So on the beige menu..I am suppose to eat 6 oz of protien and 8oz of veggies at every meal? That is ALOT of food. I have been eating less than what I should be (just got a food scale) and I am astound at how much food that is. That is WAY more than I can even stomach and I am affraid to eat that much. To me more food = more weight I'm putting on.
Does anyone have anything to share about that? I have actually gained 1lb since thursday. SO DISAPPOINTING. I am right on plan and over drink on my water.
What could be wrong? Could eating too little be the cause? Could really use some insight from any others...
thanks
Hmmmmmm, I don't know what the beige menu is but could you divide eat and eat 3 oz protein and 4 oz of veggies, just space the meals closer together?? I can't eat 3 big meals a day (I'd end of snacking on chocolate or something) I do much better eating 5-6 times a day, that way I get to eat all the time and I'm not hungry in between. Just a thought
Glammy,
How long have you been on program? The reason I ask is b/c is between days 7-10, almost everyone goes through a plateau or slight gain from water retention. They might have even given you a flyer on it. This is actually a good sign. Most of what you lose in the first week is water weight, and this is your body trying to keep your cells from collapsing.
As far as the food amounts go, yes, it's a lot of food at first, but you'll be happy to have it within a week or so. It took me a couple of weeks to get used to that much protein - just wanted to gag at the sight of another chicken breast! It got better and the more I lost, the less I was allowed. I now eat 3-4 oz servings of protein.
What helped me was eating the eggs/cheese in the morning and melted cheese on the cooked veggies a few times/week. The nutra bars are good if you're just not feeling like all of the bulk. 8oz salad is a LOT, but 4 oz of cooked veggies isn't a lot. I also picked heavier veggies like tomatoes and cucumbers to get the oz's in.
This is already a pretty restrictive diet, calories-wise, so it would be good to eat what you can. LostBombera's idea is a good one, but unfortunately, not allowed on MRC. If you want to follow MRC to the tee (I did and had great success), eat it all at one meal and have your HNS's for mid morning and mid afternoon snacks.
Good luck and ask any other questions you may have.
Thanks u haterhsweatpants! It's good to hear your side and I don't feel so by myself in this.
Did u start out on the beige menu? Eating 6oz protewn with 8oz veggies? I am just thinking putting in that much food has got to make me gain weight. I guess my thinking is the less u eat the less u weigh...I am just afraid of being let down.
I joined MRC on blac kFriday. So I guess I am one like day 10 of program or something.
What sorts of things do u eat? I'm tired of bland chicken lol. I love low sodium turkey meat tho lol.
I have put everything into this and the 1lb gain has got me doubting the program bc I have worked so hard been so good an I feel like my
Dreams of being skinny are just unreachable. Ahh!
Also...do u drink ur HNS with Ur breakfasst? Lunch an dinner?

Hi Glammy! It will get easier, I promise!
I am also on the beige menu, and it's 8 oz of raw veggies OR 4 oz cooked veggies. After realizing that 8oz raw salad is = to an entire bag of premade salad, I pretty much stopped eating much raw veggies. 4 oz of cooked veggies is waaaaay easier. I usually choose heavier veggies, too, like sauteed zucchini, or steamed green beans or broccoli.
I've also had to "mix it up" some in order to get all my protein/veggies in. 6 oz of chicken is a lot of meat! So, sometimes I will make a chicken & veggie soup (using the chicken boullion supplement), or I will hide my veggies in my "buffaloaf" (meatloaf) recipe I created (I posted it in the recipe thread of this board). The MRC Texas Chili recipe is really good, too. Basically, if you can find one or two recipes you like to kind of change it up from plain chicken once in a while, it helps.
Also, make sure you're getting all of your water in (64 oz minimum). It was really hard for me at first--and sometimes I still struggle to drink all my water--but it really does make a difference! And, my skin looks amazing these days--because of all the water I've been drinking. The beauty magazines are right--hydration really does help your skin.
hatesweatpants is right. This plan is pretty calorie restrictive (low carb, lean proteins) already, so if you don't eat all of what you're supposed to eat, then your body will think you're starving it--which actually slows weight loss. In this case, eating less does not equal more weight loss... sticking to the program does!

THIS IS SUCH GREAT FEEDBACK! It's so appreciated So you know the steam fresh vegggies that are frozen & you just pop them in the microwave for 5-6 mins. (Stupid question I know) but would that classify as them being cooked veggies? I'm sure that's an obvious answer, but I want to double & tripple check I am doing everything right, measuring out correctly. Because it is WAY WAY to easy to do something wrong and not even know it. You know?
I have a hard time finding things to cook. I have the cookbook, but I really only eat beef or chicken, and there aren't many beef recipes. So you think it's normal to have a 'stall' this early in the game? I just dont want to be getting my hopes up just to be at a stall for weigh in after weigh in. I work too hard to see no change. Guess my standards are just set high..
Thank yall for the feedback...it's great to hear, it really is.
Hi there,
Yes, it is completely NORMAL and EXPECTED to have a stall at this exact stage. Just keep doing what you're doing. If you go off now, you would have to start that process over again! You are still burning fat, just retaining water...no worries! You are working hard and it will pay off, believe me. I was where you are 8 months ago. I didn't think I could do it - but here I am! Keep at it! I started on the beige menu as well. I drank an HNS with b, l and dinner as well as mid morning and mid afternoon. They really help you to stay full-feeling (kinda! lol!).
Yes, the steamed veggies in a bag work and they are so great for a quick meal. Just weight everything (meat, etc) AFTER you cook it.
Thank you hatethesweatpants (Debie) and Teacherlady for all the suggestions. I too just went thru a stall for two weeks. As they both said, just keep doing what you are doing ... eating OP, drinking water, taking HSNs and exercising. I saw a 2 lb loss at my WI on Tuesday. I was so relieved. I am hoping for another loss at my Saturday WI.
I tried bisson this past weekend .. used sausage spices. Very good. What a wonderful alternative to chicken and fish. Not bad as breakfast either.
