Good Friday Morning Everyone. Hope you are all doing well and avoiding all the temptation that seems to be available, particularly all those beautiful strawberries.
Sandy: Where I you and how are you doing?
Linda: Thank you very much for telling me how to post my recipes. Please let me knowwhat you think of the jello and maybe I'll attempt to list it. I know I sure need all the good tasting recipes I can get.
Hope everyone has a great Friday. Caci

hey caci~
I'm around- tryin to stay focused. this job search thing is stressin me out. i am really starting to notice a visual difference in my stomach. toned, NO, but i can sorta feel the muscles that are under there. money has been TIGHT, so my groceries are more suited for three children than for myself. my water consumption is down, but you know what........... let me tell you. whether its today or next week, i know this eating plan will work for me. i have a new sense of confidence, that weight loss is w/in my grasp, and its ok to have bad days. i have a lot goin on in my life, and if one day is bad, and 3 to follow are good, then i'm ok w/that. so, with those words of inspiration, i wish all of you a great weekend!!!!

Angry Hello everyone

Hi. I've enjoyed reading about everyones experience on the South Beach diet. I have been doing atkins with some success, however I am concerned about the bad fats I am eating. I will go buy the South Beach book, and hopefully join you ladies in the next day or so. I have fifteen pounds to lose, and my scale is very hard to budge in the good direction, so I will be exercising quite a bit. I'm so excited to be doing this, Atkins is great for some, but not the miracle cure for me. I hope this works. Y'all are so inspiring I just had to find out about this diet. Wish me luck girls, and keep up your success!

Hi Kobe -- welcome to the Sobe's.

The good news first:

Well, my one week weigh-in was today and I've lost five pounds!!!

The bad news: I have been terrifyingly off-plan today. I feel awful about it.

I wasn't going to weigh until the end of week one, but couldn't help myself. From Mom to Friday morning I've lost 5.5 pounds!!! I am really excited about this plan because it seems so healthy.

Caci I'm on the way to the kitchen to make some ofyour jello/ricotta recipe. I'm going to do peach. Any yes you can do avacado. You can have the "GOOD" fats.

I haven't been able to find the book locally so I'm ordering it on the net today.

Question: What have all of you done about caffeene? I kinow it says 1 cup of caffine coffe a day, but that is so hard for me. Today I made my coffe with have caffined and half decaf, so I can have more. Think that will work?

Hang in there everyone.

barb~
hi! i will tell you i still drink caf. diet coke. cut back some, but havent given it up. i guess its a choice- some say the nutrasweet has some play w/keytosis, but i've got a little addiction to the stuff. cant quit cold turkey. hope that helps a little.

Yep -- that's my weakness, too. Can't lay off the diet coke. But I did read somewhere recently (maybe the Atkins website?) that although the caffeine slows down weight-loss somewhat, you'll still lose weight. It said that it was preferable to keep drinking it if not drinking it would make you go nutso-bonkers. However, I can say that drinking all this water is making me cut down slightly on the diet coke.

bunny~
i agree- i have cut back too. but if i cut back too much, the headaches come- i refuse at this point to go thru caff withdrawal when i'm on carb withdrawal.
how many d/cokes do you drink a day? do you also drink coffee? i dont drink coffee, so i justify my d/coke consumption.
take care- weigh in tomorrow. im not sure if i want to, but..........

Hey LaDean and welcome! I haven't bought the book; I feel like I get the gist and since I read Protein Power years ago I understand why it works, etc. My main plan is to cut out all carbs except green vegetables and buy the cuts of meat and kinds of cheese he recommends in SOBE. However, if I'm eating out, I just avoid the carbs and don't worry too much if I'm having a ribeye instead of a sirloin or cheddar instead of lowfat cheddar. When I get to phase II, I'm going to add one high-fiber carb for the next few weeks, so that I can have a piece of whole-grain bread or a bowl of high-fiber cereal each day. At least, that's the plan.

Sandy, I'm embarrassed to admit it, but I usually drink about 12 diet cokes a day. I think when I drink water I cut it down to about 7. Still not great, I know, but it could be worse, I guess. I could be regular coke. Or margaritas. Or motor oil. ANYway...

I'm happy to say that I'm back on track today. Can't wait to weigh in for week two next Friday. Think I'll add a weight monitor to my signature to keep me honest.

Good luck at weigh-in tomorrow, Sandy!

Jen

Hi all, Hope you are all doing great with the SBD. I weigh tomorrow if I can wait that long. I don't know how many pounds I have lost, but my tummy is sure much flatter and that is a plus even if I don't lose as many pounds as I hope to.
Barb- where did you find in the book that you are only limited to l cup of coffee a day. I have looked, but haven't found it. I know the article in Prevention talks about 1 cup a day, but know I would go absolute nuts it I were to cut my quota down to 1 cup, although I am trying to limit it in the afternoon and just drink it in the morning.
Hope everyone is having a great Sunday. Caci
