Default Idependence Day Challenge #1

I need a challenge. A goal. A target. Anyone care to join me?

I've challenged myself to lose 30 pounds between now and July 4th! That would put me below my first goal mark of 250 pounds!

Who wants to take up the challenge? Doesn't have to be about pounds . . . could be about staying OP, drinking your water, exercising, journaling, making "me" time, etc. You set the goal and then check in to the "Independence Day Challenge" thread each week.

Hope to see you there!

Dare i say it??? I want to be at goal by then ....OMG i said it out loud!!!!

I have revised my goal for 140 - 145 so that means to lose 25 - 30 lbs by then! but even to be in the 150's would be great!!! I know the last few lbs for goal is the hardest! masybe to be able to wear a 2 piece suit!

Sue -- What an awesome achievement! I am so envious and so happy for you, too! Keep checking in each week (whatever day you weigh-in for your weekly is fine). I use Mondays only because I find that weekends are my lowest resistance times and it helps to remember that I have to get on that GD scale on Monday AM.

Talk to you soon!

Hey Jo!

By July I hope to have been op enough to have shed 25 more pounds....well, maybe 15-20 might be more realistic for me BUT 25 would be nice....really nice!

By July 1 which is CANADA DAY! I hope to be in ONEderland. Even 199.99999 would be great and would be the first time since the late 1980's. I'm 208 today so it IS attainable.

Okay...I'm in on the Indelendence Day challenge! I haven't been on the board for a while and have been procrastinating about low carbing now since January. I'm ready! I have 30 - 40 pounds to lose...so this challenge is needed!
Any suggestions as to how to get through induction would be greatly appreciated.

Karen

Hi, Karen!

Welcome to our challenge thread. Need induction suggestions? Here's are few that have worked for me in the past.

1. WATER (drink lots and lots)
2. Multi-Vitamin/Mineral
3. Chromium (helps to reduce carb cravings)
4. Journal (what you eat, how you feel, etc.)
5. Log-in to "chat" whenever you need support
6. Perservance (keep trying even when you stumble)

Hope those help! Anyone have more suggestions?

Hello, Gina!

Sounds like you've got some good, solid goals there! I actually own a pair of size 14 jeans (never worn). About 12 years ago, I go down to a snug 16 so I started buying 14s thinking I could continue my weight loss (was starving myself and exercising 2-3 hours every day but that another story). Needless to say at a current size of (snug) 24, those 14s are just gathering dust in the attic. I WILL get into them one day!

So will you (your own pair that is )!

Hi girls,

I would like to join your challenge. I used to be around a year ago but fell off the wagon. Today I had my first visit with my new doctor. He wants to start me on medication in 3 months unless I can get my weight, blood sugar, cholestral and blood pressure in a downward motion. I don't want to go on medicine when I'm only 49. The side effects scare me.

So here I am ready to start low carbing again. I will set my Independance goal for 180.

Thanks for the moral support. It's so important.

Janet

Count me in!

I just committed this morning to going to my 20 year high school reunion in July so this is perfect!

I need to get back on track.

Today I have started drinking my water and am OP. I will also journal starting today and try to walk at least three times a week and do the stairs at work whenever I work at least once!

As far as weight down....I would like to work for 30 lbs down...just over 2 lbs a week...we shall see.

Liz

212 lbs Jan 1 2001

180 lbs April 1 2001

32 lbs down

Liz,

I was just curious about the food plan you're using to be so successful with your weight loss in 3 months. That's just terrific! Did you strictly do low carb or was it a modified plan?

I know you'll have a great time at your reunion. I love mine....but definitely had a better time when I was feeling good about myself in a really cool outfit.

Thanks,

Janet
