I heard something funny today...a new word.

Hangry - when you're so hungry you're angry.

It's good to see everyone, both newbies and pros, sticking to plan and being successful.

We can do this!... One day at a time!

@devlingeorgia, thanks

@starlightmintz yes we can!

Today is day 4 and i have a vague headache. But i must say that over all i feel much better today. Today i started adding a scoop of that powdered fiber to each shake, because the shakes do not have any fiber in them, I don't want that to become a problem

Tomorrow will be my first social event while on the program. I will be having a few family members over tomorrow for lunch, i'm not looking forward to it I wanted to cancel but I know I cannot hide from family events this entire time, :i know I'll be just fine.

@devin thanks, i can't wait to have another newbie posting

@floralshorts Congrats, you are and inspiration

Having guest over went great, it was not as hard as i imagined . It helped that i told guest that they could eat as soon as they arrived that way people were eating at different times and it saved me from an awkward moment of sitting at a table with everyone and not eating. I worked out on the elliptical today 60 minutes that went great. Today is a another great day and I feel great again, lots of energy for my daily routine

Default Optifast after major spinal surgery?

I'm new here and incredibly grateful I found this group! I had major back surgery almost three months ago at my heaviest I've ever been. There's nothing like showing your naked body to a room full of strangers to make ya feel awesome...It was my third surgery and hopefully my last. I have quickly realized that if I don't lose this weight fast, I'll end up with more surgery. I'm not sure I could face it again, recovery has been incredibly difficult and painful. I still struggle with pain day and night. I had a physical before surgery and will see a diet specialist as soon as I'm fit to travel far enough. The doctor I saw for the physical basically told me I didn't need surgery and to get off my fat butt and get active and quit eating crap. Luckily my tests came back fine with no issues...yet. For now, I'm going it alone. My goal is to get my life back and be able to be an active mom. I have 4 kids and the oldest will leave for college within a year, the youngest is 10. I guess I'm wondering if anyone else has done Optifast after major surgery?

Ok,
So far day 1 has been flying by! I can't keep up, I swear I finish a shake Vanilla with coffee in it (pee) then drink my 20oz water~per shake (pee 2x's) and BAM it's time for another, this one is a chocolate (pee 2x's)! And so on and so on...How am I ever going to leave the house! hahaha I still have 2 more to go plus 40 oz of water....Yikes!
I also bought water enhancers to try. I had never used them before, but I like the variety and I control the strength!! Flavors: Pineapple Coconut, Grape, Black Cherry, and Orange. A little better than the Crystal Light.

Feel a little tired but so far so good! Hope everyone else is doing well!!

PS How do you get your trackers to show???

Hi, new to the board and starting Optifast on Monday. Looking forward to talking to people who truly "get" it about the struggle to lose weight. My goal is to lose 50lbs.

Yup. I started at 323 when I began Optifast. I did it for about 26 weeks (intensive phase only). By the end I was at 226 pounds.

The diet wasn't hard for me. After the first week (which is BRUTAL) that part was smooth sailing. I wasn't ever, -EVER- hungry. I had to remind myself to eat most of the time.

However, I was in the gym or the pool 5-6 days a week. I started shallow water running - 50-70 laps a day and when I wasn't in the pool would walk up to 5 miles a day.

I mostly maintained that weight for about a year - going back up to 242 pounds after a course of steroids to treat my arthritis. When I gain weight after a course of steroids I'll tend to go back on Optifast for 3+ weeks to reset my hunger levels and that works beautifully. Then I just go back to eating normally (but less) and I maintain my weight until I go back on steroids again.
