Welll i will ge one on ASAP! MMMMMMM thereit is. i do not make a good cup so one of you chicks may need to make a real good pot. Sorry this is strong enough to wake even ME!
Today I have so much going on. My friend got 2 horses last week, but she has been needing to take them out at the same time as they get used to being on the farm and all the machinery. so... she told me that today i need to go for a ride with her, i said fine (like i have ridden before??) and then she said we will spend a day riding????. I don't think so! i have not ridden a horse in almost 6 years and then that was only 1 hour and not for 20 years before that!!! I am not going to do well with this. I may not be able to leave the puter tomorow as i will not be able to walk. we i may not be able to get to the puter tomorow as i may not be able to sit!!!!!
Gorgeous morning but cold here. Just right for a brisk ride on a horse you've never met, Sue. My butt and leg muscles are aching at the memory.
Am going to do a bit of the Big Domestic and then we three are off to the Turkey Fair in the next village. No turkeys there (except a few human ones) but a sort of village festival - crafts, quilts, displays and a parade. Have a monstrous chicken for dinner just in case we invite someone back. It's 8 pounds which is really small turkey size!
Good cold and frosty morning Chickies! At least it is here. I have tog et out innot my garden today and survey the damage. I know that some of my plants are surely killed off, but it is the time, so I won't cry about it. That was on my agenda for the weekend--get myself inot my garden and get ready for fall bulb planting. I have to remove the hedge in front of my house and that is going to be a monumental task on it's own!
I have almost completed Miree's room--was working on it at 10:30 last night. Just a few more finishing touches and then I am ready for the matte finish spray laquer to protect all of our beautiful artwork. Then it's cleaning the carpet and installing the border and we're done! My neighbour's daughter has got her camera ready--I think we are all going to sign it somewhere because it really is beautiful!
I was thinking of taking Miree to the Bracebridge Fall Fair that's happening this weekend--today there is a junior pet show and I wanted to show her all the animals. I'm trying to convince dh to go because it will be a lot of fun, but he's not feeling too good. I think it's all in his head becasue he seems fine enough to me, just grumpy. Miree is 110% better, back to her old self in fact. I suspect it was something she ate. We had eaten at that restaurant many times before and ate the same food and nothing bothered her so it might have been something that was left undercooked. My neighbour's have been really nice throughout it and there's barely a smell left since I took the Febreeze to it!
So I've babbled on long enough, now it's time to get down to to business. I am recommitting myself to my plan and dragging my dh into it as well. Normal life continues in this house, do the same for yourselves! Love ya chicks!
It's cold and rainy here too. I made a batch of LindaBC's muffins this morning, so my kitchen smelled cinnamony and nice. Really good with that strong coffee!
Sue - You gotta make that horse think you know what you're doing. Pretend you're in an episode of Bonanza or something. I swear they know when it's a rookie up there!
I too am going to go on a house cleaning frenzy this morning. My new couches arrived yesterday, so I have the old ones and the new ones sitting in the living room. Just a little too much seating space for my liking! Of course, I can't put the ones in place without doing a thorough cleaning. Boy, are my kids going to love me today!
Here's my plan to return to a normal life and have some fun. I race a vintage car (a Lotus Seven, for those of you who care) and tomorrow is the annual British conclave. My husband, kids and I will get to go and salivate, compare and appreciate all kinds of great old cars and spend some fun time together while we do it. The only hard part will be when the bagpipers play Amazing Grace, because I'll probably start crying.
The coffee was SO good, but I love it strong! I had spam and eggs for breakfast and for the first time ever my 4 year wanted some too. She detests eggs with a passion.
My first stop this morning was to the bathroom scale....down 2.5 pounds! It was a great relief as it's been a long and arduous week!
The weekend is going to be spent making final preparations for a 50th Anniversary Party that my aunt and uncle are having! It seems more than fitting to finally have something to celebrate!
I hope everyone has a great weekend. The sun is warm and shiny here. Wish I could bottle it.
Got up early this morning, had coffee and read the paper while DD slept in til 0830. Took her for her FIRST haircut (she is 2) she was not impressed until they gave her a lollipop..yes a lollipop at 0900 in the morning!! Oh well, just this once won't hurt her. Then we went to the Farmers Market and got some gorgeous veggies and some flowers. THen off to the grocery store for the necessities. We came home and had some lunch and planted a red white and blue garden with Mums and pansies, it is quite beautiful it I do say so myself. We both got wet and filthy and had a fabulous time. The darling one is snoozing now and I am going to pay bills always a fun task.
Tonite we are going to go to the dollar store and see what they have...and to my favorite place Target..I just realized the poor little tike has no warm clothes.
It has been a specatularly gorgeous day here in East TN today, it is about 75, sunny with a breeze.
I'm always grumpy until my big Saturday morning paper with the NY TImes Crossword puzzle arrives. I thought it was late this a.m. so I was quite crotchety until I realized that the automatic sprinklers had been on at the usual delivery time and darned if the paper gal hadn't left the paper out on the driveway. Grump grump grump. Now I'm having trouble with the puzzle so more grumpies. LOL
Another gorgeous day here in the Fraser Valley. Can't last much longer though. I really should be in the garden cleaning up the veggie patch. I just know there are cukes lurking there, probably the size of dirigibles by now, and the pole beans just never quit. Time to pull out the green peas which have become all mildewy because of the early morning fogs we get this time of year. The perennial beds are looking really pretty and the annuals in the planters at the front of the house are at their very best right now. What a riot of color with the different shades of double Impatience and begonias interspersed with the vibrant blue lobelia and the purple spikes of annual veronica. But, I had to pull all the pansies out of my window boxes. They just get too dry under the eaves and then get very droopy. Oh well, I'll figure out something that will do well there eventually.
Trying to get the house and home office ready for my two weeks away. Supposed to leave this Thursday and continue to hope that flights to Europe will be back to normal by then. I've been checking the airline's website and they said that a flight similar to mine that should have left on the 13th has been postponed until tomorrow (Sunday) so that's not too bad.
It sounds as if everyone is trying hard to get their lives back to normal. Thank goodness we have this place like a port in the storm.
Well horse back riding was not to bad. I have not been on one is too many years i was getting to be afraid of hights!!! but it was better till she tried to get on hers and it was spooked by a chain under its chin it was to lose and then it reared and bucked and she went flying and i just sat there going OMG!!!! then she tried again and the bridel was spooking it again so she got off and then i rode ALONE around the field. well once alone was enough for me!!! now it is time to clean and get started to lok like i do clean my house once in a while!!!
I know that it is usually done in the morning but well i had other things to do!!! so it is this evening!!!
Chickadee do you realy RACE??? isn't that scary?
Linda i will be praying for you that the trip wil be safe!
Scooby it sounds like you had a great day with your kid! love those days!!
The frost is on the pumpkin - or rather on the spaghetti squash this morning. At least this cool weather makes me more anxious to walk in the morning. Hershey and I went to the Lower Lake - looked lovely with the mist on the water and the trees on the islands starting to turn.
We have a memorial Church service at 8:45 this a.m. - another Kleenex service. I did manage to find red, white and blue flowers for the Church - a neighbour had some late blue delphiniums and I've scrounged white mums and red monarda from my own garden. I do hope we can get some closure to at least part of this grief soon.
Did not make it to the Turkey Fair yesterday after all. I ended up with the runs - doing the Turkey Trots instead, I guess. All better today. Forgive me but... shits that pass in the night? Sorry - I'm getting the sillies again.
Working a Bingo again tonight so will have a late night but see you chickies tomorrow morning.
Good Sunday morning all....hope you all have something fun planned. It is sunny and chilly here this morning, it is almost fireplace weather...!!!
DD decided to sleep with me last night, that was not fun and alas, I am tired today. DH and DS will be home late this afternoon or evening. My darling little boy does not want to come home, he told me this morning he wants to stay for sixty days at his Aunt and Uncle's he is a hoot.
Don't have much planned for today. DD is so good at amusing herself I may just sit on the couch and read a book.
While I am otherwise not much in the mood for posting, as a mental health professional, I had to come out of lurkdom to express my concern for Ruth, who seems to have Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder that is effecting her funny bone.
Good afternoon, I have posted a photo gallery to see Miree's bedroom now that is all done (more or less) I was never so happy as to have her bed set up, and ready to go for her fist nap in her new room!
I am going to grab some lunch and then head out to the garden--my second promise to myself this weekend! Take care!
I've been trying to take care of some of my garden produce today. PIcked all my Asian Pears (or apple-pears). They're a strange fruit and I wonder why they cost so much in the stores, each wrapped in it's own little spongy wrapper. Mine are crispy and juicy but they really don't have much flavor..neither an apple or a pear but an anemica combination of the two. I only had about a dozen as it's a young tree so I peeled them, sliced them and have cooked them up with some lemon and cinnamon. See if DH will eat them for his dessert with ice cream. That man always has to have some kind of dessert and he refuses to eat anything I buy with the exception of donuts.
I had some overgrown cukes, which I have made into DH's favorite cuke salad made with thinly sliced cukes and onions with a sauce of combined sour cream and mayo with dill seasoning. The secret to keep it from being water is to salt the cuke slices well and let them drain before mixing in the dressing. I had enough little cukes to make one jar of dill pickles to add to the other six I made last week.
I pulled out my row of peas and shelled the few remaining pods. I'm afraid mildew is doing its number on them but the beans are still coming on strong, the onions are ready to be pulled and we're still enjoying swiss chard and beet tops. Beet bottoms are quite puny this year though.
I had three fair-sized red cabbages ready to pick so I shredded them up and made DH's favorite German style red cabbage. Not my favorite thing so I freeze it in zip-lock bags and bring it out as needed.
I've been shortening and taking in pants (love it when I have to take in stuff...it's been a long time) and trying to get my stuff ready for my trip on Thursday....at least I hope it will be Thursday. Not going to let myself be nervous.
Talk to you tomorrow.
