That is an excellent thing to do, Astrophe! Just walk away and say "have it tomorrow". I think I'll have to start doing that As for the 500 calories, at least it's not every day, and just for the week. I think you did very well I had a blueberry muffin from Dunks the other day, but I flipped when I realized it was 500 calories. Seriously? 500? That kills me.

Thanks!

I know... I had to accept baking and most baked items are trigger foods for me. So delish! So caloric! So roller coaster blood sugar! You can add white bread and raisin bread in there too.

Some things I'll never be able to "manage" so best just to give it up.

What do you guys have as trigger foods? Think the PCOS/IR connection is to blame?

A.

I ran/walked 6.8 miles outside in a hilly park today. The only way I made was saying "Your 3 pound loss is right up there around that corner go get it!" Took 2 hours.

TOM has come on time yet again...which is amazing for me without birth control regulation. Astonishing really.

Way to go, chouchoubou! 6.8 miles is awesome.

I think a trigger food for me would probably be.. brownies. Maybe roast beef sandwiches, too. ****, food in general. I guess baked goods would have to be the main thing, though. :P I honestly can't say if the IR is to blame or not.

Hi everyone! Sorry I've been MIA this past week...but wow, what awesome exercise achievements from all!

I only had a .8lb loss this week, but I'm not too down about it since the previous week's loss was almost 4lbs. Hubby actually worked 4 days last week (good news) but that means that I have extra responsibilities at home and wound up constantly going from 6:30am to 9pm before I stopped to eat dinner & sit down. Today's like that, with exercise, shower, work, 2 hours of commuting, therapy session, getting stepson from babysitter, homework with stepson, feeding the animals, giving the animals medicine, getting my lunch ready tomorrow, and finally feeding myself. I didn't even eat dinner until 10 I know that's not good for the blood sugar, but I also know that I only have to push through 3 more weeks of this.

So I think stress, lack of sleep, and a few more carb grams than usual probably played a big role in the small weight loss. I did lose 3 inches in the past two weeks, so yay for that! And the 10th will mark 2 months since I started all of this, and I will have lost almost 20lbs in 2 months. Definitely something to be happy about

Oh, my, sleep issues. I've had sleep issues since I was a teenager. Needing 10-12 hours of sleep a day to function, struggling to fall asleep, waking up at all odd hours of the night, needing to get up to go to the bathroom 20 gazillion times....I've done it all. I don't think I've slept well in years. It helps to know that is likely related to the PCOS (though I suspect the insulin resistance as well, since a symptom of that is fatigue).

But I will say this...since I started exercising & I cut down my carbs a bit, it has really made a difference in my ability to sleep. I sleep pretty well now as long as I stick to a basic sleep/wake schedule, even on the weekends, and avoid naps if at all possible. Since I used to be the nap QUEEN, this is a big deal for me. Heck, even after 2 months of watching my carbs, I don't have to get up every 2 hours to go to the bathroom anymore (IR related, I suppose?).

Trigger foods? Spaghetti and lots of it. Cupcakes. Oreos. Cotton Candy. I can be strong around most sweets, but there's just something about cupcakes in particular that make them irresistible...especially the gourmet ones at my favorite cupcake shop near work.

chouchoubou .. 6.8 miles is just fantastic.

Also, can someone tell me the relationship between weight gain and your period? or it should sort itself out at the next weekly weigh in i guess?

Trigger food - mocha ice cream

No exercise tonight -- I had a church thing. Maintained on the food log. So not too bad. My breasts feel terrible with PMS though.

pgh -- For me, I gain up to 5 lbs. It starts around midcycle with cravings... then comes the breast tenderness, then comes the bloat... Usually bloat and temporary gain clears up and bam! I get my period. It's almost reliable enough to be the signal.

chou - way to go on that nice long walk! It's like 10K!

whencatsattack:
Hope the next few weeks fly by and things ease up! WTG on the 20 lb milestone too!

Tomorrow I really need to workout after taking child to summer camp so I'll check in here in the morning right before I do. I am having a friend visit in the afternoon so I don't want to miss out on exercise again.

my triggger food is talking about good food. my family was talking about carrot cakes and what cakes they were going to make this weekend and I had to leave the room. The boyfriend is on a diet too and we got into a 10 minute long convo about eating pasta w/ red sauce, with parmesan and bread and a dish called braciole. I had to go to bed immediatly so I didn't make something to eat.

Thanks everyone for the kudos! I really need to move the scale down i have been the same weight for weeks and weeks.

I really have got to get a handle on this sleep thing now that I know pretty much all of us in here go through something this. I was always told that I oversleep and I should sleep less to be more refreshed but I haven't really felt more refreshed and awake with only 8 hours. For example last night i went to to bed at a decent hour and did really "wake up" untill about 30 mins ago...

Definitly white bread of any kind, bad bad bad, when I give in to a craving, I notice the change in my body the next day or next few days. My energy level goes down and it is just ridiculous.

I have a general question for all of you battling PCOS - how does everyone deal with the hair loss, facial hair?

good morning, ladies!!

had my gyno appt on monday... new office, new doctor, but I actually saw the NP. OMG I love them. they have a lot of patients with PCO and it was fabulous to find a doctor that has that knowledge!

she gave me a trial pack of Yaz. is anyone on it, and what have your experiences been? I haven't been on any OC for years, and I know they've changed since then. would appreciate any feedback!!

Wow that is so lucky for you, the doctors in my area have very little knowledge of the disease, my old obgyn was acting like I brought it upon myself because I was obese

Hello ladies...STILL have an MIA AF...geez. I get so sick of this...
DH and I are actually thinking of trying a medicated cycle again next month...I'm nervous about it as far as if it works again and ends in miscarriage.
I am so frustrated with this disease...I wish it would just be cured already. :P

ghlover -- for a long time I just shaved/tweezered my chin hairs and ignored the scalp thinning because I knew it would clear up once androgens got under control. Well, androgens are still crazy and the thinning is much more, so I recently started taking Spiro to see what happens. But I still just shave or tweeze for the chin line.

ShelBl -- no Yaz experience. I'm a Sprintec (generic) or OrthoCyclen person. But hey! That's great that you love this doc and office and they seem knowledgeable. That is cool.

Pinkhoodie -- what was it you were taking again? Was it a mix of Glucophage and Clomid?

Some docs want people to quit the Glucophage right away and others want them to carry on through at least first trimester to reduce miscarrying. Some even go all the way through the birth -- when I was PG I remember it seemed to be the US docs want to stop it, and the Canada docs wanted to go at least through first trimester. That was years ago so perhaps things are different now? Check with your doc.

Might also check the Soulcyster "The Mother 'hood" area of that forum... that is the nice thing about a bigger forum. You get perspectives from ladies all over the world.

http://www.soulcysters.net/forum.php

At any rate, whatever you choose to do you have my best wishes! GL!

MY CHECK IN:

It is Cycle Day 19. The crazy cravings have let up, and my food log is solid today. I'm not battling crazy carb or sweet urges. The breast tenderness and bloaties let up too. MUUUUCH better mood!

Have to get the family settled with dinner so I'll check back later...hopefully with workout notes!

A.

@ ghlover - the facial hair is a big problem for me.. especially the chin .. Hair loss.. not that much currently.
I notice both are lesser in intensity in the week that i workout atleast 5 times for about 50-60 mins each time. I guess the key to all of this is to Workout! Lets go ladies.. to Workout!
