I finished week 3 yesterday and believe it or not - I felt like I was ready to run longer! That gives me hope for week 4. I think I'm finally ready to do a 5 minute - I know it probably sounds wimpy since you all are so far ahead of me - but I'm super excited. I'm really seeing good muscle tone now too.

Im right there with ya! I just finished week three as well. I bumped up my run from 4.0 to 4.5 on day 3 of week 3 and did fine for the first few intervals but the last one I had to go back to 4.0. btw, it doesn't sound wimpy..they were here where we are now...and someday we will all be "runners" :D

A girl from work asked me if I was going to run in the 5K run at her church in March. I said yes, so now I need ti get up amd start walking at least, lol. I did it last year but I walked the entire thing. I have driven and gotten the distances for my walking/jogging.

That sounds great - go for it!!

I did week 4 day 1 this morning. Oh my goodness - I thought I would die. I wasn't paying attention to the intro, so I wasn't sure what the routine was today. There wasn't much rest after the 3 to the 5 min run. When I finished the 2nd 3 minute run, I thought I was done based on the time. I about died when he said, ok, now let's do your last 5 minute run. I truly had to pull every ounce of strength and endurance and stubborness to not stop. I even got a little light headed at the end. But I DID IT! The first 3 minutes I did at 6mph, but I did have to kick it down to 5.8mph - which is still good considering. It added an extra mile to my routine from last week!!! I can't even wrap my head around next week's 20 minute run. Hopefully, I will be stronger by Friday :D I'm really starting to feel like a runner!!!

You are doing great, Gina! I am impressed with your speed. I think you'll do just fine next week :)

Hey ladies. How is everyone doing with the C25K? I haven't been to the gym since Friday (almost 2 weeks ago). I'm going today to run again, but I'm not really sure for how long. I'll just have to see how I feel. I hope you're all doing great!

My week has been so crazy that I only did c25k once. I know I won't have time the rest of the week either...so it looks like I will just repeat week 4 next week. My kids are getting new furniture so I have been deep cleaning their rooms, moving out all the old furniture, packing up a lot of things (we may be moving in the next year) I spent all day removing wallpaper. So I did get plenty of exercise this week!! I am so exhausted! I am painting all weekend and Monday the new furniture arrives!

Sounds like you've been getting enough exercise without the treadmill!!:)

Well, I did week 6 day 3 today. I was really dreading it for some reason. I did the 20 min. run last week without any problem but I wasn't looking forward to today's 25 min. run. It was hard, but I got through it. From here on out it is just plain ole running...no more walking breaks in the middle. :( Good luck to everyone with their runs this weekend!

I'm improving, too, on my "modified" C25K. Because of my knee injury, I just picked up somewhere in the middle, but I ended the week running 20 minutes (little over 2 miles) at 6.2 mph, walking for 5 minutes, then running 10 minutes (little over 1 mile)at 6.2 mph.

My trainer says I should make it to running 3 miles straight within two weeks. That's kind of exciting. I'm going to try to reproduce this last run on day 1 of next week (unless I just feel fabulous for some reason and think I can do a 25 minute run-- we'll see) and then go up maybe on the second day.

I'm not going to lie-- toward the end of each running segment, it starts to get a bit painful-- lungs hurt, etc.

Maybe I'm pushing it too fast, but it is nice to have a goal, and I'm only running 2-3 days a week and doing the elliptical for the rest. The weight workouts as well as the knee injury are keeping me from doing the high-impact runs all the time. I don't mind it, though, because I still don't really like running, but I kind of want to prove something to myself now. I have NEVER been able to run 2 miles straight before-- not even as a teenager. So, I've already beaten my personal record. :)

Are you feeling like a real athlete yet? Your speed is fantastic--you're going to feel like such a rock star when you meet your next goal of 3 miles. I think the personal challenge of C25K is the most rewarding part.

Hey ladies - how is everyone doing on the C25k?? We are officially into February - a time where most people drop out. I completed Week 5 day 1 today. Last friday I was on fire! I was so pumped at the end of the 5 min run that I added an extra 2.5 minutes - and was able to increase speed back to 6mph. At the beginning of the week, I didn't think there was anyway I could do it - I actually got dizzy at the end and had to put the speed to 5.5mph. What a difference a few days and a new play list makes!!

I thought week 5, day 1 would be too easy after last weeks schedule. I actually found it challenging though (run 5, walk 3 cycle). Maybe it was the lack of sleep or just being a Monday. Then I did something silly today - I signed up for the Sweetheart 5k run/walk at our base gym - it's this Saturday - will be the day after I do the 20 min run. I don't know what I was thinking!!! But, it's a run/walk and I figured it would be fun to try! Just hope I'm not pushing myself too fast. I initially said no when someone asked me to do it. I knew I wouldn't be far enough along in my schedule. Who knows, maybe I'll be able to complete it. I'm always up for a good challenge - I'll let you know how it goes. What I really want is a t-shirt, hope they have them!!

Do the 5k with me this Saturday at the base gym!!! That would be so fun to run together! I'm two weeks behind you on the schedule, so I'm a little scared :)

That sounds like fun! You'll have to PM the info to me. I just got online yesterday to look for 5K's coming up but didn't find anything. There is a run to the top of either Woodmen or the 1st Nat'l tower coming up soon but I wasn't really interested in doing stairs. Don't think my knees could take it. My boys both have basketball games this weekend so it will depend on the times but I'm game if you are :) We can be scared together!
