Are there people that get pregnant and continue on their weight loss journey???
I'm not sure if you mean continue WHILE pregnant, but of course people continue after pregnancies. This forum is full of them! One of my best friends lost 10 pounds during her pregnancy (not trying, just started eating more nutritious food and all was doctor supervised and supported) and 30 more within a few weeks of the birth. I had a little pity party over that - she used to be my TTC and weight loss buddy, and now I have serious infertility problems and she has a baby AND almost effortlessly lost a lot of weight!
I know a lot of people who have children choose to lose weight, among other reasons, to be more present and available for their children when playing, etc. I plan to continue after a pregnancy.
Hmm, healthy eating plan? Get back to me after Jan 1.
I have maintained, which is what I'm happy to do through the holidays. My new gym opens the first week of January, though, and I am excited about that!
January 1 is my big day!!! I've had many of these "big days", but it's time. I'm heavier than I have ever been. I am trying to get pregnant and my biggest fear is that I am going to be HUGE if I keep giong the way I am and gain an extra 50 while pregnant. So my plan is to get on track so in the event I do get pregnant I can keep on a straight path!!!
I would also liketo join you ladies. Dh and I are hoping to ttc this summer, so my goal is to be to my goal weight by then. I just weaned my son (Or rather, he weaned himself ) so I have been losing really well the last 2 weeks. I hope it continues!
Happy New Year!! Hope everyone's holidays were good. I, too, concentrated on maintaining over the holidays and did not worry too much about losing. And I didn't gain so YAY! The exercise kinda fell by the wayside though so back to that starting tomorrow (along with the rest of the world, I'm sure! haha). Anyhow just wanted to say a quick hello!
A quick hello to everyone! Started back at the gym today. Tomorrow I have to go back to work, 5am is going to be tough to go workout, but I know I can do it!
Hey all, it's pretty quiet around here. I'm glad the holidays are over and we can get back to normal without travel, houseguests, baking and shopping. We sat down tonight and planned every meal and snack for next week, and made a grocery list for tomorrow. The produce section of the list is huge and I am looking so forward to being on track again!
We just had a miscarriage in the middle of December. It would have been our second child. Our son is 2 1/2. It was very difficult, but I survived better than I hoped. God has been amazing in making everything go as easy and perfect as possible in such a situation. It has really been a wake-up call on mine and my husband's lifestyles. I was low-carbing for 3 months before getting pregnant this time and 1 year before getting pregnant last time. Our midwives actually called it the fertility diet, it helps with infertility due to insulin resistance. Now I am low carb dieting and exercising, which for me is always a hard component to add. I have eliminated all my caffiene and added lots of water in my diet and continue to take my prenatal vitamins. This all seems to have helped eliminate my migranes. All around I feel healthier. When I got pregnant (Nov) I weighed 270 and I have lost since then.
Best of Luck to Everyone TTC. My hubby and I were married 9 years before getting pregnant our first time. Patience is a virtue.
Hi everyone,
I'm glad I found this group. I weigh 289 and my dh and I are planning to conceive in the next few months. My doctor is very supportive. Though I am dieting and losing pre-conception, once I get pregnant, eating will be healthy to grow a healthy baby, not to lose weight.
Yes things have definitely been quiet...guess everyone's getting back into the swing of things now that the holidays are over.
dollypie - Way to go on the 5 am workout! There's no way I could keep that up, but I am SO not a morning person! I'd rather be at the gym at like 10 pm than 5 am.
peacfeul - I really think planning is key. I try to get my DH to help me plan for the week but he is not very into it! Oh well I can plan anyways!
Martha - I'm sorry for your loss. I'm glad you're feeling healthier with low carbing, that's great! It's so nice to find what works for each of us.
lessofme821 - Same here, once I get pregnant, I will not be trying to lose weight. My GP is very supportive too which is nice, but my fertility specialist is not quite as good! He is very focused on my weight, which is sort of why I took time off the fertility meds to lose weight, but I'm going to be starting back on them next cycle.
Anyhow ladies sorry I've been MIA and I will be even more so now, I'm going away for work for a week and I'm not sure if I will be able to check in. Anyways talk to you when I get back!
I'd like to join this thread as well. I'm 31, was just diagnosed with possibly having PCOS and my OB told me that I either need to go on birth control again or lose 40 pounds before TTC. It wasn't until this past year that the fertility clock really kicked in for me, and I hope i can get pregs without complications. I really had no idea that weight gain could hinder that - so it's a reality check.
mtnheart - I'm so sorry to hear about your loss but I think that you have a fantastic and inspiring attitude! I'd like to try that fertility diet too - I've read a lot of articles that said reducing sugars and caffeine can help with pcos.
dollypie - when you exercise at 5 - do you eat beforehand or after? What do you eat to fuel you but not make you stuffed?
MoonChicky,
I usually am out of bed and at the gym w/n 15 minutes. I cannot eat before I work out because it makes me sick and gives me stomach cramps. When I get home I do have breakfast though. On the weekends if I exercise during the day though I usually have a snack about an hour before.
