Question Not enough carbs?????

Ok,
this may be a really stupid question, buuuuutttttt......can you have to FEW carbs?? The last 5 days I have never once gone above 10 a day. And thats adding in one or two a day for hidden carbs I'm missing.
Either I'm doing something extremely, extremely wrong, or I can't add into the double digits, OR...?????
Basically my question is, if my carb intake stays this low, will my body begin to retain more due to the lack???
Thanks all!

Stacey

You're allowed 20mg of carbs per day for the 2 week induction on Atkins. After that increased to 40-50mg per day. If you stay too low, you will need to take supplements and actually slow your weight loss. Hope this helps!

Might I suggest a refresher read of Atkins? If you don't have a copy, I'm sure your local library does.

I'm actually not following Atkins. I tried Protein Power last time, and decided to do that again. It also allows 40 g. per day.
I'm just not finding the need to eat that much. Once I change my WOE, I just don't want much else.
Thanks for the quick reply. I think I will look in to some supplements.

Hi McMom,

Are you eating your veggies? That's how you should get most of your carbs in. Salads and frozen veggies, fried cabbage, fresh asparagus . That's some of my favs. I personally would eat these and then take the supp. I think it's better to get the vitamins from the foods . It will also make things a little easier in the bathroom

Blessings, ChrissyB

Hi McMom, I think you might need to eat more. It isn't so much the needing carbs, but needing the calories and vitamins that come with it. You need fiber for sure, and vitamins and minerals from vegetables, and also enough calories to see that your body doesn't kick into starvation mode, or yep you will hang on to the weight. Maybe if you share menus, it will be a better indication of if you have enough going on or not.

Hi! I hate to be nosey, but could you please tell me what you are eating? I seem to be going over my 20 carbs a day to more like 28-30 carbs a day! (Mostly from cans of green beans).

Could you tell me how you only eat 10 carbs in a whole day??? I would LOVE to know! thank you!!

McMom,
It looks like you are not eating enough veggies. You need the fiber from the veggies to help all the weight you are losing to leave your body!! I'd increase the veggies and decrease the pudding. How can the pudding have such low carbs? Anyway, you definetly should eat more veggies. That's where most of your carbs should come from.
