. My son's cake will be sugar free and the frosting, I am going to make a small veggie tray with low carb dip and veggies, some baked chips for the other guests and no sugar added ice cream. I do very well during their parties, its everyday eating I need to work on.
  • da dat dum dum dum, another one bites the dust.... lost another pound. whew. now, just gotta keep it rolling.
  • 1.8 this week - I might just make it by Halloween - usually after a good loss week like this I have a smaller one -
  • good morning all, I am back on track and doing good. I can not wait for the November challenge, I now I will meet my goal of 15 pounds by the end of the month. Have a great weekend all.
  • I haven't met my goal for Halloween, but I'm ready for the next one! My weight loss is slow, but that's ok, at least I'm losing!
