  • Good morning Girls ...I had a good weekend...yesterday I went over calories at a pizza buffett, but oh well, today is another day...and I had a great time with my parents, brother and his kids, and dh ...so it was worth it all ...beautiful day too...

Mandy - I have heard of that plan but don't know much about it ...good luck with it.

Dee - I know this has been a few days since you were talking about the guy here that is in the contest with me at work ...what he is doing is not right and I have sworn I will never be in another contest here of his because of that...I have worked hard for six weeks to win this and he is going to take it away from me in the very last week...I don't see how he can do it with a clean conscience but oh well...I have resolved myself to not winning and will move on, I am losing this weight for me and my health, not that contest ....I will have to try those skinny girl margheritas, that is my FAVORITE drink

Susie - I am too late for the tough love , Dee gave ya enough haha ...but I do know you can do this....I had a rough time of like 6 months where I just couldnt get it started and now that I have and have lost a small chunk I am just SO in the groove and motivated...you can get there too

    GHlover - congrats !!! I can't wait to see a 1 on my scale

I had like little to no sleep last night...I am so tired today at work ...probably gonna be an early one for me tonight ....hope you all have a great Monday.

    See ya

  • Hello!

I had a good weekend and stayed OP and within my calorie range with the exception of Saturday and it was because I had a rootbeer but I was only over by that and I was under on Friday and yesterday so it will all even out.

We went to a local Rootbeer Stand that is only open from March until Sept and they make their own rootbeer..it's very good. My DH and I aren't wine drinkers so we are Rootbeer drinkers! We look for different kinds to try all the time. Just something we have done since we got married--that and always finding a Walmart on vacation where ever we are to take a picture. We put together a slide show of our vacations once and just for fun that was all the pictures we showed (at first), then we showed the rest of the vacation pictures.

I am getting a pedicure after work tonight. I usually do my own in the winter but always get a professional one for the first one of Spring and usually do it around Easter.

Dee: When I do drink margarita's rasberry is my favorite, so I put your recipie in my recipie box. It sounded like you had a lovely time planned with your friends.

I have friends who have done the lap band and the baratic surgery. One of my friends looks great and healthy, the other 3 have so much lose skin and one of my friends died.

I think it's a individual choice and just not one for me.

Carri: Congrats on that lose! Can't wait for you to hit the 20 lb mark...hopefully this week?!
You are right that I just need to get in a pattern where I am seeing a loss for about 3-4 weeks and then I will be in the groove..so right now I'm just "faking it until I make it" and each day, I tell myself that I am in the groove..i'm walking and staying in my range so for now, that is my groove!

Mandy: I will check out your blog and good luck!

    Ghlover: Congrats on your accomplishment!
  • the blog where i'm keeping better track of everything is the one linked in my sig... i would suggest reading that one.

except for a handful of people being supportive, i am starting to think that maybe 3FC and me need to part ways. i don't like the thought of there being 2 choices "eat everything, exercise never, and get fat" or "eat nothing, exercise always, and lose weight"... so many people on here seem to push the "your body doesn't need calories calories are why you are fat!" idea... and i feel that eating well, healthily and at a level my body needs, and exercising to create the deficit is the most healthy way to lose weight. i'm tired of being told i'm wrong, or have it implied that i'm stupid.
  • Hi There Yup, spring is here & all is well. I can barely wait to get my garden planted the 1st week of May.

ghlover We're happy for your 100's success!

Cassie I hope you got great news about your apartment today. Good Luck @ school w your classes & spring-fever being here.

Has anyone seen 'The Hunger Games" yet?

    G'Night All, Dee,
  • Morning Girls ...all is going well here Supposed to get some bad weather again tonight, hopefully not anymore hail ...my brother lives in an apt and his car is outside and the other night we had some good size hail, well he has a lot of damage to his car...I worry about that too when I am here at work.

Dee - yes he is a butthole for doing what he is going to do any other time he is a really good guy, I just think he has a very competitive nature and can't stand to lose. I agree with you on the Karma thing, so what comes around goes around...Yes, I can't wait to start getting new clothes ...I am so bound and determined to get this weight off for good this time !!!!!

Mandy - I will also miss you if you go but I would understand...they say any plan works if you work it and I believe it, you just have to find the one that works for you, no judgement...I, like you, don't believe in starving myself to lose weight, I eat a lot on my plan, just good things instead of bad things...do what's best for you and don't worry about what others think...none of us think you are stupid. Good Luck

Susie - I LOVE Rootbeer too....I love the root beer floats they have at our State Fair every year...cant wait to have one again in August. How did your pedicure go? I always get one near spring too ...the polish, if done well, lasts so long on your feet...well worth the money, and great to have some pampering

Hi to everyone else !! Have a great day.

    Carri
  • Hello Everyone,

Beautiful day out today. I hear we might get some storms later; just hope they come after my workout partner and I do our walk tonight.

I was 56 calories under my range yesterday. I don't want to be to far under my range but it is nice to bank those calories for the times I might go over. I know they do that (or used to) with points on WW. The important thing right now is that I am AWARE of what is going into my body..not sticking my head in the sand anymore!

Dee: I know you weren't suggesting that I needed to get surgery. I was just stating that sometimes for some people its a good choice and sometimes it is not.

I haven't seen The Hunger Games. For me it will probably be a rental but I am starting to get curious about the books. Have you read them?

    How's it going with WW?

Mandy: I echo what Dee and Carri have said. We would miss you nut you are always welcome here and we will always support you. Now, may I say...please don't go!!

Carri: I hope we don't get hail! Thanks for asking about my pedicure. It went well and I went a little wild! My toes are a lime green and they did flowers on my big toes. Everyone keeps telling me how cute they look (because of course I wore sandles today! ) You are right that the polish lasts long with the "professional" pedicures.

Keep up the good work with your weight-loss...you are inspiring me!
  • thank you guys for your kind words you all have never made me feel like i was crazy for starting to think about the math and science of calories and metabolism. i'm just starting to get twitchy whenever i see somebody post that they had "omg i went over and ate 1600 calories today, so glad i burned 800 at the gym!" and i think "do you realize that a net 2000 calorie diet is what's healthy for the lightly active adult?" it's not natural for your body to survive on 800 calories. and that's why so many people plateau.

and the advice of "lower your calories a little more" just makes me want to cringe! i've been eating 2500+ for 3 days now, and i have not gained anything! nothing! and i'm PMSing! (i picked a really good time to start a higher calorie plan didn't i? lol)

i didn't get to 300 pounds by eating 2600 healthy calories a day and exercising 3x-5x per week... i got there by eating 3000+ of junk and not exercising at all. and it wasn't a rapid gain either. it was slow and steady after the freshman 15 (which in my case was the freshman 25). i was around 225 when i graduated high school. eating junk every day. i gained 25 my first year out of high school cause i ate the same, and didn't have all my extra curriculars anymore. then it took me at least 5 years, probably more, to pack on the extra 50 to get me to 300. that's 10 pounds a year or less. that's less than a pound a month eating a ton of junk and not exercising!

eating healthier, and exercising, should easily cause me to lose weight once my metabolism recovers from all the jerking around. starve myself to lose weight, give up and binge an gain faster, then starve myself to lose again, repeat ad nauseum. i have more energy, i'm in a better mood, and i'm sleeping better now! plus i'm never hungry anymore. how is this a bad thing?! sigh.
  • Hi Everyone,

I had a great time walking with my friend last night. We walked the local college campus and there was a lot ot "see". lol

I walk on Tuesday's with this friend of mine, the other days we do our workout seperately due to schedules. She's also my 5k walk buddy.

So, we were planning our workouts a bit and we decided that on a 4 week rotation the first week we will walk outside from a starting point to and ending point..if it takes us 45 min, that is what it takes, if it takes 30 that is what it takes. the 2nd week will be 45 min on the treadmill following the "hill" program. the 3rd week, is a 45 min walk focusing on speed, the 4th week is to do an actual 5k route. We know the one that is mapped out every year for the Turkey Trot in November in our town and there we will be working on lowering or time and assess how our training is going.

We are looking for a 5k walk/race to do in June or July.

Carri: Let me know when you watch BL--it was Makeover week!

Mandy: What you are doing is absolutely correct for you and really I think for many others! Your story and mine are very similar.
    Stay steady the course!

I am using my Lose It app to track my calories for day and I have a goal weight set in it, and it tells me how many calories I can have a day (and when I exericse I get some of those back if I'm close or over) to loose an average of 2 lbs a week.

Yesterday I was under by 399. At first I was under by 56 but then added the workout and so that gave me back 343 calories.

    Have a great day everyone!
  • you know what's delicious? vanilla greek yogurt with cinnamon, shredded apple, and a bit of granola.
  • Good morning all ....yesterday was a hard one, I was having one of those days where no matter what I ate I was still hungry all day ...don't know if my body was adjusting or what ...it was tough to get thru but I stayed the course

Susie - yes I did watch it last night and I gotta say they looked GREAT ...I loved Conda's hair especially, and Chris OMG< she looked SO much younger without that grey hair ....great episode ...I also use the Lose It app faithfully and I know that is what has helped me lose my steady two pounds each week...so keep with it, it will work !!!

Mandy - that does sound good ...I used to eat a lot of the Chobani brand greek yogurt, they have a ton of great flavors

Hi Dee, Liz, Mel, and Auntie G !!!!!

Tomorrow is the last weigh in of the work contest and to announce the winner, don't plan on winning since the only guy in the contest is probably gonna beat me, but oh well, I gotta remember I am doing this for me and not any contest.

    have a great day all

  • attempting eggplant parmesan for dinner tonight. first time with a meatless meal. wish me luck
  • Hi, gals! I used to post on the forums here once upon a time when I had lost 60 pounds and reached ONEderland. Unfortunately, I got off track and gained all of that back. Yuck. So, here I am again...determined to get this weight off and keep it off.

Is there room for one more?
  • hello foucault congrats for getting back on the horse!

well ladies, the eggplant parmesan was mostly a success... i just left it in the oven a smidge too long and the cheese got a little brown. but hubby and i like crispy cheese, so it worked out well

    today's cals eaten: 2696
    todays exercise: 840
    NET calories: 1856

i'm not supposed to NET below 2000... and after my recovery smoothie and some string cheese i'm stuffed! ah well.
  • Happy to report a loss at the scales last night at TOPS: a 2.25 lb loss!

Recording those calories and staying in my range and doing consistant daily exercise seems to be the key for me.

How's everyone doing? We are off work today for Good Friday. I also took yesterday off work as a personal day and so did DH. We changed our closets over to Spring/Summer clothes (and now it is FREEZING here!). It feels good to have that done though and it lets me know what I need to buy for the season.

Today we are doing some housework and then some friends of ours are in from Missiouri and we are going to Terry's Turf Club tonight. This place was featured once on Diners, Driveins and Dives. Our friends have never been there and they want to check it out. It will be a fun time and I have planned for the calories that I will eat there.

Carri: I would love to hear that you won that work contest but like you said, if you don't, this is not really about a contest. It's about you being healthy and happy with you.

Mandy: I'm a vegetarian and I love eggplant fixed so many ways. Good for you for trying something new!

Foucalt: Welcome back and yes there is room for you! Looking forward to getting to know you through your posts.

Have a great day everyone; I must get busy with some housework.
  • Morning everyone, well I have good news and bad news...first bad news: I didn't win the work challenge, the guy lost 6.6% and I lost 6.0% ...but the good news is that there was a 2nd part to the challenge, if anyone could lose more actual pounds then him then he would pay them $5 per pound ...so I did end up making 60.00 since I lost 14 pds during the 7 week challenge and he only lost 12 ...so hey I will take it !!!!

Susie - GREAT JOB on the loss ...I am telling you that Lose It app works...that is how I am steadily losing 2 pds a week ...keep up the good work !! We are having really cool weather here too ...I kind of like it...I thought it was getting too warm too quick, haha ...

Mandy - the eggplant parm sounds good, I am going to incorporate a layer of eggplant in my lasagna next time I make it....saw that on Dr Oz ...

Everyone have a great day !!

I will pop on over weekend and post my weigh in results

    Have a Happy Easter !!!
