Gee, Nasus, I must have been at the wrong shopping centre last night. I hope you have thawed out!
Not much going on around here this weekend - and I'm glad. There has been a constant stream of visitors and phone calls this week so I'm hoping for an anti-social weekend - except for Church.
I plan to sit at the kitchen table this morning with a coffee and work out meal plans for the next few weeks. This coming week is my last semi-free week before rehearsals start every night on the 25th. I'll need made ahead or easy dinners to cut back on some of the stress. I need a cook!
Good morning Ruthxxx and all else to come........ gee, it's a balmy 15 or 20 degrees outside!! No coffee? Oh well, dh made a pot and you are welcome to join me - it's hot, strong and leaded!
I haven't made it in here for a couple of days -- the deep freeze on Thursday, together with the snow (not a tremendous amount, only about 6 inches) created havoc on Long Island - it took me almost 4 hours to get to work Thursday morning, and by the time I got home, I barely ate dinner and went to bed; yesterday wasn't a whole lot better, but hopefully, this coming week will be an easier one..... The one thing that's going ok is my eating - 9 days OP and counting...... except perhaps I'm not eating enough, the scale doesn't seem to be doing anything, but I won't panic just yet; I AM trying to prepare meals in advance so that when I get home at 7:45 or 8pm I don't have to think about what I'm gonna start cooking -
Tonight will be a challenge - going to a surprise birthday party: it is a covered dish party, and the people we are going with are bringing something called Spaghetti Pie (and boyohboy can they ever cook!!!) - I'm going to make vegetarian chow mein (a little high in carbs cause of lots of onion) and try to restrict my portion - hmmmmm, maybe I'll eat supper before I go, whadyathink? anyone have any ideas to help me get thru this first hurdle?
Ruth, good luck with "**** week" - it is such an overwhelming time, but lots of fun, too, so just plain enjoy yourself!
Well, gonna go get the day started - have a good one everybody
Grey day again and cold (ok, so it's not really cold compared to most of you guys out there but it's cold for us!) so I don't think I will do any sprucing up outside. I'll just concentrate on the inside. The kids' grandfather and stepgrandmother (SH's dad) are coming for a visit tomorrow afternoon and will take us to dinner. Of course, that means that I need to get this house in shipshape.
Who has Monday off? No school and the guy I work with (for?), CPA Mike I'll call him, is taking the day off too so YA! I get 3 days this weekend.
The boys are hauling some wood for their father and then having lunch with him today. They weren't too happy about it. I mean, this is their 1st visitation with him and he is using them as free labor? *shaking head & rolling eyes*
Ruth - I will be joining you in checking out my recipes for easy meal plans this weekend. That is something I just HAVE to get more organized with as me working everyday makes it difficult. How is the 'learning of lines' going? Sure would like to see you in VM - that would be a kick!
Sono - 4 hours to get to work??? OMG - that is horrible! I hope you get a big thaw and things will be better next week. If you are worried about it you should probably eat healthy before you go tonight - then if there is something you just GOTTA try you can get just a taste and not go overboard. Have fun, tho - I think any of us should EVER pass up an oppertunity to have a bit of fun! Life is too short!
Ok - gotta run. 1:40 here and I haven't eaten anything all day. I better go grab something healthy or I'LL go overboard on some junk!
I'm here kinda late myself though. I had to make a run to Future Shop this morning to exchange a gizmo that I bought with my new computer yesterday. Supposed to help transfer files from old to new but it didn't work. God that place drives me nuts. There were at least 10 employees wandering around looking lost but only two were actually working at the exchange counter. The poor young woman in front of me in line had a 3 year old clinging to the side of her cart and a 16 mo. old whining in the carrier seat. We had a nice conversation for a while but then she snapped and said very loud, "I've been waiting here for 20 minutes and my kids are going nuts and soon I'm going nuts, so how about some service". That got their attention and she got served but I still had to wait another 15 minutes and I was second in line. I was told they were sorry, but they only had three computers at the exchange desk. I said "You have a store FULL of computers. Why don't you hook some of them up?" I hate that place. They have music just blaring so you can't hear what a customer service rep is telling you anyhow.
Anyhow, yesterday was taken up with buying the new computer with my guru friend, and then then getting it set up on a table next to this old one. Hopefully, she will show up tomorrow or Monday to help me actually transfer programs and files or I'm SOOL.
Still sticking with Atkins '72 but the scale isn't budging. Last Monday it dropped down into the 260s for the first time in years but went right back up and has stuck around 271/272 the rest of the week. I've been adding 5 gr carbs to Induction this week in the form of the original Atkins Cottage Cheese Cheesecake (Illegal But Not Immoral Or Fattening). The Ketostix went from pale pink to beige almost instantly. LOL I'm not even taking cold meds anymore so that can't be the problem. Go figure. I'm one of those people who can't have ANY carbs except salad I guess. What a pain!
I wont even get into how mild our temps have been this past week here on the Wet Coast.
Okay, today was a nice quite day. Got a lot done at work, then spent the afternoon resting. Not stresses, so my eating is much better today. I went to the store an bought some really neat stuff for dinners next week. I agree with the rest of you, it much easier if you have your meals planned.
Well I was just passing time until GS and his daddy DS#1 got here, and I hear them driving up.
I'm getting here kind of late tonight. I've had a pretty good day today. I got to sleep until 7:00. That's late for me. DH worked 11-7 last night and had to make a short turnaround and go in at 3:00 this afternoon. I don't know how he does it. Thank goodness he only has 18 months until retirement.
I made stuffed peppers for dinner today for me. DH didn't want stuffed peppers so I made him turkey meatloaf, instead. The peppers I got were huge! I took one over to dad later in the day.
I found a good SF FF yogurt at HyVee last week. It's called Lite 85, I think. The vanilla pear is so good. The other flavors are, too, but I really like the pear one.
I weighed this morning and I am finally back to my low weight (before my Christmas Holiday blowout). 293. I hope it isn't just a one-day thing. I seem to have been gaining and losing the same 5 pounds for 3 weeks. I think I'm back on the right track.
I did the scale thing this morning. It went down the pound from before. Now hopefully it STAYS off. So after 2 weeks of induction the total pounds is 10. only30 (+?) to go!!
Hope you all had a great day. We had snow again today and of course they didn't plow the roads and I just HAD to go to the store for eggs and then go to my parents. Eating there is a new experience since my mom has joined Atkins also. LOL. The table sure looked empty! Was weird because I had to come up with the menu! She had no clue what to make. There was only her, my dad, sis, my 2 kids and me. So figured chicken, salad & deviled eggs would be good and easy went over great Maybe next time she'll figure something out herself. lol
Babysat the grandkids last night, all 3 of them slept over and were up at 7:30. Not too bad, I expected to be up alot earlier!! I made pancakes from the bisquick box...and YUCK!! The kids loved them and ate them right up...hubby and I tossed ours in the garbage. There is something to be said for homemade!! I offered to make homemade, but hubby passed. Its free day, so he said he would thaw out some buttertart squares
Going to pick out and purchase paint today (thats the plan anyway) then off to the store to start piling stock everywhere but in the main sales room lol
Will probably get in a ski today, I had been very tired the last couple days, but I think its just all the exercise and eating plan catching up with me. Im feeling better today, and since the window of opportunity for skiing around here is very small, and even though its my free day, Im going to go out and enjoy the sun and snow! (before it all melts)
Thats about it for me......have a great day all!
Robin
Tummy girl, it's great to hear from you again! My new user name is arlak, but that's because after the crash I couldn't get back on the boards and had to change it. I'm still Tippurr. I'm sorry to hear about your miscarriage. I hope things are going well for you now. Welcome back!
hey tippur, nice to see you again, now I reconize you, I'm still having a horrible time getting around here, but practice, practice practice. Too bad i missed the great server crash of 2004!
I know I've been missing a lot but the damn chemicals in my brain weren't allowing me to function too well. On two different meds now and hopefully we''ve got a handle on it. The only bad thing is that I have been retaining weight due to the drugs and I really have been watching my food. I will admit, water drinking has not been going well. So glad to see you guys and I promise to come back soon and visit, OK?
WOW!!! Both Tummy and Pooky suddenly showed up out of the blue! Good to see you gals again. Of course, we knew you couldn't stay away too long. LOL Sorry about your miscarriage, Tummy. I had two of those, both early on in pregnancy so I'd just found out I was pregnant and lost them. Very emotional time for me as I'm sure it has been for you. Pooky, I'm sorry you've been having meds problems. Hope they've got it all straightened out now.
I'm now working on my brand new computer. My data was moved from one to the other amazingly fast using a tiny gizmo no bigger than a lighter. I'm having troubles with this keyboard though. I'm used to the big wavy ergonomic one and now I'm back to the kind that makes me sit with my elbows tucked into my fluffy sides. I keep hitting the wrong keys. Of course, I could keep my old keyboard but that wouldn't match the lovely silver and black of the new computer. LOL How silly is that!
I've also somehow lost my ICQ. It was here but then it "timed out" or something. One of my best friends just sent me a message and I couldn't answer it. The whole darned thing just up and disappeared.
Oh well, I'm sure it will all get straightened out in time. I just have to get used to it.
My eating has been OP. No problems there. Last night I baked an almond pound cake from a low carb recipe site. Basically it just contains ground almonds, Splenda, eggs, butter and flavorings plus a bit of baking powder. It turned out very heavy (but then pound cakes are, right?), rich and buttery and positively decadent. I gave some to Peter for his dessert and he didn't even know it was low carb. I only tried a tiny bit and I thought it was good. I think it's about 4 gr per slice.
