Default Mmm Beer

I'd like to first say I don't SUGGEST doing this, but for me it has worked.

DH and I are both big beer lovers. We don't have alcohol in our home, but when we go out to eat, we enjoy having a good beer with our dinner (by good, I mean a microbrew of some sort). Eliminating alcohol on MRC has been tough, especially in social situations.

So, a week ago, I tried something. I was at an event and thought "what if I don't have my dinner carb, i.e. bread, beans etc, and instead have a light beer?" I gave it a try and had a portabello bison burger, steamed broccoli and a beer. And nothing happened. No weight gain, no 3 days to get back to ketosis, nothing.

So last night we had dinner out at Chili's and I decided to try it again. I had the grilled salmon, steamed broccoli, and a light beer. Same thing!

Now, I know that MRC won't approve this, and you also have to be strict and limit yourself to ONE beer and still eat the rest of your meal OP too, but I've found that it will definitely make some social situations a little more enjoyable for me!

I've also done some research and it seems to me the best beer to try if you're going to do this is Michelob Ultra. Low carbs, low sugars, and low cal.

I do that with wine sometimes. Leave off the bread at dinner and have a glass of wine instead.
