Question Meta Quick Questions

Hey guys,

Since I have been on program for the last month and am still somewhat in a plateau, my center recommended that I go on Meta Quick for a week out of every month. The lady said that the "make-it-yourself" shake was more filling, so I bought one of those and only one of the pre-made shakes. Turns out I LOVE the pre-made, which tastes just like chocolate milk, and am wondering what happened to the make-it-myself ones. I had it for the first time at lunch today and I hate the texture and powdery taste to it, but I'm stuck with them now. Has anyone else experienced this problem? How can you make them taste better??

Thanks in advance!

First of all, I love the Meta-Quick menu! Actually, I just came off this past Sunday. And I usually do the this menu once a month for 7 days.

The lady that told you that the "make-it-yourself" shake was more fillling was absolutely correct. They are far more filling than the pre-made shakes because you can control the thickness and amount of liquid you use. Here's how I make mine:

-a blender
-lots of ice cubes
-10 oz of water (for the chocolate) and 10 oz of A&W diet root beer or orange Diet Rite (for the vanilla)

The A&W makes the shake taste like a root beer float and the orange Diet Rite takes like the creamsicles. My shakes are so delicious and I stay fuller longer on the shakes than I do on the green menu. I love these shakes so much! It's the best part of the program for me. I wish it were the entire program.

Those pre-made ones are too thin and runny. Plus the vanilla is too sweet.

BTW, don't be discouraged if you don't lose a lot on this menu. I tend to lose more the week after.

Let me know how your results.

Thanks! I'll try preparing it like you suggested. I followed the instructions on the box and it made this grainy, goupy mess haha.

What is the MetaQuick menu? I have been on the plan for about 3 weeks. Do you drink shakes for all your meals? Just curious if it is something I might want to try.

I've been on plan 4 weeks tomorrow and am down 11.5 pounds which doesn't feel quick enough for me. My average has been going down down down and is now 2.3lbs/week. So i'm going to do my first meta quick starting on Sunday!

I was wondering if anyone had some "after meta quick" notes to confirm if it actually helps? Or any other tips?

Thanks!

Metaquick is a shake or meal replacement bar for breakfast and lunch, and then dinner (limited protein choices -- chicken/fish, veggies). It never worked for me, but I use it sometimes for convenience. While I don't lose, I have always maintained while on it. Some people have great luck on it, but I know more who didn't lose at all. Usually the week following Metaquick, my body goes back to its normal losing -- 2 pounds or so a week. Everyone's body chemistry is different, so we all respond differently to different things. You should try it and see if you like it.

I put the mix, 2 cups of water and 10 ice cubes into my blender and blend it up. Yes...it's still kinda gritty, but I really like it and totally more filling than a bar or a pre-made shake. If I was doing meta-quick (and I never have in all my time with MRC) I'd drink the shake mixes for sure. Good luck!

There are so many things you can do to help make the blended shake more tolerable. First of all, blend it several hours ahead if you can, and blend it for at least 30 seconds -- I've found that the 'waiting period' actually makes the grittiness go away. I really doctor mine up with different flavors. I've added a heaping teaspoon of instant coffee to the chocolate (with some chocolate extract and a packet of Splenda). To the vanilla, I've actually added my HNS -- the strawberry/banana gelatin or orange are my favorites, the latter tasting like an Orange Julius.

And yes, the Meta Quick menu really works. I've done it twice while on program and lost 4 pounds after 4 days on it the first time, 2.5 pounds after 2 days just last week.

Good luck!

When doing Meta Quick I mix a HNS, ice, meal replacement shake (power), and a diet rite, put in blender and it is very yummy. When not on Meta Quick, for lunch I will put 2-3 oz of cottage cheese in the meal replacement shake with ice, water and an HNS.

Thanks for the tip! I'm 2 days into my meta-quick and have just had the chocolate mixes so far. It's amazing the difference the blender makes though! At my house I used the whip setting and it was like drinking liquid mousse, soo smooth. But at my boyfriends house he has a different blender and it was more gritty. Thanks for the tips everyone! I hope this is a quick way to up my average!

I was just looking on Diet Direct for some of the meal replacement bars. They have Wonderslim - meal replacement & protein snack bars, Bariwise -crispy & diet bars, Protidiet - protein, crunchy & high fiber. Which would be the best MRC substitutes ? Some seem to have more sugar and others higher carbs. What is the group's thoughts on them?
