  • Okay here goes!

    Age: 28

Weight: 150 I'm 5'1" and I'd like to get down to 120. Haven't seen that number since I got pregnant with DD. I was 105 then and I know I'll never see that weight again! Right now I'm currently 146.

Married: Not yet! Divorced for 6 years and stumbled across the love of my life a year ago on Feb 22. He's a dream and loves my daughter just like she was his own. I've also got a great ex-husband! Let's just say we make much better friends than husband and wife!

Children: I have a daughter, Morgan who is 7 years old. Everyday she amazes me. When I get down I look at her and think..."Yep, I did something right!"

Pets: We have a hedgehog named Zoe who is just too cute for words! DBF got her for my daughter at Christmas. When we move into our new house we're getting a long haired golden retriever and a pygmy goat!

Weight loss plan: I'm on Atkins Induction right now and feeling better and better everyday. It's amazing to realize that maybe you were out of control with your eating because of what you were eating not because of some huge personality flaw!

Occupation: Polysomnograph technician...fancy title for a sleep study specialist. We diagnose sleep apnea, so yes, three nights a week I watch people sleep!

Hobbies: Dancing (taught ballroom dancing for 8-9 years), camping in our pop-up, reading, cooking and collecting cookbooks, spending time curled up with my little family, hanging with my sister!

Anything else: Hmmm, well I love my life, I'm a glass is half full kinda girl, I love laughing, talking, and family!

  • Hi all, and thanks for all the support you've already given me while I've been lurking!

My name is Annette, and I'm 34. I've been married for 11 years (Air Force wife), and have 2 sons: Jake 10 in 4th grade, and Nick, who's 4 and in developmental preschool. He has mild cerebral palsy, and very possibly some form of autism. Doing wonderfully, though, and fully mobile. Cerebral palsy sounds so terrible, and IS for some, but luckily Nick is on the low end of the spectrum.
We have a very cute and feisty 5 month-old German Shepard mix named Heidi.
I am a SAHM, and enjoy it, but I've found that it's really easy to overeat when I'm home all day.
I've been overweight most of my life, except for a few years following puberty when I grew a few inches taller. After high school, I moved out and started eating way too much fast food and drinking. I truly believe that getting married and moving away from my old lifestyle saved my life. The downside to that, though, was missing my family, so I think food became my comfort. I also gained far too much weight with my pregnancies.
I've tried dieting many times, but started Atkins on Feb. 16, and so far so good. I am so very tired of being fat and feeling like crap. I weighed 223 on Sunday when I started, and will hopefully be pleasantly surprised next Sunday when I weigh again!
  • Hi all, and welcome to our group. We have a wonderful group of people here, and I haven't been checking in as often as I should, but hey life happens. I seriously looked into this as a possible eating style I think last April. I can't believe it's been that long. Induction was the pits, I didn't know if I'd made a mistake or what. These great people helped me thru it. Then in July I got sidetracked because I had gotten a hold of a CAD book. Being able to eat all those carbs at one meal was a wonderful concept except I derailed my effort and went on a carb binge you wouldn't believe. It lasted until December when I had to wear sweats because my jeans would not fit. I'm not critisizing CAD, it just is no good for me. Well I've gotten alot smarter, and alot more inventive in the kitchen, and found LC recipes for my favorites so it doesn't bother me that I've left the high carb life. Besides after getting off induction, it is easier to stay with the plan, besides being able to fit in my clothes again, life is good. Have a super week, Judy
