I started off with the basic calorie counting, which made me cut some carbs and for sure sweets. Luckily I don't love sweets. Eventually I started eating some complex carbs again(sandwiches and pasta) but in very small amounts and not regularly. I lost about 80 lbs in a year and then I plateaued hard. I plateaued for a year and couldn't get out of it. It made me depressed and want to give up at times....especially when I started to gain weight again. Eventually, I decided to try alternate fasting and that also didn't help. I started a ketogenic way of eating in July and now my body is fat adapted. I am often not hungry, I eat much less but don't eat more than about 45g of carbs (so I get them mostly from leafy green veg). My workouts are the same. I am very active. I dance 3-4x/wk, play soccer 3-4x/wk (3 different teams), personal trainer 1x/wk, independent gym workouts 1-2x/wk, and do a cardio dance fitness 1-2x/wk. so yeah, I sometimes do 2-a-days. So its pretty easy to see how my year long plateau was frustrating.
