Haha, not me, but I looked it up and I liked it :)

Almost two weeks and down 9lbs! I could not believe it when I looked at the scale! I'm sure it mostly water weight, but it's a good start. Meals have been good. Mostly eggs, chicken, steak and tons of veggies. I found a really good Mexican restaurant near my work and had a "naked burrito"- all the good stuff without the tortilla :) Body balance class tonight and spinning tomorrow night.

Have a great day!!

Congrats motivated! I met my (2nd) husband in England after accidentally meeting him online six months prior (long story). I was on vacation with an informal group of educators and agreed to meet him while there. We hit it off and had a trans-Atlantic romance for a year before we got married and he moved here. He's just now applied for citizenship :) Our 10-year anniversary is this coming June.

Hey Carol Sue! Hope your numbers are staying under control. I requested a reevaluation from my life insurance company and got preferred status! My monthly premium was cut almost in half :) However, my weight loss is soooo slow now, but I know it is because I dont have much ledt to lose. My goal was to be under 130 by Halloween, but I know it's going to be more like Christmas. I'm not getting enough exercise.

Tonight, hubs and I are going to see The Sound of Music in the big city. A friend of my son's has to fill empty seats when sales are low or they can't sell turned-in tickets from season-pass holders. Son's landlord bar tends there and invited us to have drinks on her when we arrive, so she can finally meet us. So, I get to dress up a little in new clothes.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Yesterday.....
Brunch - chicken thigh, sweet potato fries, salad
Snack -herb popcorn
Dinner - prosciutto/red onion pizza w/balsamic reduction (so good!)
Snack - Bud Select 55 x 2

I just looked up that song and it was from back in my hay day...1971. I'm really showing my age. LOL

PQ, my blood sugar is coming down again, but so far, not my weight. I am working on making sure I'm hungry before I eat. I get into the habit of eating by the clock, which isn't good for me.

Good job on getting reevaluated for insurance!

Happy weekend everyone! It's lunchtime and I'm still in my pjs........we invited a work friend and family of hubs over last night for a bonfire. He has three kids under nine and I was tired when they left :) and slept in this morn. I've cooked, watched cooking shows and read Christmas mags. I need to get ready and do a few chores today. Hubs and I are going to the outlets tonight or tomorrow for candles, perfume/after shave, and clothes, of course. He's lost almost twenty pounds himself and more of his clothes are too big.

I hit a new low last week, so things are looking up. I ate at maintenance three days straight and started dropping again :) our bodies are funny machines.....

Hope everyone is doing well.....

Hi all! I'm settling into an extremly low-carb and higher fat diet to kick the sugar that's creeped into my life the last few months. While I'm still on the lower side of my spectrum, I've gained a few pounds since my lowest weight in June (because heart break does that me.) I'm feeling game and ready - and actually was really inspired by a "big think" video on youtube about weightloss and giving the body a chance to experience it's own winter.

My goal in the next month is to relax, better manage my stress and sleep, increase my insulin sensitivity. It's hard to break the eating for comfort, or because "it's time" rather than hunger.

Wannabehealthy 10-16-2016 09:38 PM

Come on in Rosinante!! Let's hear all about it. LOL

PQ, doing great still losing! Nice that Hubs has lost, too, and needs new clothes. I'm just looking forward to fitting into some of my old ones. I didn't get to wear them very long. Hope you had fun at the outlets.

Motivated
, that's something about meeting DH in Las Vegas. Were you both there on vacation? I can't remember where you said you were from originally, if you said. My brain is very old and tired.

Welcome SouvenirDarling. Come on in and tell us more. It sounds like you are ready to get down to it with low carb high fat. I have a very hard time eating only when hungry.

Haha, my brain feels old and tired :) I'm originally from Connecticut. We met in Vegas on a business trip as we are both in the same industry. Love at first site and went back and forth for a year before we were married :)

I had a business lunch yesterday so I messed up slightly with my diet. White wine, lobster, fries, but it was so good. Back on track today and headed to the gym after work :)

souvenirdarling 10-18-2016 12:45 PM

motivated1977: oh love at first sight :) it's lovely to hear those stories! How was the show???

So far so good on day 4. I'm sticking to a 7-8 hour eating window, but I'm wondering if that's something I should save for later, along with fasting, once I've gotten a handle on the cravings.
That said, though, the cravings haven't been bad - I've said no to many a temptation. I'm eating a spoon of coconut oil when the desire hits, to see what kind of a difference it makes on my body/weight/mood/skin. I'm not particularly tracking my food intake.

I was planning on keeping my social events on the downlow to help resist temptation, but I'm planning a date for Friday night... and I'm thinking I'll plan it for *after* dinner. Genius!!

motivated1977 10-19-2016 03:21 AM

souvenirdarling: Yes, I didn't believe in love at first sight until I experienced it :)

Sounds like you are doing really well on your plan; well done! I have some cravings, but I'm writing them down and save them for my cheat day; sort of like deferred eating :)

Have a great day!

Wannabehealthy 10-22-2016 08:30 AM

Motivated, that's a really good idea to save your cravings for cheat day if you're able to do it. They say that if you have a craving, wait 20 minutes, and most of the time the craving will go away. Most people can't wait the 20 minutes. I think that's because the craving comes while the food is right there in front of you. When I lived alone, I would get a craving for ice cream. I always bought my ice cream at the little convenience store down the street because they sold individual servings and I didn't have to bring a big carton of ice cream into the house. Most of the time, just the thought of having to go out, get into the car and drive to the store made me decide I didn't want it that badly. Back then, food was very low on my budget so I hardly ever had much in the house. Now, the house is always very well stocked. We could live for a couple weeks without leaving the house if we had to. That's not always a good thing.

I always like to tell the story of my sister-in-law. Years ago she did this 6:1 plan and lost 97 lbs. She stayed on a strict plan S-F, and on Saturday they went out for dinner to their favorite restaurant and she ordered whatever she wanted, and a pitcher of beer. This was before anyone ever heard of this being called a plan. She said she could get through the week of deprivation knowing that she could have whatever she wanted on Saturday. I think this is where these plans come from. Someone does it and it works, and they tell someone else, who tells someone else, and before you know it, someone is writing a book about it and making lots of money. LOL

Good job, Souvenir! An eating window can be good or bad. Some people who try to eat within a window eat more within the window because they know they have to stop after their window closes. That's not good. But the longer time period between your last meal of the day and the first meal the next day can be very beneficial. It all depends on the person. If it works for you, go for it!

How's it going PQ? Still maintaining? Or losing more?

Rosinante
, come on, get back here and fess up! We know you want to! Ha Ha

Me? I'm doing terrible, thanks for asking. LOL I've just been an eating machine. Weight is back over 200, blood sugar is back up. All H*LL has broken loose. But reading the thread and seeing the success of other is giving me some encouragement that I can do this!!

PrairieQueen 10-23-2016 12:00 PM

Hi everyone! Carol Sue I gained a couple of pounds this week for Aunt Flo's visit. I've not fasted all week but stayed within a deficit most days and at maintenance the others. I always seem to be able to lose a couple of pounds right after AF leaves so fingers crossed. I've not been exercising at all this week though, except for normal chores.

Hubs and I visited the local wine shop yesterday for the first time. It's been open a year and we'd heard good things. We walked out with five bottles! She gave us a mini tasting based on what we to,d her about our likes/dislikes........the owner was spot on with the choices. I made egg rolls from scratch today. We already had some for lunch and I put the rest in the freezer. We had some yummy New York strips for dinner just night.

My friend is having her mastectomy tomorrow, and my bro is having his back surgery. I can't visit him, but I'll be stopping in to see her after school.

See ya!

Hi All,

I've been reading up on some of you;) In a good way, of course. Since the Dukan thread seems to be slightly dormant, are there any Dukan "professionals" on here who could tell me if it's possible to eat too FEW veggies?

I had expected my tomatoes to be amazing after finishing the attack phase, but I wasn't exactly blown away at lunch, so only had one for dinner with my mackerel, plus meat loaf slice. Is it true that you should strive for a meat to veg ratio of 2:1? It's what I read in a book by someone who lost over 30kg with Dukan.

Would dearly appreciate any input from you Ladies!

Much obliged:)
Mila
