Jacqui, the smaller plate theory doesn't work for me. I never eat off a dinner-size plate but I just go back and refill my little plate. My thinking is, "I can have more because I only had that little plateful." It's very hard to cook just for 2 people. I try to do it with some things but then DH will say "Is that all you made?" When he was growing up, there were his parents and 5 boys. His father insisted that his mother always cook extra. He said if the food is gone when they are finished eating, then maybe someone wanted more but there wasn't any more. There had to always be food left when they were done. That doesn't work for me. When there's food left, that's my signal to eat more, whether I need it or not.
When I went on my first ever diet I was very disciplined. My mother would not cook special food for me, so I ate 1 serving of whatever she made for dinner, then I left the table. Very hard for me to do that now. Poor Ichabod. I hope he isn't in any pain. |
ok I'll be back later but
... Jacqui you are on my tail lady I was 178.1 yesterday. Today I am 177.2. My husband brought my treadmill in the house today so I will start on that either Thursday or Friday. Wish me luck  Jacqui,I'm sorry Ichabod is having high low days  The only treat that I tried that I use to like years ago that I don't like now is HoHo's. They just taste weird to me now. I can't explain the flavor, but it's not the same as it use to be. On the size of the plate. I think that is what I use to do when we were doing this together before. I may have to start doing it again, along with coming on here to check in more often :D and Chicky yellow Zingers are the BESTEST :D Chicky what a beautiful baby :) Carol, I think I've seen the raspberry Zingers at Sheetz. I started eating them in 97 when I was pregnant with my son. I too would race to the vending machine at work to get them for 70 cents before a co-worker did. I think they are $1.69 at Sheetz now, smh. Mary, I'm sorry you had a rough day yesterday  I will tell you that I have been feeling the same way the last few weeks at work. My one friend on the job got a well deserved and long awaited promotion and I just felt like after she left everyone was against me for one reason or another. I've been listening to praise and worship to get me through the days. I hope today was better for you  Mars, I have to have the competitiveness in order to do something or should I say get something done. :) I just told my son that I need to do a challenge with him :) I want to start on Thursday hopefully and commit to ... Bewildered where are you? I'm sure I probably missed something. Hope you are doing well  |
Beautiful fall evening....my favorite season.
Jacqui:hug: Such a roller coaster with Ichabod. It must be maddening not to have a diagnosis. He knows he is loved. Rennie, Your competitive spirit is commendable! I have to be careful with that when dieting--it can easily backfire & send me to Binge City  I hope your son takes you up on the challenge! I'm excited for you w the treadmill, and hope you enjoy it. I love to get on a treadmill with just the right music that makes my legs move no matter what my head is thinking. Do you like to do anything while you're on the treadmill? Bewildered I miss ya!!! Confession time: my B-up bars for travel arrived today, 3 flavors. If anyone gets triggered reading about food, this would be a good paragraph to skip! I just had to try 1 of each flavor. The Cinnamon was meh (but I ate it all, just to be sure). The PBJ was ok, good but not enough to make my crave it. The chocolate mint was really good. Not too sweet or minty. I could eat another, so I will be hiding the rest in my car. I like these bars because they are very chewy and not overly sweet, and they are satisfying. I think they could be an ok choice when real food is not handy. Other than that, a good day. I hope the scale doesn't ding me for those bars! B mushroom omelet, broccoli, why shake/coffee L salad, beans, chicken, evoo, apple S whey shake/coffee; 3 b-up bars---that's really a full meal, not a snack! D chicken breast w Tuscany herbs, cauli & butternut squash, quinoa, evoo, 2 L herbal tea W 170.8 |
My friends, I just wanted to come on and let you know I am not disappearing. I lost my brother yesterday. I'm just devastated right now. My mother and two of my older brothers had diabetes type 1 and I have lost all 3 of them now to that terrible disease. I'll be back on soon to catch up.
|
Oh Jacqui, I am so sorry to hear of your terrible loss. I hope you soon find some comfort from many wonderful memories. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
|
Jacqui, I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your brother. May he rest in peace, and may God's love comfort you and your family.
|
Rennie, I cannot deal with competitiveness. I think I know that I lose so slowly that I will never win a competition. It makes me just give up.
I think I am going to have to buy some Raspberry Zingers and see how they taste to me now. I do not like Ho Hos. Never did. I didn't like that weird chocolate on the outside. On praise and worship. When we leave the house we turn on a radio so the dog will hear people talking while we're gone. The station that comes in the clearest is the Christian station. I think this is why my dog is so good! He listens to worship all day! |
I caught a break after a lot of extra snacking yetserday. None of it was really bad, but I did eat a lot. After the B-ups, I still ate an apple, a bunch of cauliflower, a chicken breast, I forgot what else.

Mars, I just listen to music when I'm on the treadmill. The way its positioned I can't see the television so music it is :). My son hasn't responded to me yet about a challenge so I may have to join the exercise one on here with gardenerjoy (I think is the one I use to do) and see if I can meet my miles in a month goal (don't know what that is gonna be yet :)) Mars, I just ordered the 6 flavor sampler. Looking forward to trying them ;) Mars, you didn't do bad with your snacking. All good stuff to snack on and a loss on the scale to boot, GO YOU :high:
 Jacqui, I am sorry to hear of your loss. My condolences to you and your family  Jacqui love ya my sister (mother-hen) now I know why you get on me  thanks for being you  LOL Carol the chocolate on the outside is still weird :dizzy: but they use to be really good so I thought. Now I like those Farley or Freshley chocolate cup cakes. They're really good. ;) I'm down .7. I ate pizza last afternoon/early evening, thin crust and a cinnastick (my son ordered Dominos). Funny how the body works. I surely didn't expect a loss, but I will sure take it :) today's meals B~ 2 egg omelet with bacon and cheese, grapes L~ taco meat with taco shred cheese and mango peach salsa, spinach, grapes S~ popcorn, grapefruit D~ stir fry chicken with mango peach salsa, green beans only two 16.9oz bottles of water so far exercise 1.5 miles, 31:19 minutes |
Oh Jacqui! I'm so sorry for your loss. We've never met in the flesh, but I will be keeping you in my thoughts.
|
Jac, so sorry to hear of your brothers passing. May he be resting in God's hands now and free from all pain and illness. I think you have been tested for strength over the last few weeks to help prepare you and I think you have passed.
Your brother will live on for a long time in your memories. Just make sure you take time for yourself, don't rush through anything. Find peace. Thinking of you. (HUGS) I only hope we can keep The Low Carb Turning on here while you mend. |
Hi Everyone
Jacqui sending you prayers, a smile and a huge hug  Well I ate properly yesterday even hit the treadmill a day early (said I would start today). I have decided to do the Dukan Diet again. I did it back in August 2011 I recorded my meals on MFP so I went back and wrote then down. I did well on Dukan in the beginning then I think I hit a plateau or I just got bored or like normal for me I just had more off plan days than on plan and quit. Let's hope I can get it all back this time and get this weight off. I had a great whoosh ... 09/23 ~ 176.5 (-0.7) 1.5 miles, 31:19 minutes, 3.5 incline, 2.5-3.0 speed, did a little 3.2 but thighs started to hurt 09/24 ~ 172.8 (-3.4) 1.56 miles, 30:09 min, 3.5 incline, 3.2-3.5 speed breakfast today - 1.5 tbsp oat bran with cinnamon, a touch of vanilla, splenda, 1 egg, 1 slice smoked ham, 16.9oz water, green tea snack/lunch - stir fry chicken, taco meat, with Colby Jack, oat bran as above 24oz water, green tea |
Thinking of you Jacqui

:high: Rennie!!! You go GIRL!!!!
I'm going to try & write down what I ate yesterday to be accountable. I had a lot of errands and didn't get myself together to make a lunch. I ended up at Panera, then the WF hot bar. etc. Those foods always make me hungrier. B mushroom/veggie omelet, skin from chicken breast I broiled for dinner, whey shake/coffee S B-up bar L Panera Ancient grain salad. Did I rememebr to ask for dsg on the sie, hold the roll? Nope. I just gnawed the crust of the baguette & enjoyed the salad. Then I tasted yet another protein bar at GNC, Apple pie, and it's a total winner, tho a little more expensive than B-up. D1 WF almond chicken & sweet n sour chicken. D2 chicken breast, broccoli, quinoa cauliflower, whey shake/coffee S pear Sat 173 Sun 171.6 Mon 170.4 Tue 170.8 Wed 169.4 Thu 168.4 Fri |
I have been having too many potatoes lately and now I'm stuck, literally, on the scale. Tonight I will be having a little bit of pasta with my pesto/chicken/sun-dried tomatoes, but it doesn't seem to affect me in a negative way like the taters do. I even tried to "dilute" the pan-roasted ones last night with loads of bell pepper and onion, but I still overdid it. :(
I also made my own breakfast burritos yesterday and I think they are a little more calorie rich than my McD's 300 cal version. I had one and putting the rest in freezer for emergency food. Today: B one McDs burrito and Coke Life L feta burger with onion, no bun D pasta with pesto, chicken, sun-dried tomatoes |
