Good Morning Everyone! It is about 5:00 a.m and I finally gave up trying to sleep and came out here to "talk" to my friends. I think that the hectic schedule of this week has got me stewing. For a week that I didn't think had much going on it has filled up in a hurry. Mostly around DS's sports activities. He has a football game in the "big city" tonight, football in the morning tomorrow, basketball tomorrow night til 10:00, football Thursday night and Friday morning we all leave for Lincolnshire IL for an all weekend varsity basketball tournament. Being the anxiety person I am this weekend thing has me in quite the tizzy. On top of that my dad called and they are going to try and do the MRI on him tomorrow (again). He has major claustrophobia and they scheduled it 2 weeks ago and he woke up in a panic attack and cancelled the appt. I don't know why they think it will be different this time. They are going to try giving him Valium ahead of time, but I don't know......Anyway, didn't eat that great yesterday and avoided walking cuz of my knee. It seems to feel considerably better today so the walking is definitely back in the picture--now to get the eating right back in the picture too!! Okay, I have rambled and whined-- You guys all have a terrific day!!!!
Annie -- first off..... relax and stop stewing (altho stewed chicken isn't too bad, stewed chick probably is ) About your dad: can he go someplace where there is an open mri? I've seen lots of people who simply either cannot get in or stay in the mri machine. I had to have one for my wrists (and still had to have my whole body in the damn machine) and it was not the most fun I've ever had- trying to stay still with the top of the machine over my face! Maybe the place will let you or someone else stay with him while they do the test. The place where I did some of my clinical work used to let someone stay with the patient..... it went a long way towards allowing the patient to be calmer and better tolerate the claustrophobic feeling when someone was there to talk with them! Ask - it can't hurt!
I thought I was supposed to work today, instead, I am not working again this week until Thursday... in one way it's a good thing, in another, a very NOT GOOD thing! ($$$ for my house repair MUST be found!) Anyhow, that means I'll be hangin around a lot today..... anyone wanna play with me?????
Well, since Annie didn't make coffee, I guess I better go put a pot on! Later, chickies!
Morning girls!! I have been trying to sleep too but have too much to do!!
Ihave almost cought up on all the laundry and have got the kitchen back in order. but all in all still behind from the last week. I ended up not eating to well yesterday but plan on being OP for the rest of this week.
Hope all has a great day that are yet to come i will be checking in later
Annie your son has a basketball game at 10Pm, gracious that's late. I would be sleeping in the bleachers.
The open MRI is a good idea, I'm sure, well hopefully there is one near your Dad. I'm with your Dad, I couldn't get in one of those closed things either. I had alot of that stuff done while I was in the hospital, but I was out, thank goodness.
I took a spill at O-dark-thirty this morning. I took Charley (the dog) out for a potty break on a leash. the type that expands. He saw something in the back yard and before I could tighten up the leash he took off, and me like a dummy instead of letting go of the leash I hung on. I landed on my hip, it took me 10 minutes to figure out how to get up. I walked in the door and my hubby said, I thought I was going to have to come look for you. Well, that didn't sit well, I know he didn't even know I was on the ground, but darn that made me mad. My hip is a little ouchie, but I'm fine. I'm not talking to Charley tho, LOL
Gosh is it hot and steamy in Hotlanta right now. Janice you will feel right at home, I think we are having Houston weather. We can all glisten together this weekend.
There just isn't a lot of report from this neck of the NE today. The weather seems to be holding steady -- although I hope to eventually get used to the humidity.
I have been busy getting my eBay business up and running. I ordered a new computer and am hoping that it will motivate me to keep chugging along.
Staying op, but haven't been drinking my water I really need to work on that this week and stay focused.
I hope you all have a great day. You chicks are SO great! There is never a dull moment around!
Had a wonderful and relaxing weekend visiting Richland Center, WI. I waved at Dondar as I flew over Michigan! I connected for Madison in Detroit and am sure I walked a mile in that airport from Terminal C to Terminal A. How the heck do old people do it - walk that distance, I mean.
Noranora and I travel well together even if she does tease me about driving slowly. Actually I got stopped for speeding 20 miles from home yesterday - just got a warning - probably because I knew the cop and his grandmother! I love country life!
We ate, hung out, ate, visited The House on the Rock, ate, laughed, ate, checked out gardens, ate....you get the picture. I will not regale you with what we ate - let's just say that fries and chocolate and pecan pie were in there. The damage is only 1/2 pound so I am not discouraged and am back OP as of this morning. I even had black coffee because DH did not buy milk over the weekend - grrrrrr! He also didn't wipe a counter or sweep a floor but he petted Hershey lots. Oh well! Lucy had fun at Morna's but has developed the submissive peeing habit! *****y drawers will have a comment at class on Friday, no doubt.
I start into heavy duty Fair work today so won't be around much. I intend to do two hours gardening every morning BEFORE I go to the office and maybe work in a walk at the same time.
You know, my suitcase is still packed and I am soooo tempted to take off for Hotlanta but it can't happen. You chickies are going to have a ball! Remember that pictures are a must and can be posted on the Yahoo "Extra Coop" site. Send me your email and Yahoo ID if you don't already belong and I'll register you.
Annie - Sam'sgrandma is right! Be insistent and you can stay with your Dad when he has his MRI - I did when DH had his. And try to relax, sweetie - this is your summer holiday!
Debkay, ice that hip and see the Doc if it does not get better fast. Darn doggies really screw us up sometimes - my shoulder/arm thing is still giving me major pain.
Sue, sorry your job does not start as soon as you thought. Hang in there! I keep looking at the map and thinking about driving down to see you for a coffee or lunch sometime in August. Can you tell I have the travel bug?
Gotta get going and start the three weeks from ****! FAir prep for the next 9 days, the Fair for 4 days (7 to 11), and about a week of recovery and writing prize cheques. I will just keep saying to myself that I will not be doing this next summer!
i actually have nothing to say this morning.. except...
I'M DOWN 4 MORE POUNDS FROM LAST WEEK!!!!!
ok. that's it.
have a great day everyone!!! more later.
and one more thing.
DEBKAY: ICE THAT HIP!!!! we're going to have WAAYYYY too much fun this weekend for you to be laid up with aches, pains and bruises!!!!! of course, hanging out in the water will take the pressure off your hip!!!
I'm on my 2nd cup of coffee, so now I'm awake enough to type
Debkay~~~Sorry to hear about your fall. How's the hip now? You are right, it's gonna be another hot and muggy one today. Try to stay cool.
Annie~~~OK, I'm already tired just after reading your daily schedule today. How do you do it? I hope that your Dad's MRI will go well.
Sue~~~I workout at home now (I miss the Smith machine at the gym) . I incorporate my upper and lower body in the same day. I do 2 exercises per muscle area, doing 3 sets of 15 each. Since I work weekends, this allows me to lift weights 3X a week. The other 2 days are cardio. Since I didn't do any exercise yesterday I will do the weights today.
Yesterdays diet was not too good (heavy on carbs) so today i will do better. I'll post my diet on your menu thread.
My plans for today are to visit a friend this morning (after exercising) , and then do alittle staining/painting on my back deck. Then relax for at least an hour by the pool
Hi Guys, just got back in from watering all of my flowers, I figured since I was up I could get it done before it got so hot outside. Looks like we are heading back into a heatwave here too.
Thanks for all of your good wishes for my dad. Unfortunately I am 5-6 hours away from my mom and dad and I can't get away from here. I will tell my mom about being able to be in there with him. That might help. I had suggested the open MRI before, but the doctor my dad is seeing said that it is "sometimes inconclusive". I don't understand why that would be, but I couldn't my folks to quiz him on that. Sigh, you are right I need to stop stewing--unfortunately it is one of my best talents!!!
Ruth, the House on the Rock is awesome. I have visited it many times. The first time I was in Jr. High and was helping out with my little sister's girl scout group. I can't believe how much they have added and to it. The house itself is the same, it's just all of the other things that go with it that seem to grow every year. I'm glad you got to see it.
Sil, sounds like you get in a good workout at home without the gym.
Jif, great job with the walking and the weightloss. You are doing a great job!!
Deb, OUCH!! Hope your hip is okay! Your DH sounds like my DH--his famous saying is..."It will quit hurting when the pain goes away" Always helpful!
Samsgrandma, sorry about the coffee, I'll remember it next time. Since you aren't working today, I hope you get a chance to enjoy yourself.
Hi all. Yes if you do not get moving I WILL make you start lifting the weights. BUT it looks like i willhave one to back me up!! (right SIL???)
Sil I do my own version of BFL too. I do upper and alternate with lower. i only do about 10 min of cardio daily as i HATE cardio. and LOVE weights. I wish that there were more choices near me to work but unfortunaly there is not. there is several NH but i did that once and well i hate the way that the folks are treated. I thought that i could make a diffference but the DON managed to decide that i was not cut out to work there as i had decided that getting a person out of their soaked bed was more important than doing the paper work so i ended up staying late to do the paper work and they did not like that. (too much heart) I donot want to travel far as that would mean about 1 hour commute each way or longer when the weather gets bad. and then the kids and family will suffer as they have in the past and i ended up with kids failing school and doing badly. they need constant help and reminding to get their homework done.
Ruth! I have a extra couch!! that pulls out!! As it looks I am available except the second week of August!! just let me know!
Jiff way to go!! You will be passing me in no time (I know i am your goal weight but i seem to keep getting set back)
