BFC2BThin - thank you so much for answering my question. I just can't believe the counts are low when it seems like alot for 1 meal. Anyway, thanks again & good luck on your weight loss journey.
That awesome. Not to bring any negative energy to the thread but I did notice, for me atleast, that I lost much more duing the first week or so, then the weight loss started to slow down. It still averaging about 2lbs a week give or take..not that I want some sort of unhealthy rapid weightloss but I did make that observation. Please let me know how it works for you as well as if anyone else has made this same observation.
Hope you are ready for the snow storm. I am already planning on taking off work
You did SUPER! Two pounds a week a very good and that is what most doctors advise. Also, you may not have as much weight to lose as someone heavier. IN the book, he gives you averages of how much weight a person can lose per week depending on how heavy they are. It is a chart towards the beginning.
My weightloss is accelerated because I do work out and I work out at an Intermediate to Advanced level. Mainly Intermediate. I am doing the Jari Love Ripped Series, the FIRM Transfirmer and now the Beachbody Brazilian Butt Lift. I do about 60 minutes on the weekends per session and 30 minutes daily. I did not start out doing this. In fact, I started out doing Ellen Barett's Barefoot Cardio and Debra Mazda's "Shapely Girl" walking DVD. For me (and everyone knows their own body), exercising was something I knew I would do no matter what diet I chose. With the BFC, I actually have the energy and the satiety to workout. Plus, I had 80 pounds to lose, now, 56, but for me and me only, this is the route I chose to take.
Believe me when I say, I started out doing 10 minutes and adding more as I went along every few days. Now, I am lifting 5 and 8 pounds with Jari Love's Extremely Ripped and Ripped 1000 which is a combination of weights and aerobics/step and interval training. The BFC has "freed" me from being hungry and given me energy. I don't try and impress anyone else but me. I am challenging myself to my own personal best. If you feel like you can exercise, then go for it! I started at 10 minutes and got "lighter" and more confident and I now know how not only losing the weight is making me healthier, but "moving" is getting me healthier.
You are already doing something so positive for you! You have gotten rid of the sugar and your body is loving you for it. I may not lose a pound this week, but that is "OK"..I am living life and eating well. Even yesterday, I went to Whole Foods and found the Joseph's Cookies on sale for $3.00 and I ordered a Sugar Free cheesecake from Juniors that I will eat over the next few weeks. QVC ships them and the price is not bad. They use the Maltitol and I am like "YEAH". There is also another company called, FIGIS I think out of Alabama that has sweets that use Maltitol as well.
I generally don't snack. I am just not hungry and when I eat a meal. I am full very quickly. When I do snack, I like to take some "Cold" Blue Diamond Unsweetened Choclate Almond Milk, 2 packs of Truvia and a Splash or two of Creme to make a really, rich tasting glass of chocolate milk. It is SOOO good and it is my "sweet indulgence".
My daily menu:
Breakfast:
Scrambled eggs made with refried spicy beans *usually a tablspoon) with green chiles
Low sodium bacon or gluten free salmon cakes
Lunch:
Wrap with deli meat, cheese, guacamole, EXTRA HOT Habenero salsa, spinach leaves.
Sometimes "Burger and Fries". I use the "Light" store brand sugar free wheat rolls, burger with the works and some portioned out fries that are either 1 or two servings of carbs.
Zevia Soda
Dinner:
Ranges from:
Buffalo Chili and Guacamole
Grilled meat, starch (usually potatoes!), mixed greens
Roasted chicken, beef, buffalo or pork
Spaghetti with meat sauce (use low carb tomato sauce)
Meatloaf (use low carb tomato sauce)
Smothered pork chops (Use the gravies he recommends and since I am cooking for a family of 4, I can enhance the gravy with 1 tablsp of regular flour and stock by making a roux..10 servings per batch. Not many carbs per serving)
Gluten Free fish cakes
Zevia Soda
I just like to keep it simple. When we go out to eat, I stick with grilled meats and seafood. If we eat a breakfast, I go for the omelettes and a side of hashbrowns, I bring my Truvia with me and have iced tea.

Wow that is some serious work outs. I do some in the evenings if the kids let me. Mostly do about 30mins of jump rump. I have all the P90x videos and a few months ago I actually completed it so I think I am going to do that again. Thanks for the info on the weight loss averages. that makes sense. My goal is 180 so i might shed it slower than some. Being snowed in this weekend I baked some boneless ribs and am going to spend on all my sugar points on BBQ sauce. LOL
Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend

I'm on my second week of BFC. I lost 4lbs the first week and I was thrilled. I have a couple of questions for those with more experience.
I know the book warns against using some of the alternative sweeteners but will using the sweeteners actually inhibit weight loss?
Does anyone have a recommendation for an energy boost drink in the morning? I'm trying to kick the coffee habit. I'm going to try one of the Lipton Tea's in the book but I'm not sure if that will give the boost I need.
Ummm..Shortribs! Sounds sooo good! It is cold up here in New England!! Brrr! I am happy to offer what has worked for me. Working out is a part of my life now and I have chosen to make working out a part of my lifestyle. I was a dancer back in high school and that was 20+ years ago. I was eating so poorly, I just never had the energy to workout and now that has changed. Tell me about little ones! My 6.5 year old just clicked the "COOL face"...But, we have a deal, she can come downstairs in the basement when I am working out, but I can't talk to her. I tell her it is "Mommy's time". When she is restless, I only choose 1/2 hour workouts in that case and Jari has some workouts broken up into 1/2 sets or I will do Mitch Gaylord's Perfect 10 which can be done in 10 minutes or I will do "Bum-Bum Rapido" from the Brazillain Butt workout. Or, I will workout while she is eating and my teenage son can keep an eye on her. When she goes to sleep, I usually can do a 45 minute workout at the end of the night.
Jumping rope! That is very cool! I have not done that in years! I will leave that to you "young folks". I love watching boxers do that fast jump roping..That is INSANE!
P90-X...that is HARD! You can do that??? Well, pat yourself on the back. Will you try INSANITY???
Thinking of ribs...I love my pork ribs!!! One of my best girls gave me this Cuban style pork recipe that she said would be perfect for "country style" cut ribs....Hmmmm. I don't think they will last long in my house! Especially on Superbowl Sunday!
Someone asked a question about the "banned sweeteners" from the diet. I don't use them 98% of the time. I did buy the Heinz ketchup and the last ingredient is sucralose. I don't eat ketchup much, but I use it and I have had no problem. I wanted to order the one he reccommended, but many of the products that he recommended from Carb Smart are not available right now. So, I said, Heinz ketchup here I come because I don't want ot just order one item and pay all that shipping..
Also, as far as energy drinks..I don't drink coffee so, I am not sure of a good replacement.

Hey Sistadiva!! I took the INSANITY challenge, and let me tell you, it was freaking insane!!!!
Minihaha --For energy drinks, hmm...ever try greens+ ? www.genuinehealth.com There products are by far the best AND all natural! They have greens+ energy, smoothies that u mix with water and all kinds of things that should be able to help those looking for an energy drink or a boost. Good luck giving up coffee, I did it for 3 weeks just to see if I could do it, and I could no problem, however I just like the taste of coffee so I drink it - knowing that I am not addicted!
Minihaha --- I use Stevia most of the time, however here on PEI (Canada, in general) we can't get any of his approved sweeteners other than stevia products, so I have used splenda a few times, I also drink alot of crystal light which is aspartame and I've lost 6 pounds in one week, so I am not too concerned. Plus I figure if thats how I am going to get my water into me, than fine!

SistaDiva its actually Numero1latino, I am a guy , I hope that is cool with everyone. I noticed that it mostly women in the forums. Ribs came out awesome. They were country ribs and I marinated them overnight in some Mojo. I actually backed out from using BBQ sauce even though I wanted it.
The snow kicked my butt these last few days from all the shoveling. My back is killing me. It was a great workout though and I was sweating like crazy. Steam was actually coming out of my sleeves when I took my gloves off.
Well you asked for it so I am going to do it....INSANITY that is. I was bored with the P90x and I have a friend that has a ton of these work out videos and he has the INSANITY so I am going to start asap. Not sure if this week or next because my back is killing me. I havent really been that hungry today, not sure if its the cold or what but thankfully I have had a decent amount of energy. Enjoy the superbowl everyone
I am so hopeful after reading your posts. I was also thrilled to see the Canadians here ... It will be a huge help to be able to share where we can get some products locally. While I agree that you don't have to purchase all the items he mentions, it can be really helpful when you're dying for something different.
I've ordered my BFC book today and will start as soon as I receive it. Until then, I'm going to start cutting down on my sugar intake and making healthier choices. I'd love to have the extra energy all of you are talking about.
Welcome Time2Bme!
Where in Canada are you from? Its nice to have other Canadian's here! I'll tell ya, if I could, I'd do my grocery shopping in the states and live here lol, but unfortunetly that isn't going to happen! However I have found some great substitutes at the local grocery store, but its not as easy as just whipping up his recipes in the book without the right ingrediants!
So far, I am loving the BFC, its simple and easy and tasty, except I really miss canteloupe and oranges!!! It's just not worth the S/C value!
Here's to a another great week everyone!! I'm weighing in tomorrow - hope its good! except, I had alot of sodium today, I feel its more than usual so we'll see!!
I am starting BFC tomorrow after doing 6 months on WW and having decent success. However, I really need to find a way to better manage my intake of sugar and refined carbs and this plans looks the most user-friendly of the low-carb plans out right now. Also, I wanted a meal plan that gave me energy to do my running and FIRM workouts and the miniscule amount I was eating on WW was leaving me hungry and lethargic.
I saw a Youtube Clip where Jorge was showing how you can eat out on BFC at major chain restaurants. For example, he said at McDonald's you can have the angus burger in a lettuce wrap instead of the bun and still be able to have a small serving of fries. Any diet that allows me to have my beloved fries is worth giving a try
I have been doing this diet for 5 weeks and have only lost 5 pounds. I am watching my carbs and sugars and limiting them to what the book says. It looks like it is working for lots of people on here. Has anybody had an experience like mine where they aren't losing much?

llama are you working out while on this diet? I only ask because when I was doing the P90x i wasn't losing weight on the scale but I did notice that I was losing fat. I think the added muscle made it seem that I wasn't losing weight. I guess the main objective of any of these programs is fat loss and not weight loss. That is how I see it. I wish there was an easy way to track fat loss. I have some of those calipers to measure fat but its never consistent

Greetings Ms. Nubiennelady!
That was what impressed me so much with this way of eating. I have lots of energy and I like to workout. No other diet has afforded me energy. I have done WWs in the past and I was always and I mean..ALWAYS hungry and lethargic. Now, I work out about 30 to 45 minutes daily doing Jari Love Ripped Series, the Firm, Brazilian Butt Lift and Melt it off with Mitch. I rotate them around....
Jari is my absolute favorite because she is no nonsense and very encouraging. I was "afraid" of the Ripped series, but the more energy I had the less taxing it has been on me. Plus, Jari is so encouraging with her workouts..tough but encouraging that there is never any dread factor. You will see results quickly by doing her three times a week. She is like a step up from the FIRM with simpler moves and many, many more reps, but she always offers a modification for beginners and advanced workouts.
I have been doing this diet for 5 weeks and have only lost 5 pounds. I am watching my carbs and sugars and limiting them to what the book says. It looks like it is working for lots of people on here. Has anybody had an experience like mine where they aren't losing much?
Greetings llama:
I have a few questions. How much are you trying to lose? Are you getting ALL of your water in? Have you kept a journal for what you have been eating for the past several weeks? Are you "active"? Are you spreading your carbs throughout the day or are you eating one large high carb meal a day?
I am constantly "mixing" my BFC diet up with how I eat my carbs. I am finding that "tricking" my body seems to keep things going well. Jorge has a really, really good plan, but everyone's body is different. On the weekends, I tend to eat more carbs for breakfast (sometimes half for the day) and in the evenings I have very little to make up my 120 for the day. Jorge mentions on page 324 to eat all of your carbs before 3 pm. If you are eating them all after 3 pm, that could be stalling your weightloss/slowing it down.
Also, make sure your carb servings are what they are supposed to be. I know I get "excited" around french fries and yes, I eat them several times a week. I always read and "re-read' what the package says..If 15 fries are considered a serving and that is 20 carbs..I make sure I stick with 15 fries. If I have 30, I know I have eaten two servings and I just stop myself. Personally, when I make a sandwich, I have a good amount of meat on there because protein keeps me/you full. There are so many low carb/high fiber tortilla wraps. I found one yesterday that is 13 grams of protein, 0 sugar and 11 carbs. It was at my local Shaws (like a Krogers or Stop and Shop) and I could not be happier!! With all that protein and fiber along with my smoked turkey, I can guarantee I will not be hungry for several hours. I shoot for foods that have a high fiber and protein content...Just read labels and try to get the most nutritional bang for your buck.
Also, I believe exercise is a good thing. It is not just about finding a good eating plan, but you want to have a good "health plan" and exercise is just good for you. Do you have to kill yourself and workout 60 minutes a day? Of course not! But, our bodies were meant to move. During the week, I average about 30 minutes a day mixing it up with toning, lifting and aerobics. Good tapes to start with are Leslie Sanson walking tapes.
