I know I commented on Step 9 in a past thread and I wanted to share a few more of my thoughts on Step 9.
This Step seems to tie so much of our program together. Especially the character defects. I know my character defects and they pop up once in awhile. My HP is slowly removing them as I pray He does.

The cool part is I don't want to give into my character defects and have to make amends again. This means I treat people with kindness and become silent, say the "Prayer of the Sick" and "bite my tongue". Then I don't have to be sorry for my behavior and if I don't have to be sorry then I don't have to be angry and if I am not angry I don't give into my desease and I stay abstinent.

I think my point is you can't find recovery from our illness in just a Food Plan and giving up sugar and flour. You must give up those things so you can work the Steps with a clear mind.

thanks for your powerful share. i am a newbie and haven't really started working the steps. i often wonder how this will all work. i am doing a food plan and i have a sponsor but still struggle with compulsive behavior. thanks for giving me some insight about what i can look forward to. as i learn about each step i see so much hope being revealed...hope for healing.
