Default well good morning, scooby, and everyone

are we the only two insomniacs this morning? still too hot to take a walk but tomorrow should be better.

and it'll be a great day. i can just feel it. bought dessert for the brooklyn barbecue: a box of strawberries, and a pound cake and biscotti from one of the local italian bakeries. all we need is a little cream. i won't eat these strawberries without a few drops of it!!!! [talk about spoiled people!!!!]

nothing much is going on. the cat's in the window, the dog left mom's side [they're so cute, all snuggled in bed along with the other cat] and is refusing to go outdoors.

the surgeon asked me to say a few words on tuesday about my wls experience. it's the regular orientation session for people who are considering the surgery. but they're only letting me have five minutes!!!!!!!

hope everyone has a great fourth of july.. we've been through a lot over this past year, both personally and as a nation. and we're lucky to be living here. or living at all.

Happy Fourth of July
to our American Neighbours and Cousins!

I am so glad we have you folks as friends across the border.

Jiff - I can't imagine you talking for just five minutes!

I hope everyone has a wonderful day. I'll be singing The Star Spangled Banner as I do my thing today. Yes, I do know all the words and the tune - I am 1/4 Yankee, ya know!

Still hot here but it promises to break. I just did an hour of hoeing in my poor sick veggie garden. I will water this morning for sure as no rain is in sight.

Did plan a trip to town today but my car is still at the dealer. On Sunday my drivers side window shattered when I closed the door. I was covered with tiny cubes of glass. Boy, did I hit the shower fast! Of course, country car dealers have to order stuff and my glass is still not in! I will have to get a loaner soon as I refuse to drive DH's piece of junk to Kingston tomorrow for Lucy's Obedience class.

Not much planned today - a bit of accounting and maybe some sewing. I have two summer outfits with pants that need shortening. I need a leg transplant - tanned skin, please.

Enjoy your day and no guilt about splurges, OK?

Morning Jiff and Ruth -- and everyone else to come!

Happy Fourth... enjoy the fireworks safely.

Jiff, I'm with Ruth.... somehow, I can't imagine you talking for only 5 minutes! Hmmmm bringing biscotti to Brooklyn: isn't that kinda like the old expression my mom used to use "coals to Newcastle"??? Enjoy your visit and barbeque... if you get to see the Macy's fireworks, imagine my dd enjoying the view from her bil's apartment on the 20th floor of a building ON the FDR drive

Ruth..... enjoy your day .. I hope you are still taking time to recover from the reunion and Canada Day!

Well, bye all...... I won't be home 'til late... we are going to visit bil who lives along the Hudson River in way-upper Westchester (actually, I think it's the next county) and if the weather holds, we
will "cruise" on the river........ (hey! it's a tough life but someone has to do it

HAPPY 4 th OF JULY !!

I agree with you Jiffy, we have thru so much as a nation and individually. I know that for myself it's created an appreciation for the truly important things.

DH and both DS's finally left Tuesday evening. I enjoyed my quiet day yesterday but will be cooking at the ice house all day today. Sure wish the cooker had air conditioning as it's to be 94 degrees outside, however, inside the cooker with fryers and grills going will be more like 120+!

Hope everyone has a safe and wonderful holiday!

Happy "Firecracker Day"!!!!

Morning everyone! It is hot, hot, hot here! But then it sounds like we are all in that particular boat. Got back Tuesday from DH's family reunion and our mini-trip to the waterpark hotel. Made it through the reunion without any major crisis and had a wonderful time at the hotel. Just what the doctor ordered for all concerned. Got back at 12:30-DS played a football game at 6:00 in one town and a basketball game at 8:30 in another! Nothing like jumping back in with both feet huh??? He had another basketball game last night at 5:30, but now I think we have a week off. (for now anyway) Today we are going to a barbecue at a friends house, but before we go there I have to go get groceries for the cookout we are having Saturday. We are having some couples over along with their kids who are DS's friends for a semi-sortof early birthday get together for DS. I need to get my act together!

Janice, try and stay cool while you are doing all of that cooking.

samsgrandma, your day sounds really fun-enjoy!

Ruth, good luck with your car.

Jif, strawberries and cream--yum!!

Have a good day everyone and keep our heroes who are fighting for us in your thoughts on this Independence Day.

Happy 4th!

We don't have anything planned. How sad is that??? But, dh is gone and is a worry wart, so I will stay put and play rain games with the kiddies.

Thanks for the advice, Pooky! I am REALLY ready to have a home and stay put for a while. We were counting it up and we've moved 7 times in 6 years. Isn't that horrible? But, now that dd#1 is school age, she needs some firmly planted roots and I need my own home -- I get sort of frustrated paying someone else's mortage! LOL!

It's hot. Ok, you all win. Its hot! But, I am very proud myself -- I installed an air conditioner ALL BY MYSELF!!!

I will check with you all later! Jiff, your bbq sounds like a lot of yummy fun and good luck with your 'few words' on tues!

I'll see you all later!

Good Morning everyone!

Just mowed the disastrous front lawn--that's what happens when you have a heat wave--very reluctant to go outside and do some work!

Got some really great news this morning--I'm down 4 more pounds to 205! That's a total of 17 pounds gone since New Years day!! Must have been all that water I've been drinking!

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!!!!

Hope all my American Chickies have a fun day!!
