Question I was hysterical- this ever happen to u

I have come to confess low carb sisters. I strayed away from the flock. I was doing GREAT. I had lost over 30 pounds in a month from low carbing and exercising. I wish I knew what happened, but I think a snickers bar attacked me when I wasn't looking. Before I knew what happened, 2 months later, the 30 pounds came back =(

So, I have come back to the flock. It was quite terrible & messy. I CLEANED out the fridge. Everything that was illegal, I THREW it out. I wanted to leap into the trash and pull it out. Finally I turned on the garbage disposal, and put what I could in there. It was SO TRAUMATIC. Packages of cool whips, cup cakes, 4 litres of Non-diet soda, cookies, bread, EVERYTHING was thrown away. ::sniff sniff:

I felt like I had killed a friend. I am the kind of person that can't STAND to see anything go to waste, then I realized, that every bite I ate to _not waste it_. Would be MORE pounds I would have to work off. So, I threw it all out, took it the outside garbage can, and drug it to the street for trash day. To stop myself from going after the packages of cool whip, I opened them and poured bleach on them.

Can someone please help me get a grip?

First of all, today is a new day. If you haven't done so, take the garbage out immediately so the food is not available in there.

The first thing you should do is take yourself to the grocery store and buy yourself food that you LOVE that is low carb. Fill up your cart with delicious and fresh food. Throw in some low carb bars for the sweet fix if you need it. Buy heavy cream and whip it up so you won't want cool whip.

Second, go home and make at least a week's worth of low carb meals - grill some chicken, steam some vegetables, whip some cauliflower, wash some salad, etc. Have DELICIOUS low carb food available in the fridge at a moments notice.

Third, stop beating up on yourself! You can't turn the clock back. The only thing you can do is move forward. Try to figure out what happened so it doesn't happen again. Was it the snickers bar? What made you go for that instead of a low carb bar?

Low carb doesn't take as much work as some other plans, but it does take work. It involved making choices, although I think the choices are easier than other plans. You have done this before and you know you can do it again if you set your mind to it. It may take a couple of slips before you commit fully to this WOE.

Good luck, and keep us posted. Make a point to post your food every day on that thread - it really helps!!

Chanelchristian, Sounds like you have made some progress in eliminating the temptations from your home. You sound like me, instead of bleach I use a handy spray cleaner like Fantastic to spray any food I may be tempted to retrieve.

I agree with Tilly, you need a shopping trip to fill your home with sensible low carb choices.

Best of luck and post often, I believe that posting at 3fc is an important tool in my success!

Thank you for the awesome support! I need it. The first day is always the hardest on a diet. I bought some dexatrim green tea formula to help me out. It REALLY helps with the cravings. The first 3 days on the Atkins are the hardest, I know that. I am a sugar addict, and it is hard to "detoxify" my body from all the carbs. But, it is almost 1pm, it is going good so far.

My main problem is night time, I am a night time snacker. Like my friend says " I am a refrigerator raper.". So, what I am going to do the next 3 nights is take a light over the counter sleeping pill. If I can get over the next 3 days, I know I can make the next 14 days. =)

THANK YOU so much for the support! I need my low carb sisters!

Instead of the sleeping pill, why don't you make yourself some "legal" snacks so you have something you can munch on in the evenings? There's no law that says you can't have fried chicken or left over roast beef or a couple of cold pork chops for an evening snack. Diet jello with real whipped cream is always a treat and if you want to get REALLY sinful and luxurious, try the cheesecake recipe I'm about to post in the dessert menus. It is truly to DIE for and it's only from 5 to 8 carbs per slice. Our Ruth can tell you it is soooooo good. She felt guilty eating it but it's perfect Atkins low carb fare.

I too am one of those "hate to throw it out" persons. Eating my kids leftovers is what got me all my extra weight. Then one day someone gently told me, "You know Laura, you're not the garbage can. Well I guess this was my *click* momemt, and whenever my kids have leftovers on their plate I (always with a tempting pause) throw them in the garbage disposal.

Fried chicken? Pork Chops? I was under the impression that we can't have any flour at all. How do make carb free fried chicken? Please tell me! I have had sooo much baked chicken it is nuts.

One thing I do is use my George Foreman grill. I love that thing. I grill salmon, chicken, strips of beefs etc etc. I do eat a great deal of diet jello and pork rinds, but there is only so much you can eat! lol

oops had to edit b.c of a mispelled word

Chanelchristian, I couldn't say it any better than what has been said already! Keep tough, your hardest day is over! Your body is thanking you already!

You can make good breading for fried chicken and pork chops with crushed pork rinds. You can make a similar taste to shake and bake, just substitute the pork rinds for the bread crumbs. If you don't like pork rinds, you will still most likely enjoy using it as breading it anyway. Has a different taste and texture!

Red face

I sure can relate to eating the leftovers on the kids plates. I have a hard time with this too. I even have a hard time tasting things off their plates before I give it to them

One of the best things about having a dog is he can eat some of the things that are left over and what he doesnt eat one of the cats probably will. The garbage can and I will eat anything

Believe me, I have been where you are too many times to count unfortunately. The most important thing is that we keep on trying.

I have done the same thing that you have, I just threw it away. It is better than the other way where I have said, Oh I will just eat EVERYTHING tonight and start fresh tomorrow. ugh. and I HATE losing weight that I have already lost. It is so irritating. I got down to 270 pounds but went right back up to 290 pounds, so I will not get really excited until I get below that 270 again.

Anyway, I am finally back on track and the things that helped me:

I went to the store and bought things that were on my plan
I boiled a bunch of eggs and made some deviled eggs
I cut up celery and made some low carb artichoke and spinache dip. I filled my refrigerator with low carb easy to grab things. (It is so great when I do low carb, I don't get hungry in between meals like I used to). I started drinking my water again. and getting back to exercising, slowly but surely.
AND when I needed a chocolate fix I bought a few low carb candy bars to have around just in case. But I have to be careful because I can eat all of them in one sitting too...

Anyway, great job for taking that leap back to lc again. You are going to get those 30 pounds off again before you know it. Just keep making one good choice after another and it will keep getting easier. We are in this together and I KNOW we can do it!!!
