Default Optifast

I started on October 15th, and I had my first weigh in on October 29th. I lost 10 pounds!! My next weigh in will be November 12th. I have been walking during lunch at work most days...usually 1 1/2 miles. I feel great and can't wait until my next weigh in. I think that I'm going to lose another 10.

3-5 optifast 800 shakes period. rarely 3.. yesterday was an exception as I had a very bad day and drinking was the last thing on my mind. For mental reasons I usually drink 4. It makes me feel secure knowing I will never be hungry by having one left over at the side of my bed. If I were to go to bed thinking that's it I'm done and feeling sick from hunger I would have a panic attack. So it's important to have that last one available to me at any time. So I end up drinking 4 normally.

I just started Optifast today and I have a long way to go. Anyone else here still on it or starting? I'd love to hear how it is going! :-)

Dear Scoobdeb
Well done for starting. The first few days are tough but once you start to see results it becomes easier.
I started early March and it's the results that keep me going.

I look forward to hearing how you are going.

Dear bbarber62
You have done so well. 32.4lb so far is excellent. I am on week 7 and happy with results. What is your Optifast programme, if you don't mind sharing?

Hey guys! Who's still on Optifast? I definitely need an Optifast buddy (or more than one, preferably more than one) - feeling a bit on my own since my husband decided to quit after 2 shakes...

I failed day one - had dinner. Failed day 2 - had lunch and dinner. Yesterday would be day 3. Failed again. Lunch. Today is new. My new day 1. So far so good. Probably because I'm at work and not home haha.

Dear JenX
I also find it much easier to keep with Optifast programme when I'm at work. All about keeping myself very busy I think. So in the evenings I try to keep myself engaged in physical or mental activities then go to bed at a good hour.
Keep going, once you see some results it will help.

Hi KickinIt23
Optifast is called a VLCD (very low calorie diet). Where you use shakes or bars or soups made up by Optifast manufacturer 3 to 5 times a day instead of ordinary food. Usually the diet is supervised by your doctor or specialised clinic programme. Hope this helps.

Question Any suggestions for dealing with the hunger at night? I can't sleep :(

Hey everyone!

I just started Optifast and I'm doing fine except for one thing - the hunger at night!

I am committed to this program and have gathered a pretty decent toolbox in order to deal with a variety of issues. But this severe feeling of hunger is making it very difficult for me to fall asleep.

Last night I caved and ate a few pieces of celery and I'm not sure how to feel about it. On one hand it's *just* celery, but on the other, it's food -- which I am not supposed to be eating! (I am waiting to hear back from my dietician to see if this small allowance could be made ... or maybe a few slices of cucumber?). Normally I would not think twice about some celery, but I wonder if it will disrupt my adjustment and perhaps perpetuate the hunger issue?

Today I am hoping that the fiber supplements I added to 2 of my shakes will help to prevent the hunger at night. (btw, good blender + ice + water + orange sugar-free metamucil + squirt of orange Mio + vanilla Optifast + frappe setting = yay!)

Anyhow, I want to stay on track ... but, I also want to sleep! I am sleep deprived and need to find a good way to deal with this.

Can anyone share their experiences with this? How were you able to deal with it? How long did it last?

Aside, I am happy to see so many people offering each other support on this site -- Thank you! :)
