I want to share a little victory that was made possible by IE that I could not have accomplished before. For the last 35 years, I have always had a Saturday night sweet treat. Well, last night I realized that I was not hungry and chose to skip the chocolate cake. It is a true IE miracle! Thanks very much.

YAY CatWuv! That's how it's done!!

So... I'm tired of carrying baby weight around and not being able to fit into my clothes. I've been taking some supplements/vitamins which include metabolism enhancers and natural appetite suppressants (like oolong tea extract). They're supposed to be totally healthy and basically give me more energy. Anyway, using IE (instead of food for comfort or out of habit), it seems to be working, because I'm rarely hungry...

I hope that's not cheating on IE, LOL! I'm just ready to fit into the clothes in my closet.

Hope y'all are doing well. Still here and reading all the posts everyday.

Okay....it's been about 4 months but I am back. I was struggling so I just stopped posting. I hope to next time work my way through my tough spot with the support of my 3FC sisters/brothers.

I will have to remember that one...because if I have to ask it then I know I'm not truly hungry.

The whole idea on the Intuitive Eater concept is basically to stop thinking about food/diets all the time and letting in consume you. By just eating what your body needs, you will reach your healthy weight and be much happier.

Now, I LOVE 3FC, BUT, keeping on this web site seems to defeat the purpose of intutive eating. By coming back to 3FC constantly I am thinking about food and my guilt towards food constantly...what are your guys thoughts on this?
This is part of the reason I stepped away from the website. I just felt I was constantly focused on food and losing weight. I feel in a better place now and I know it will not be my entire focus. I love this site for all of the support and I missed my blog which has always been helpful. I'm so happy to be back.

I no longer have a scale at home. My scale is at work. We are doing a Biggest Loser contest and weighing in once a week. What's interesting is although the scale is closest to my desk I have no interest in weighing until our designated day which is Wednesdays. We weighed in for the first time last week.

What a great example of IE!

So, ladies when I was updating my blog and making sure all of the links worked I found this link on the IE website:
http://throughthickandthin.myfreeforum.org/

I'm off to take a look at this forum. I will be checking back in this thread often.

I took a peek at the link. Looks interesting but I can hardly keep up here at 3FC and I have been on a lot of boards and keep coming back here. It is so user friendly. I don't usually weigh too often. When I was in a challenge on another board I lost at first and then gained it back. I just feel better when I find my clothes getting looser and staying that way.

Julie--You are welcome!

Carol--I prefer to judge by my clothes too but a few of the girls at work needed some support and we're all competitive so we thought it would be fun. I too will be spending most of my time here on 3FC but I like to lurk on other boards. Not necessarily post but just lurk.

I'm back to counting binge free days and now I have one day behind me. On to day #2.

Couldn't finish my pizza today or my coke. Strange. Too full for chocolate, my favorite. Can't handle that too full feeling anymore. And that's a good thing. Now I just need a little more movement in my life.

Getting back into IE hasn't been too difficult. I like that I don't have to go to the store to buy special foods. I agree with you Carol I definitely can not tolerate that too full feeling anymore. I have now had 2 binge free days in a row.

Hello Everyone,

Well, here I am again trying to get that "diet thinking" out of my head. Tried something else or again and it didn't work. I'm still where I was when I started.

Carol -Strange last night lying in bed, I realized that I hate feeling full. It reminds me too much of all those years when I overate. So back to trying to get my "mind" to thinking right and just eating when hungry and not when I'm not.

Shay -Hi and thanks for the link. I've marked it in favorites to check out. Probably will do some lurking there. Maybe it will help.

Julie - Hi look forward to getting to know you.

Mom2mollie - I recently learned of the oolong tea. It along with green tea is supposed to be a appetite suppressent. I just recently added it to my green tea and do believe it is helping.

Today is day one back on IE. Y'all have a good day.

Hi Pattygirl and everyone! It's been a while. I've been in hiding, shamefully.

I sure can relate to what you just said, Pattygirl! It seems like since Thanksgiving the diet mindset momentum has just been building and building for me. Even though I had no intention of starting a diet for the new year, the old way of thinking around the holidays (eat it till it's gone cause you're not gonna get any after January 1) was there and quite strong. I still feel like I need to be on a diet. My weight went up a bit over the holidays thanks to this stupid diet thinking! So now, of course, I feel even lousier than I did before. I feel like I've been on yet another diet that failed, when in truth I haven't even been dieting at all! It's just the mental baggage of dieting that is apparently still here with me. But where does one go from here? I'd rather not keep watching my belly expand but I don't know how to get it under control! UGH!

Maybe try keeping a written journal of what you eat and how hungry you are before and after. I find the eating only when you're hungry and stopping when you're full much harder than it sounds, and without writing it down, I just don't try as hard, or I fool myself into thinking I'm doing better than I am. You could even just record that you eat (not what) and your hunger levels, if it's easier to leave the food out or you think that would feel too much like dieting. I think the food information could be useful, but the most important thing is to be paying attention to hunger and satiety.

Blue Serenity I went to the website that Shay mentioned above and I am reading the Steps they have on there which is pretty much a refresher of the IE book without re-reading the book. I notice there are lots more viewers than posters, but that is fine because I learn from the posters. I am starting over with IE and I am reading one Step a day. I think when they started the forum in November they must have taken them once a week. One thing I read yesterday is start where I am. Right now I'm dealing with the 2 bare basics of I am going to eat when I am hungry and stop when I'm satisfied. That is where I am right now.

In my reading I realized that there are a lot of things we do just because we learned to do them when dieting. So a lot of what we feel right now and even some of the things we do is because we think we are supposed to do them and we don't even relate them to dieting because they have become such a habit with us.

At least check out the website. I think it plus this website is going to help me a lot. I probably will read the book again, but along with the forum site.

Hope everyone has a great day.
