Hey! I'm giving Smashing another shot. I kinda fell off the wagon for awhile, but Monday, I'm starting again. I did really good last time and got a little cocky and gained back about 7 of the 11 I lost. Not a good move I know but I'm ready to just get back in the saddle and not let my successes go to my head! Eventually, they end up back on my butt! This is a great forum for support and you guys are all so motivating, I know I'll be able to see it thru this time. I also decided to go for mini goals instead of the whole 50 lbs and it may seem easier. Gotta get to the farmers mkt to stock up now, so I'll definately be seeing you guys again soon!
Helene

Hi everyone. I'm a newbie here but would like to join the support group. I'm on day 3 of detox and doing well. Not hungry and nothing is tempting me.

Just returned from 7 days in CA to visit my family (2 brothers & now my Mom lives out there, in Gilroy & San Jose). I always let myself go (with eating) on special occasions or vacations and am happy I only gained around 3 lbs. At 53 life is becoming too special to have to "diet" 365 days a year! Being short & pear shaped I have to watch what I eat at all times or I'll just start putting it back on.

That has been my downfall. Once I get that "click" I can follow a diet plan to goal without many, if any cheats. It's maintaining that's tough for me.

Even though I was on a somewhat similar plan before, I realize I need to start planning & cooking large batches of items I like. I'm going to make a batch of vegetarian chili for dinner. I need to check out some other soup recipes because although I love beans I usually try to limit them to one meal a day. Gotta go find my Beano since I'd love to have brown rice & beans for lunch.

Congrats to all the "losers" and I'm really wondering how this will work for me since I don't have that much to lose (10-15 lbs.). I'm going to be good and not weight in until I'm finished with detox.

Thumbs up What can you do with 4 oz of hamburger? I got an idea!

So I was trying to figure out what to do with that little bit of hamburger that we are okay'd to eat on phase II. I found a recipe for dirty rice and thought "MMMMMMM"! So I left out the chicken livers and gizzards -- took the 4 oz of hamburger and browned it with chopped onion, green pepper, garlic and mushrooms. Mixed it with my 2 cups of brown rice and YUMMY! I felt like I was eating a real meal!!

Take care,
Bonnie Jean

Default Day 6

Day 6 of Phase I. The hardest part so far was the headaches the first two days from caffeine withdrawal. I drank a gallon or more of coffee per day and quit cold turkey!

The things that have helped me:

I use natural salsa as a dressing on salad.
Once per day I will eat a LiteLife meal (meatless - ingredients say it has Wheat so may not be legitimate for phase I but at under 300 calories for a major meal, not bad).
Roasted Soy Nuts (unsalted) make a decent snack
Oatmeal with 1/2 mashed banana (no milk)

I will weigh myself Wednesday morning.

Bonnie Jean- Sounds yummy, I will keep it in my for when I hit phase 2!

Sherry- How old is Joshua? I have an 11 month old daughter. She is just amazing, she just master climbing onto the couch by herself so it seems to be a new game. Climb on the couch, slide off the couch, climb on, climb off..ugh! She loves the frozen bananna yogurt too!!! She yells numm numm mama numm numm.

I have managed to do awesome in the exercise department. I have walked 2 times a day and done crunches or a similar exercise before bed. I love the fall weather in New England so getting outside is easy!

Howdy ladies,
I've been gone for a few days and have just caught up on the posts. It seems everyone is doing so well.
Even those who "fall off the wagon" do it so gracefully that we just pick up ourselves up, dust off our bums, and jump right back on. That's the way to go.
I, too, fell off yesterday. Just couldn't resist those homemade butter cookies. Oh well. At least there are no leftovers in my house.
I have a good smelling vegetable soup on the stove. I'm going back on Phase I for a few days.
I have had a fibromyalgia flare the last few days and am in a lot of pain. I'm afraid my painkillers are making me hold water and not lose any weight. I feel really bloated. Hopefully the weather will stabilize and I can get back to normal.
Does anyone know if carob is "legal" or if we can use cocoa powder (unsweetened).

Keep up the good work. And keep posting. It really helps.

Ugghhh, I did it! We had company today and I made chicken parmesan with noodles and garlic bread and I did not cheat. I will admit I wanted to!!!! It smelled so yummy, but I stayed strong..lol. My mini goal was to make it through these first 9 days with not oppsies.

Hope you all had a good day!

Hey Everyone!

I have been limiting my computer time lately because my son throws a fit when I sit down at the computer. So, I guess that is his way of telling me that he needs more attention.

I see that we have some new ladies... This a GREAT group. Lots of support here.

tinamarie~ Joshua is 16 months old. He loves frozen yogurt. He loves reg. yogurt, too. Kudos to you for not eating any of that yummy sounding meal. You go girl!

Linda~ Glad you are feeling better! I missed you. Yes, that is my son. He has really curly hair. The funny thing is that neither dh or I do. It is starting to get pretty long. He didn't have any hair until he was about 9 months old. Then, it started growing in curly. I hate to have to get it cut.. because I don't know if the curls will grow back or not. lol.

Dee~ I don't know if that is allowed or not. Sorry you are feeling bad.

Bonnie Jean~ That dirty rice sounds good. Way to go on the loss!

I am having trouble drinking enough water. I forget it. Then when I do drink it... I end up going to the potty all day long. It reminds me of when I was pregnant. lol.

My goal tomorrow is to drink 60 oz of water. I will report back.

Have a great night!

brandi~ You posted while I was writing mine. lol. I am a habitual weigher, too. I find that it helps me. I don't get all freaked out if I weigh more at night or during the day. I only pay attention to the first morning weight. But, I do like to see how it fluctuates during the day. I guess I will never change, either...
