Default Help, plateau!!!!!

I have been doing the MRC diet from memory until a friend copied her papers for me because mine got lost. I started doing this in mid June and I have lost 14.5 pounds. I have been stuck in a plateau for a little over a week now and I am starting to feel unhappy!! I am going to Zumba 2x a week and I try to walk the dog inbetween. What is a good way to break this cycle and get back to losing weight?

Any help or ideas is appreciated!!!!

Actually, the timing of your plateau is about right. We all hit a plateau within the first 3-4 weeks (10-15lbs) of the diet. It's frustrating, but a totally natural event. Your body needs to get used to the changes before you can continue to lose weight.

If you're really frustrated and want to do something, try switching things up a bit--change your protein source (if you eat mostly chicken, switch to fish or bison fora couple days), and switch up your veggies (if you're eating mostly cooked, eat some raw veggies at least once a day for a few days).

There's also Meta-quick, which helps jump-start you from a stubborn plateau, but I would save that for when you've been plateaued for a while and have tried other things--partly because it isn't fun, and partly because you don't want to use up everything in your "bag of tricks" too early. Metaquick is simple: a bar for breakfast, a shake for lunch, (or vice versa) and a normal OP dinner (making sure to include HNSs with breakfast & lunch). Again, though, I would hold off on doing this until you absolutely have to.

Hope this helps!

junebaby, a lot of us notice inches coming off during a plateau. Take some measurements so you can see results when the scale isn't cooperating. I had a plateau last week, but my inches were shrinking and I noticed a big change in the fit of my clothes too.

I agree--at my one-month plateau I lost a lot of inches. It helps to up your water.
