Good Monday Morning, everyone! Still hot and steamy here today. And to think I was planning to put away the summer clothes today!
Did not do much yesterday. If I start the day in a lazy way, I never seem to get geared up.
Was so nice NOT to go to the Syrup Festival Meeting last night. I have resigned from that Committee to give myself a break and get some new blood on it. Unfortunately the Chair is a one-man-show type and difficult to work with. I will still find and schedule volunteers for the event but see no need to go to monthly meetings for something that happens the 3rd week of April!
My weight is UP this a.m. - probably due to the heat AND having a bun with my burger last night. I plan my menues but little adjustments keep happening. Anyhow, water water water today.
Tackling more tomatoes this morning and then a quick trip to Wal-Mart to exchange a pair of slacks I bought two weeks ago without trying them on! Just might find something else of interest.
Kind of muggy here, too. I don't want to get dressed and leave...
Remember the thread where we posted what we were wearing when on the computer? Nightgowns, sweats, and tshirts were most common- I am in the t shirt I slept in, and am about to get into the shower. The hair is quite a sight! Very pretty, very pretty!
Have a meeting tonight, so I'll be home late. More importantly, I have to do 2 meals out today. I'm bringing some tuna salad for lunch, and will go out for a burger for dinner. Not very inspiring, I'm afraid.
Ruth, remember the first few days on less salad and fiber you may weight "heavier" from... you know, (clue) LESS FIBER...that's always a pound or 2 for me.
We will be having a pleasant day in the 70's today. We had rain almost all day yesterday, and took advantage of it, by being lazy. First I got up at 7:00 and took Kudo out for a walk. Then I watched a movie and then the boys got up, so I went back to bed with DH and we slept in till noon! Boys did not bother us or beg for breakfast. I certainly do not plan on making this a habit, but boy it is nice once in a while.
Love all the challenges we have going here, it is truly motiviational!
Good Morning Ruth, Dottie, Jenny and all those to come
Just dropped off dh at work and dd at preschool so I have the morning to clean the house. I spent the whole weekend painting dd's room--not quite done yet becaasue i really need the help of my neighbour's daughter to do the fine lines and finish up one of Ariel's sisters. I also need her to finish the hands--hands are really hard to paint don't ya know?! She has promised me this weekend for sure it will all be done. It's hard to pin her down because she's a college student and she usually has a ton of homework to do. Trust me, my friends, it will all be worth the wait!
Gotta run and throw a load in the washer--have a great Op day everyone!
Ohh..Dh just told me how I can give you guys a sneak preview of dd's room. I have one wall finished so I took a snap with the digital camera and downloaded it--here it is, a little something to keep you going before the grand unveiling!
Do you take orders? We are really not THAT far away from each other. You could sleep over. I'll feed you good stuff. Miree can play with Hershey.
What a wonderful project!
Oh Pooky, it's beautiful! I love doing stuff like that, but my kids would have a cow because they're so "cool" now!
My son's car got broken into yesterday while he was at work. He's just devastated. The stupid thieves took his stereo, all of his cds, and his backpack, which held all of his school stuff (notes, assignments, everything), including the $115 calculator he was required to have! He called me from Target where he works in tears. The cops don't even come out for crimes like this. They were supposed to call last night, but didn't bother. I'm so mad! There's a slim chance Target's surveillance camera got it on tape, but I'm not holding my breath. The dumb thing is he usually takes off the face plate and locks everything in the trunk, but he was only going to be half an hour or so, so he figured it would be all right. Poor guy. I just want to make it all better, but I can't.
I've been having a tough time with breakfast lately so I went to the recipe threads and printed out all kinds of stuff (actually for other meals too). You guys sure are good cooks! I'm going to try Debkays Cheeseburger Soup for lunch and I have a batch of LindaBC's muffins in the oven right now. I hope I like them! Tomorrow I'm going to try DDaves Asparagus Quiche (where is she anyway?). I'm also looking forward to Kieri's feta chicken and teriyaki-mustard chicken. See what a little surfing and a trip to the grocery store can do? Thanks for sharing chicks!
Chick- that is terrible about your son's car. Don't you wish you could protect them always for the evils of the world. I am in no hurry for my babies to grow up!
Pooky the room is gorgeous, we are putting an addition on our house that includes a bedroom for DD, your are giving me great ideas!!
I am at work, I just enjoyed a delicious salad with baked chicken...would you believe I forgot to eat breakfast! I did not even miss it. I forgot to eat...I FORGOT TO EAT! THis has never happened before!!!
Miree's room wall looks so wonderful! I painted the hundred acre woods on my Darren's walls. I added Pooh characters made out of plywood. Lucky thing I did, he has removed all Pooh toys and pictures from his room. At 6, he is way to old for Winnie the Pooh, but I still am a fan.
What kind of paints did you use, acrylics?
Chickadee so sorry about your ds, that would just break my heart.
Thanks for the kudos everyone! I used acrylic craft paint that you can buy at Walmart. I took the pictures from the internet and my neighbour's daughter drew them on and I painted them in. The room isn't done yet, I still have some more finishing touches to do but then it will be gorgeous! Linda, thanks for the idea about the bubbles on the drapes, I'm also going to get a hanging lamp and cover it with same fabric!
Jenny, the Hundred Acre woods sound so cute! Too bad they grow out of it so fast.....
Your poor son Chickadee, hard to watch it all happen, isn't it? And what a hard lesson to learn--never leave valuables in the car, or anything in the car for that matter. I hope the insurance company will replace everything for him.
And Ruth? You never know, I might just come and land on your doorstep, two year old in hand!
It's a lovely day in Houston. I even have the doors and windows open!
Pooky~That is just adorable! And with the bubble curtains! Bet Miree is excited!
Ruth~~Want a nice cold glass of my "poo-poo" tea?
Dottie~~I remember that thread! It was fun! I often remember it sitting here in my pj's and bed head with the fear that DS might've stuck the video cam nearby!
Scooby~~Doesn't it feel great to lose weight and not feel hungry? Have a S-U-C-C-E-S-S ful day!!
Chick~~That's horrible about your DS's car! And in such a short amount of time! Makes you wonder if someone was watching him! Did you spot Lil's quiche recipe down there? I'd forgotten about it till you mentioned Debra's.
Jenny~~Your Sunday sounds wonderful! Nice that you had some relax time with the schedule you keep!
Tippy~~ Always so nice to see you!
I have to admit chicks, I've had a weekend from **ll !! I'm still debating whether to post any of it. In setting my SUCCESS goals, I've realized that I hold so much inside that I am kicking myself right into Karb H*LL !! At the same time, teens can send you there quite easily carb addict or not. But I am sincerely going to deal with this and keep moving forward.
Today was an UNscheduled trip to the courthouse with DS. A bit of fly lady stuff (my house is always a disaster after the weekend !) and some me time tonight.
Hope everyone has a great day!
It's taken me so long to post this that if I've missed anyone
Another gorgeous day here on the Wet Coast.
I went for my swim this morning and managed to get a few lengths in before going back to my usual paddling about with mouth flapping as I chat with pals there.
Came home and did an hour in the garden before it got too warm.
Still so thrilled that I was able to tie my own shoes. That's quite a milestone for me.
Pooky, your baby's bedroom walls are a delight. You've done a marvelous job. Gosh, I never had nothin' like that when I was a kid. Sheesh! Of course, neither did my girls. LOL
Oh MamaJ, I wish I could give you a big hug. You are having a time of it, aren't you? Having been there and done that with my older daughter, you have my total sympathy. I once got a long-distance phone call at 3 am from older daughter (now 35 and mother of a teen herself, hehehehe ) She and a girlfriend were being held in jail about 500 miles from us where they'd hitch-hiked and had been caught shoplifting. They were stuck in that jail for four days because there was a blizzard and the circuit judge couldn't get to the small town they were in. WHen she phoned I told her I hoped she enjoyed her stay at gov't expense and that she'd learned something from the experience. No way was I going to make the trip in a blizzard. Of course, first I asked if they were being treated ok and she had no complaints other than being confined. Served them right, I say.
Chicadee, that is so tough about your son's car. It's hard to see them suffer but life can be cruel and I guess we all have to learn the hard way. Poor fellow. Hope the insurance covers it. Hope you like the muffins. I found them very filling. Can't have them now on WW, darn it.
Well, I'm off to hunt for a new pair of walking shoes. Now that I can tie my own laces (with a great deal of effort) I can go for the regular instead of the velcro closed ones. Yippeee!
