Hope you don't mind if i jump in here. Let me just say that I chose to go with flex plan because of peanut butter. I LOVE PEANUT BUTTER!!!! I was an LA Weightloss member, but i find the plan a bit rigid for me, so here i am.

I hope to make some new friends and to motivate and be motivated...

Way to go, Tanner's Mom! DH gets a box of chocolate covered cherries from someone every year for xmas. So, it didn't get opened right away, but then it did in the prior to the New Year restart, so tonight there were 3 left in there and he says do you want to do a ceremonial cherry chuck? (It's just woods across the road from us) I thought it was a great idea so I grabbed them (took them out of the box first) and went out on the porch and winged them across the road, it felt great!!

We're ready for our fresh start.

Hi I'm new here also. I'm so glad I found this thread. I did WW last yr for the 4th time in over 20 yrs. I did well on Flex then switched to Core. I lost 29 lbs. Then I made the huge mistake of not going to meetings! I put back on most of the weight I lost in about 4 months time. How frustrating. I decided in Oct. to join again. I am doing Flex because although I did well with Core and I still eat mostly Core foods-I NEED the "stability" of knowing I have to account with points in my diary and I do. I just feel differently about getting back in shape this time. It's not about a diet or weight so much as feeling good about myself at the age of 50 and knowing that what I have been doing to my body all these years is behind me. I can and will succeed this time. BTW I became a lifetimer back in the 80's when my children were small. Back then I only had about 20 to lose. Now I'm facing losing 50+ but I look at it in small steps. 5 pounds at a time is my goal and so far, I have been doing great.

Hi All, My name is Julie.. I am new to the WW Flex program..and I too need to point count and keep a diary so that I am taking control on what Im eating.. Im 26 yrs old with a 1 yr old and I work nights..so this is really challenging for me planning out points with such a tough schedule... I'm only 1 week into it so I havent had my first official weigh in yet. Im out to lose about 35 lbs so Im hoping WW works for me.. How have you all found the program?? Pretty regular weight loss? Do you feel it only works with exercise?? Just looking on getting some of your thoughts since most of u have been ding it a while. My sister in law has lost 85 lbs on flex and she's not even working out..I just cant believe that this program on points alone really guarantees loss??

First off Dusty, I'm with you, I was lifetime in the 90s and gained it back by not going to meetings, or I guess feeling "it won't happen to me, I'm cured". Now I'm back for a year and looking forward to getting to goal and maintaining.

And Julie, in my opinion you can lose weight without exercising, but you probably won't be able to maintain your loss. Believe it or not losing the weight is the easy part, it doesn't seem like it when you're doing it, but keeping it off is the challenge.

Hi everyone. I'm a veteran WWer -- lost about 30 pounds on it years and years ago (starting at a MUCH lower start weight than I am now) and then got cocky and thought I'd learned how to eat properly, and, over the intervening 20 years, have gained and gained and gained. My sins are not eating at regular times, not eating regular meals, and eating sweet snacks -- sodas, candy, cookies -- as meals.

I've joined and rejoined and tried on line and meetings, and never made it past the first three days, until last week. I rejoined last week online, and have found it very easy to stick to it this time. I chose a time when I was NOT stressed -- I have a work-at-home week until the second semester of school starts next week, and although I've been working constantly, I can still plan better, and stay on plan.

Well, I've not only lost weight, but, much more importantly, on day 4, I found I did not want the sodas and candy. It only took 3 days! I hope I can say this three months from now But for the first time in a long time I think I will be here three months from now.

Welcome to all the first-timers -- Julie, it does work. There's a lot to take on board. Many of us fail by trying to change everything at once, and many of us find, after many misstarts, that it's easier to work on one thing at a time. Maybe it's best for you to start to work on the eating plan first, and then add exercise. (That's what WW used to advise. They wouldn't even give you the exercise stuff until the 3rd week, as I remember it.) But stick with it, and it will work.

I switched my online account to the monthly one just now -- I've found I DO want to go to the meetings, and get the materials. It's a way to make myself stay connected.

Welcome to all the newbies!!

I had my first weigh in since joining. I lost .8 which is great considering what has been going on the last few weeks. I am feeling really good right now and ready to see an even bigger loss next week.

We talked about exercise at my meeting. WW does want you to exercise. It is your week two materials. Yes you can lose weight without exercising but that isn't the healiest. We all know that you are supposed to get out and move.

Good morning ladies,

Hope you don't mind if another new person hops in the thread. I'm going to my very first WW meeting tomorrow morning! I did WW online in 2004 and lost close to 30lbs... maintained it for about 8 months and then let it slowly creep back on over the next 3 years... those 30 lbs and 10 of their closest friends. I've moved away from my in-house support network (living with bfs in college) and am looking for the face-to-face support that a meeting will give. I have about 70lbs to lose total (I'm starting at around 215, and I don't think I want to get below 140, but then again, I've never once been 140 in my adult life so I have no idea how it feels!)... I don't have an end date in mind, as I'm not concerned with speed so much as taking it off without letting it come back!

That's about it by way of intro. I'm excited about my meeting tomorrow, though I hope it's not jammed with people since it's the first Saturday of a new year and such. Does anyone notice a difference in attendance at your meetings around now?

Congrats to all who are losing/maintaining, I hope to be there soon!

Hi all! Back again. Went back to my WW meeting FINALLY last nite after a month of missing meetings. It felt good. Got the new info. So far from what I've looked at the points finder/slider/thingy is a little different. Doesn't seem to be as much 0 points foods.
Welcome to everyone else who joined here yesterday too! I have a dumb/funny question for the day.... if we want to get rid of our weight once and for all, why do we say we want to "lose" weight? Isn't it true that if you lose something, you want to find it again? I think from now on instead of saying I "lost" X amount of pounds I will say I got rid of it or something to that affect because I DEFINITELY don't want to find it again or worse--have IT find me again LOL!!!!
Just thought maybe I could make someone smile )!!
Have a great day everyone!
Keepin' the faith...Dawn

Hi,

I'm glad to see all the chatting going on here. What a great support system! I need it today, since I seem to be craving sweets. I don't have any junk food in the house, thank goodness.

I've got yet another party to go to this weekend. It's a goodbye party for some friends. Ack! More food to deal with!

Have a good weekend.

Dusty, I like to say however many lbs. off or down, not lost either. Although, if I lost them in my spare bedroom I would probably never find them

I started my tracker over again this year for that reason, too. Those lbs. I lost last year are gone for good, I'm concentrating on getting these off.

Welcome to all the new people, hope everyone's here at the end of the year! Like they say at the meetings "hope to see less of you next week".

Hi there! Newbie here. I've never been on WW before and just started Wednesday. I've managed to make it through almost 3 days! Woohooo! I went into my first meeting bawling because I didn't think I could go even one day without sweets or staying on a "diet."

I chose the Flex Plan because I don't have to give up foods that I love. I just have to have them in moderation. I'm just praying that I can stay OP. I'm not very reliable with food, so currently it's day-by-day. I have no confidence about long-term YET.

I've been exercising religiously for about 4 yrs now plus I dance for three hours every Thursday night. I'm even going to start teaching the dance class next Thursday! However, I don't lose any weight. I finally admitted that the problem is what's going into my mouth!

I've only been within my optimum weight range one time in my life- in 1992- and only for a short period of time. I really hope I can do this and stay with it for a lifetime.

I have lots of hobbies. Horses are the forefront of my life, second is dancing and third is scrapbooking. I have no excuse to eat this much!

This seems to be a positive uplifting group. I'm looking forward to partaking in the discussions.
