ideal weight and protein needs
a great find!!! from a thread on spotlighthealth.com:
"Your protein requirement is more based on frame size than weight.
Here is the formula I was given (by a dietician) to figure out how much protein you should consume every day.
Formula:
Take a base of 105
Add 5 lbs. to base number for every inch over 5 feet
add 10% of that total if you have a large frame OR
add 5% of that total if you have a medium frame.
Divide that number by 2.2 to get weight in kilograms
Then multiply by 0.9 gm/kg if you want to lose weight OR
Multiply by 0.8 gm/kg if you want to maintain your weight"
sooo, for me, at 5'9" with a large frame, i need at least 67 grams of protein [i'm calling it 70, easier to deal with] to lose weight, and i must confess that i haven't always been hitting it the past week or so.
but the surgeon wants me at 80-100 grams per day because he says that some authorities believe that the weight loss is better at the higher protein levels. works for me!!!!!!
so, what do you all think???
