I've been doing okay this ekend, keeping calorie count in check but having too many bad carbs yesterday. Break-leftover pizza, one piece; lunch-leftover pasta/pesto; dinner-ribs, leftover potatoes/red peppers, pickled Korean radishes (yum). Out for two beers at the pub but no water. Up a pound this mor,

Today,
Break - leftover pasta/pesto, lunch-angus beef on wheat bun, dinner- beef enchilada, half piece homemade apple pie......lots of water today. No snacks either day. We'll see what the scale thinks in the morn.

SeeMyFeet 09-27-2015 09:45 PM

Yes, Carol, the internet has done wonders to prevent agglomeration around my house—if it’s in the interwebs, I don’t keep it...wish DH would ascribe to that logic…..(notice how I avoided the word “hoarding”?)

Yea yea yea…no more Chunky Monkey….DH knows I like CM, and I think he feels like a lion tamer when he throws some at me. (Would someone please tell him I also like a clean kitchen?) I wouldn’t have had the ice cream at all, Jaq, if my calories for the day had not been so low.

Not much milk in the coffee, Mars, and not much coffee either. Not a Starbucks bucket, anyway—just a single cup. And no I’m not hungry. I munch on the salad and fruit all day. The ranch has few carbs, not that I trust the label.

Oh, chickadee, I feel ya on the meds. And the stress. I keep reminding myself how much better our lives are over that of our ancestors, thanks to improved medicine. In my head, my meds give me Super Powers….imagine lightning bolts….

mmmmm love2b….blue crabs…..

Congrats on the loss FF! post menus? I'm not really "carb sensitive"; I just think they're evil.

So today's menu was a repeat of yesterday, except chicken instead of Chunky Monkey….strips sautéed in a little EVOO/butter along with red peppers, red onions, garlic and ginger. I usually use the weekends to set up salads and fruit for the week, but fought that urge and decided to stick with the salad bar plan. The meds leave me so exhausted on weekends, so I’m trying to find ways to buy more time. Today was no exception, though I did manage to exercise.

SeeMyFeet, Oh my, DH and I are both hoarders, except we hoard different things. When I do decide to toss something DH decides that either it will be worth money "someday" or his daughter might want it. She rarely wants it, and it will still be sitting up in our attic when we die and his kids can throw it out. I sneak things into the garbage and cover them up with something else.

My mother used to cut recipies out of newspapers and magazine and keep them in a box and never use them. I grabbed that box when she passed away, and now I do the same thing, even though recipes are so available online. I had so many old computer reference books in my computer desk. I'm so glad they're gone. Out to the recycle bin.

SeeMyFeet 09-28-2015 10:47 AM

Thinking of breakfast when I woke up and felt that wrenching churn at the thought of having eggs for breakfast.....again! ...that old Atkins-Is-Disgusting feeling....but I had 2 eggs anyway because I'm going for consistency. Can Not WAIT to dig into the fresh pineapple at work.

Carol: I still have my greasy box of recipes on note cards that I prepared in high school! I've never made most of those dishes and probably never will. Betty Crocker, inDeed!

I had high intentions of getting all kinds of things done this weekend, and to say I was productive would be a misrepresentation of the truth. Not surprisingly, I feel grumpy, depressed and dreading the work day. I'm hoping that the genuine fear that all these weight loss plans and efforts (with their promise of success) might slip from my mind will motivate me to get control of my life, especially the weekends. Also hoping that my discomfort in wearing this slightly too-tight blouse will be motivating. Feeling slightly flu-like, so looking for motivation...not sure if it's the RA or the sinus/head cold that isn't going away as quickly as I thought.

Jacqui, LOL I just got the Goldilocks part of your comment to me, DUH!! :) Thanks for the tips about the fruit. I only like pears, grapefruit, apples (sometimes) they make my stomach hurt if I eat too much, greenish bananas, (the yellow ones stink) yuk, and of course my staple (if I wanted to eat and it was too late) at night use to be a cup of grapes. :) Well in reading you all's comments maybe she did delete her post. I did that on a thread once because the thread starter was rude to me and everything I said she shot it down like she was the expert and I kept thinking you are here just like me weighing what I weighed and guess what she no longer post. I wonder why????

Hi SeeMyFeet, :welcome: to the thread :) Glad to have you :) I would definitely lose weight with your eating plan, and boy do I wish I could go to a salad bar each day. I'm with you on the blue crab  Hope you feel better soon

Carol, thanks for the exercise tip :) I just read something I came across on google that said getting in 10,000 steps won't get the weight loss results you want. Well we all know I worked wonders for this body just walking and eating right. So Carol you are correct everybody is different because it sure does work for me ;) but it was 300-360 minutes a week :) Carol I am really interested in that chili recipe. I wonder if these people in here will eat it. Only my husband and I eat kidney, and white great northern beans. The others minus one kid will eat the Bush's vegetarian baked beans.

Great advice Mars :) Responding to/Answering your questions to SeeMyFeet :) I don't know the difference in the fruits or veggies for that matter. I just eat what I like to keep from binging. When I do drink coffee use the SF caramel macchiato creamer when I can find it. Other than that I use the fat free regular with water added, it still gives the same flavor and I don't drink coffee that often. It was just the pb flavor. YUM :) I have the pb&j one. I took a little piece off of it but it seemed really sweet so I'm not sure how I'll like that. I don't like jelly unless it is apple jelly and then I can use two tablespoons of pb or more with very little of the apple jelly. If I can feel it in my mouth or see chucks of it I can't eat it. My kids say I really like choke sandwiches ;) There is a GNC on my route home. I may have to look for the apple pie flavor. I don't care too much for the sugar cookie flavor either. Did you get yours off of their site? They have a sampler box for $13.99 free shipping and they sent me coupons also to use online. I even got a hand written note from someone there, thanking me for trying them. I thought wow!! :) Sure Mars, we can do that type of challenge :) I'm on the 2% challenge on here now. I won the last one after that first day of eating on plan. Haven't checked to see if anyone has won on the thread I set up. I only like pumpkin pie. The sound of a latte and drinking it seems disgusting to me (not sure why) and I haven't tried it so I'll never know :)

Chicky, yes what Jacqui said :) hope you can get off of those meds  I like your menu :D

FinallyFree nice to see you here :) you won't hear any comments here about cheese being a no carb thing. :) We all eat a little ;)

Bewildered, I hope and pray that all is well.

Yesterday was a good day, being yet another day one on Dukan Diet Attack but it was a success. I am down 2.4lbs to 170.3. So far today has been great and I didn't eat glazed doughnuts that were brought into work YAY ME.

B~ 2 eggs with bacon and cheese, oat bran and water
L~ meatballs and water
S~ oat bran muffin
D~ 2 pieces of salmon, water
S~ 12 blue diamond almonds oven roasted dark chocolate

chickadeee55 09-28-2015 04:46 PM

SeeMyFeet, ok, I may just steal your thoughts on meds being ;lightening bolts. I have always had issues with medications, I have a fine line of tolerance to them, they are all to strong. But this is day 3.

Carol Sue, I love to cook, and I love to make different things, new things. But I love to have a cook book in my hands than look on line. My DH will eat almost anything at least once! LOL

Today they had a bake sale at work, fund raiser for United Way, you would not believe the stuff that was there. Probably more than you would find in an actual bakery. And I will have you know, I bought nothing nor did I eat any of it. It wasn't worth it to me. I know fund raisers are a good thing, but it will be a season of bagel sales, pie contests, walking tacos, chili cook offs, doughnut day, another bake sale, guess how many jelly beans are in the jar. Food, food food. Yep, your best bet is to go to work with no money in your pocket!

I really feel this whole low carb thing has to be what works for the person. I eat eggs every morning, I love having them with veggies mixed in. I have been eating farm fresh eggs, right from the nest, I don't know if they are better or not, but they are sure egg-ier in flavor.

Today:
B: Eggs, broccoli, coffee
S: cucumbers, pecans
L: grilled turkey Pattie,
S: 1/4 apple with cheese stick
D: Ribs, green beans, salad

Jacqui_D 09-28-2015 05:36 PM

Rennie, YAY on losing 2.4 more lbs and being on the cusp of the 160's! That is so exciting! Great job on having a successful Dukan Attack day! :bravo: Uh-oh, as the thread-starter here, I certainly hope I didn't say anything to Bewildered to make her want to delete her posts as you experienced with another thread-starter! I adore her, as I do all of you, and I would never want to hurt her feelings! But we do know, although well-meaning, I have a knack for being too blunt with my opinion sometimes! Surely one of you would have clued me in, right? Oh my, now I'll have to go back and check!

Chickadeee, woohoo on not eating or buying any of those tempting foods! Way to go! :high:

PrairieQueen, good job yesterday! I hope the scale rewarded you this morning! :cp:

SeeMyFeet, I hope you start feeling better! Unfortunately, as an autoimmune disorder, RA can contribute to not being able to fight off things like sinus infectons well, so it may be a combination of both. :getwell: By the way, you are doing so wonderfully on the swimming! :swim: I hear you on the eggs after Atkins. The one time I tried Atkins, that's what I specifically remember, coming to despise eggs. But that was many years ago and now I love eggs! I eat them every morning. :T

Carol Sue, the fact that your DH wants to keep the things you want to toss out because they might be worth money made me laugh, because my DH does the same thing! I'm beginning to think they are long-lost brothers, lol! Thanks for posting that link. That chili does look really good!

Mars. I love pumpkin season! However, lattes are coffee or something with a coffee flavor, aren't they? I do not like coffee AT ALL, and that's putting it mildly. I don't even like the smell of coffee. So that kind of rules out lattes, but I love pretty much everything else pumpkin! :hungry:

Hi FinallyFree! I hope you're having a good day!

So today I was up a lb. How I get a delayed reaction after Carb Day, I'm not sure, but it happens! Then again, I didn't drink as much water yesterday as I usually do, so that's probably the real culprit. I'm trying to drink more today. I want to get away from the 180's!

Chicky, good job at the bake sale :)

Nope Jacqui, no 180's for you :nono: and I'm sure you didn't say anything wrong.

Carol, my son picked up the almonds for me. As you know I don't typically like any nut but pistachios and cashews. But these are good. :) I ate 12 :)

wurdnerd 09-28-2015 06:11 PM

Jacqui... it looks like you are doing some type of carb-cycling. Any specific plan, or something of your own creation? I've been semi-successful with my current plan (MRC) but hit a wall every few days and can't stand the thought of one more high-protein meal. I need more carbs.

Edit: Silly me. I just read the first post and see your plan. I would still welcome advice. Thankies!

FinallyFree 09-28-2015 07:24 PM

thanks for the nice welcome Low Carbers,,,,

Well I have a plan today:

hot chicken thighs
turkey burger with shrooms and one Anaheim pepper
4 eggs deviled with hummus.

total calories 1,050 total carbs 8
If I need more I'll add some shimp with butter.

That's the plan

Jacqui_D 09-28-2015 07:41 PM

Hi Wurdnerd, welcome! Yes, it's sort of carb-cycling because I eat low glycemic index (slow-burning) foods for 6 days and then I eat whatever I want on the 7th day and that day is definitely carb-laden, lol! :chockiss: :hb: :jeno: Are you considering switching to a higher carb plan? I REALLY like what I'm doing. I feel like I'm eating healthily, but at the same time, I'm not missing out on the foods I love (namely, sweets). If you like your MRC diet for the most part, adding a Carb Day might work well to help rejuvenate you each week. It would be worth considering if you are thinking about making a change. The thing you have to remember, though, is that you will gain water weight after a Carb Day since carbs hold water. But it will fall back off! That's what happens to me every single week, and I'm still losing! :dancer:

Rennie, well, I went back and checked and I definitely didn't say anything even remotely controversial to Bewildered, so thank goodness for that! :cp: In fact, everyone was only posting very supportive things. :dunno: I agree with Mars that she posted last around the 17th. My last response to her around that time was actually intended for Mars! I'm not sure why I typed her name, but Mars, YES, my little cheerleaders are Buckeye cheerleaders, haha! :cheer2: Rennie, hopefully those 180's will be gone tomorrow! :crossed:

FinallyFree, that's sounds pretty yummy! :hungry: I hate to see you go under 1200 calories though, so I hope you decide to eat your shrimp with butter! (Oh, you might as well know right up front, I'm a mother hen, lol!)

Wannabehealthy 09-28-2015 09:51 PM

Rennie, I looked and looked and couldn't see Jacqui's remark to you about Goldilocks. I am so curious!! You know I hate to miss anything. LOL

Jacqui, I started drinking coffee in my early 20s when I worked at this one job where they didn't turn the heat on until we got there. It was steam heat and took a while to get up to the second floor. I chose coffee out of the machine over hot chocolate to avoid the calories. Otherwise I never drank coffee. When I met DH he was always offering me a cup of coffee at his place but I still was not a coffee drinker. Sometime during our marriage I started drinking it and now I have a few cups in the morning, but never coffee after 10AM. It's just a morning thing for me. Since I started buying Sugar Free Vanilla Caramel Creamer I'm loving it! But still only a morning thing. Doesn't interest me after 10 AM. Weird, huh?

mars735 09-29-2015 12:07 AM

Rennie I'm taking a break from the scale for a few days to get my Carb Day water wt down. But I'd guess you have already caught up and passed me. Now I'm motivated, lol. You are smokin', girl! Great on the steps--those really do count. Congrats on winning the challenge!
I was wondering what you thought of the sugar cookie bar--I agree that it's too sweet. [I did not buy the sampler as I had bought a few at GNC, buy 3 get the 4th free. Then I bought 3 boxes from Vitacost the ones I liked].

Thanks Carol for posting the chili link--it looks great. I might try it w chicken.

Jacqui, Oh that's right, I think you've said you don't like coffee. I like it too much. i drink it even if it keeps from a good night's sleep. I would rather have coffee than sugar, and that's saying a lot!

Seemyfeet That chicken garlic ginger sounded so good! I hope you feel better soon.

I had a good day except it looked like I might not get a break for dinner at work. That always unnerves me, sometimes my concentration suffers if I get hungry. So I ate 2 extra B-up bars, after having had one for a snack. Yes, 3 total. At least it's mostly fiber & protein. Otherwise an ok day.

B mushroom & sauerkraut omelet, whey shake/coffee
S B-up bar (cinnamon)
L salad, chicken, kidney beans, evoo
S B-up bars-2
D turkey chili, roasted cabbage
S cauli
2L cold cinnamon spice herbal tea

SeeMyFeet 09-29-2015 12:28 AM

I’m loving all the activity in this thread! :jig:

JacquiD, Feeling fine, just coughing. And constipated. I could use a plunger for my intestines and a vacuum tube for my lungs. Ha…just kidding….I hardly coughed at all today.

FF: Hot Chicken Thighs ……oooOOOooh, that tickled my funny bone!!

Carol—I think that Goldilocks reference was meant to remind us to have our eyes checked.

Don’t know why, but I was super super grumpy today. And had weird dreams last night. Menu same as yesterday: eggs, pineapple, salad, Hot Chicken Breast :D, and splurged on a few nuts.

FinallyFree 09-29-2015 01:22 AM

Don't worry Jacqui, whenever I told my Mom not to make me dinner, she knew that really meant,,,,make more than usual,,,,LOL,,,;)

Love2be,,,,I'm glad to know this is a cheese loving place. I will indulge,,,but not to much.:) hopefully:o
