Just having my
, finished the sports pages. Angie and I were going out for breakfast but she decided since we went out Thursday night for my "free" birthday dinner and we had take-out mexican food last night, maybe we should "back off" from the extra calories (she means ME!
) Work is picking up for me, had 3 pretty good days last week and next week should be decent. Here in construction you just never know, it is usually pretty good, but we do hit "slows" in the economy like everyone else. Luckily, the slow periods don't hurt me as bad as some of my friends, I can miss a few days from time to time without much financial strain, some of them can't. Of course any time off for too long can "spank" me pretty good too
We have 2 big projects coming up soon, delays from rain has hurt the schedule a little. Normal stuff. My son and his wife have been getting advice from us on a situation that has come up in their lives. Tough times are starting for some people with the economy and my dil's mom and dad have been hit by the drop in home loans. They are on the verge of losing their home...sad for them...but they want to know if the kids want to take it over. It is a nice track home but needs some work, mostly cosmetic stuff. It is in a nice area close to the beach so you get that "ocean smell and breeze". The BIG problem is that it is over a half million dollars (like all track homes in our area)
It has actually dropped in "value" like most homes around here too in the last year, but there is still some equity in it. I think it is a good idea...but...it's hard to "sell" your kids on house payments of $2,500 a month!
They really want to do it...I just want them to really "think" it through. That is a big chunk of their money each month
to southern California
I just wonder...if they will be able to afford the "grandkids"
that I have planned!
Angie has bell practice this morning then we will go to church tonight since she plays during service. She is out walking the dogs, an easy half hour for her training, yesterday was a 2 miler with them. She is running a 5K tomorrow, I will probably go watch...no training here for me...boy is she
ROSEBUD ~ Thank you for the work prayers. You need to get yourself a digital camera, then you can save them in the computer, print them off the disk and even post them for us. I had fish and chips for my free dinner at the IRISH PUB
Keep up the walking
AUNT SUE ~ I am really trying to send the
it is just so hard with the increase in postage rates coming
As I posted to Rosebud, I had fish and chips. Angie usually makes corned beef and cabbage for
for St. Patrick's Day...the only time we have it during the year. Have a GREAT time with Kristie this week-end...SHOP til you DROP! if that's what you gals do
P.S. I won't
mention it..but it is supposed to be 70 to 80 degrees here this week-end...sorry...but hey! come for a visit! KELLIA ~
HAEYU14~ Do you have a name you would like to share with us? Or did I miss it? AH ~ those 5th graders! I remember when Angie used to teach them years ago...she had to "move up?" to 6th graders...after she went to 8th graders (she hated that!...brats!) she says, for her, 6th is best. Enjoy your time with your sister and if you blow it on your points...just shake it off and jump back on! One day is not a big deal! in the big picture.
WILMA ~ Sorry to hear your nose is red
Years ago, 1968, the barbershop my dad went to (I NEVER! CUT MY HAIR back then
) hired a women to cut hair, now my dad usually had his hair "normal" lentgh in the winter, then did the flat top thing for the summer, well he started to get his haircut OFTEN because of the massage this gal did on his head! I remember he would pay my sister $$$ just to comb his hair over and over while he sat in his recliner. She did it for years until he passed away... he just loved it. I had a great birthday. Can't wait to see pics of the new "do" curly
Well, I guess I didn't share my birthday gifts with you...must have left that over in General Chatter somewhere...if you ever venture over there you may see a different side of me..maybe not so good!
But you know me, I just like to have fun. But boy it sure shows how much I need church!!Last Sunday the kids came over for dinner, Angie made one of my favorite easy dinners. Grilled chicken breasts on good buns with lettuce, tomato, red onion, cheddar cheese, guacamole and honey mustard dressing...I just love those sandwiches. Then as I mentioned we went to the pub for the ~ free week of your birthday Thursday ~ dinner. I had fish and chips and Angie got a guacamole burger. Ryan and Nicole gave me a book on USC Football, Amanda and Zac gave me some of my favorite rootbeer and an assortment of popcorn and Angie bought me an mp3 player and a box set of George Strait CD's...I had an awesome birthday. All my 3FC friends here in Christian Encouragers and General Chatter really made it special!
Have a great week-end! WORSHIP ~ where you can!
